    I just spent a few hours scratching my head with this:
    For anyone trying the Nvidia App and finding out the processor usage goes high for some cores:
    If you configure the Nvidia Overlay to not show statistics (ALT + R shortcut), even if you choose not to use the overlay at all: This causes NVIDIA FrameView SDK service to go into a constant restart loop loading and unloading every second or so.
    Setting the statistics to be in use solves this problem (the service stops restarting itself and stays on), even if you then disable the overlay completely.

    • @hundvd_7
      @hundvd_7 Před 6 měsíci +23

      what the fuck nvidia.

    • @reaverMB
      @reaverMB Před 6 měsíci +18

      After some more testing it gets weirder than I previously thought.
      After a windows restart the FrameView SDK service now starts bugging out if the Statistics is ON but the Overlay is OFF.
      Setting both OFF seems fine, until I restart windows and that puts the FrameView SDK service back into a restart loop.
      So it is different depending on what settings you have set before restarting or shutdown and after flipping the settings off/on.

    Number 1 issue I have is that it is unknown how many "features" will be available offline. While GeForce experience was build from the ground up with the "always online" theme (heck, it even requires you to login to nvidia account in order to use it at all) and I would also guess it collects user data, the old NV Controll Panel is 100% offline. You don't need nvidia account to change screen refresh rate lol. Also, GF Controll Panel started working slowly when Nvidia added GF Experience. And many times Nvidia was outright removing shortcuts to NV Controll Panel. For a very long time Nvidia wanted even advanced users to stop using NV Controll Panel. The are without a doubt using their monopolistic position to move a lot of features behind always on-line app and collect telemetry data on what settings we use for what game etc. At least, this is what I think about it. When it comes to big corporations, the reason they do anything is always the same - cash.

    My biggest point about a control panel, or in general any config tool is that things are compact and dense. And that was one thing the old control panel did well. It was just super slow and didn't scale well with window size.
    What I want for the new control panel is a search function, native system UI, and going away from the form over function "modern" design. So nvidia, please double the density of the settings list. I'm not on a 5'' 4K touchscreen. I notice that in general, modern software basically requires stuff like that. Everything is gigantic with enormous bezels, graphics cards have noticeable banding in 24/32 bit color depth, antialiasing has become worse, effects are undersampled, the resolution you set isn't what the games run at...
    And since they bring the ingame settings into the thing, if something allows for numeric values (either ingame or through the config file) let us enter numeric values.

If Nvidia finally updated theirs to something good, that shifts it back a bit again. Not being able to overclock and undervolt right in the same app keeps the driver package ball in AMD's court for me though. Yes, I can use Afterburner, but that's just more software that needs to be run.

      @De-M-oN For what exactly? The user experience is rather worse over AMD drivers, if the only metric is about using the control panel features. Can you even toggle G-sync on/off while the game is open? For AMD it's just Alt+R and the tuneable settings are within reach in matter of seconds.
      I'm glad they're unifying the UI experience a bit more now, since it would be kinda pointless to even own a Nvidia GPU imho at that point, if you don't use Geforce Experience, since you're lacking so much in the features. Sure you can use inspector and other 3rd party software, but those aren't real fixes for the average user. Currently those settings are too split, so if you can get a better panel and overlay at all on the same place, it would be an actual upgrade on the user experience...

RTX HDR makes the characters faces look Ghostly. its boosting the wrong colors or weird detection of what to highlight and to what level. the AI needs better training etc. in fact you can do something cool and lower the "Grey Mids" slider all the way to 1, and see what exactly its highlighting and detecting as needs HDR boosts.
