Spot on! Had mine for three weeks. Perfect size, light, superbly legible, fantastic titanium colour. Hasn’t left my wrist. Holding off all my other watches, even my beloved Omega Seamaster 300.
Finally someone who gets it. Its not a downsized Pelagos, it is the modern Tudor Sub which was 200m. Submariner will never be on a Tudor dial again. This gets the most wrist time in my 15 or so watch collection.
My good friend and fellow watch enthusiast was lucky enough to pick one up from a Tudor boutique while on vacation in France. He loves it. I got to check it out when he got back. It IS pretty sweet in person. Have no issues with the unique finish to the dial finish not being matte which some criticized a bit. Looks good with the radiant finish. And, my friend got to check out my new Tudor purchase, a Black Bay 58 Bronze. I would love to get a P39 someday. But, I think like many others, holding off for the eventual blue version of the p39. The lume is good. BUT, as many have noted, a little weird and slightly disappointing the hands are noticeably weaker lume than the rest of the dial and bezel. Hope they adjust and fix that in future production of the black p39... especially when they eventually donate blue p39.
SUPERPOSITIVE! Thanks! Have had the P39 now for 9 months and I love it. However, there are al lot of complaints on Insta recently about the QC, a stuck bezel and sharp edges on the bracelet. So we needed your take on it! 😊
Pelagos is really one of the best. Sees a lot of wrist time and the titanium is nice and light. The LUME is amazing for business trips when you wak in the middle of the night.
1. Remove the divers extension and shorten the clasp 2. Add a roulette date wheel like the LHD Bonus - Grade 5 titanium making the color less grayish and more scratch resistant
I contacted my Rolex/Tudor AD guy when the 39 came out with interest. Got a call 2 weeks ago but I passed. I’m sure in another year they’ll be in the display case like all the other Tudor’s. Nice dive watch but I have too many already 😎.
Excellent video , thanks . Will the new black bay 54 make an appearance possibly for review as it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it compared to the 58?
21mm straps are not an issue. I have a Fortis Flieger 39. No issues getting 21mm strap. Currently wearing it in an Artem sail cloth, have a couple of FKM rubber straps and the very good bracelet it came with. There are leather options…. I am not sure why we get our knickers in a twist with 21mm. Better to have the correct proportions!
@@sorinsrn5442 as listed, normal retail + VAT, I wasn't looking to buy so I didn't ask if they offered a discount. But I could buy one then and there. Also an FXD.
is 39 the new 42mm? Oh yeah - I love those bezel numbers - classy, clear and thin. Wish Tudor would take out that line of text "officially certified" and put it on the back
Do kind of wish the hour hand had a bit more lume….but since I don’t really use it as a dive watch I suppose that’s just picking nits. I also find the bracelet edges a trifle sharp…could be chamfered a bit…but just another nit.
The clasp is a bit too long and it has sharp edges and it’s a bit dangly. Apart from that I love it. Very comfortable and versatile. Definitely a keeper!
It's a beautiful watch, quite weak titanium finishing though. I've been wearing a Citizen Promaster super titanium duratec daily for the past two years and almost no scratches at all. My Citizen is way less prone to scratches than steel.
Thanks so much for the great review Rob. Great watch for the bucks, unfortunately didn't come with Grade 2 harden Ti; otherwise this wouild be the greatest at all time divers!

I like it but it's a definitely pricier than I'd like for that look. Is it REALLY that much better than an Omega or other Eta based watch manufacturer (Longines, Tag Heuer)?
The indices are just made of lume cast in that shape. Not set inside typical applied indices like many dive watches. Boldr uses lume cast markers on some watches I think.
Why support Rolex and why would anyone support the Grey Market? Half of the problem is the Grey Marketeers. If they weren’t buying watches just to flip then you and I could maybe buy from an AD. Having said that, I just wish Tudor would use the Mercedes hand. After all they are Rolex’s little brother. Their are part of the same family. If I could get the watch with Mercedes hand I would. It’s as nice as a Submariner. The beauty of this watch is that it resembles the original. I love it.
Can’t afford it now, although it’s definitely not unattainable. But damn, 4 lines of text is still a lot, like I need to be told it’s officially certified. Everything else looks amazing.
Grade 2 titanium is softer than grade 5 so this grade 2 watch will pick up scratches. That’s my only gripe with this watch. That one already looks pretty scratched up
Get an eraser, they come right out! Mine looks basically brand new! When ever I get a scratch, eraser, gone! Maybe deep scratches that won't work but for most, takes them right out! I have zero complaints of them using grade 2!
Scratches can be removed so easily with G2 titanium. I had a friend lend me his NTTD Seamaster he banged up from wearing and I gave it back to him virtually brand new.
They are now 20 % below retail in my country . They are not available not because of demand or supply issue but marketing strategy . Most existing customers get call to get this from ADs . The reason why ppl are not buying is because the price will continue to drop. As we know, Tudor produces great watches but is the worst performing watch when it comes to holding value in 2023. Don’t expect this brand to increase in value in the near future. Over the last 2 years , it was positioned as the garbage by ADs where customers are forced to buy them in order to buy rolex and are now deemed as junk in the grey market . I guess it’s all rolex own doing so there’s nothing to be sad here . Aside from market update, it is a great watch and one for the enthusiast and with a market like that one should walk away if ADs do not provide massive discount of 30-40% (they will find a way to give you that discount in some form). What comes around goes around, some ADs need to fail and we should let them fail 👍🏻
Tudor is using a grade 2 titanium, which is frankly disappointing at this watch's price point. There's many dive watch options with g2 titanium at a third of the price of a Tudor.
Why is that disappointing? It's not like grade 5 is way better than grade 2 in every way. Grade 5 is more resistant to scratches but grade 2 is more corrosive resistant in water and that's where it's supposed to be used. Grade 5 is also a bit heavier and lastly it's harder to machine and getting the fine details right since it chips more easily. I also think that it's cool that grade 2 is pure titanium and not an aluminum alloy.
Yes grade 2 is very poor on a watch of this price. I think grade 5 is also corrosion resistant and will withstand the scratches more. Grade 5 or steel would of been better. After a very short time I think this watch will look pretty bashed and beaten.
I just returned mine after a day. Looks good, but the impression of quality is just not there. Bracelet is super flimsy, almost like a Casio "bracelet" Also, I think titanium is overrated. Size seems fine on paper but with this guy, it's meh. You kinda expect the old big Pelly but your eyes tell a different story.
Ughh what's up with Tudor and their insistence on a 60 click bezel..... it's not precise. Why spend so much engineering ability to make their watches COSC and then give us an imprecise method of tracking time. I still love Tudor, but can it really add that much cost to throw in a 120 click bezel???
Lightweight, relatively thin, adjustable bracelet. Great aesthetic. Immediately became my daily wear.
Spot on! Had mine for three weeks. Perfect size, light, superbly legible, fantastic titanium colour. Hasn’t left my wrist. Holding off all my other watches, even my beloved Omega Seamaster 300.
Stunning dial, pictures don’t do it any justice. I went in to my AD with my mind set on a BB but the moment this P39 was on my wrist it was game over!

P39 does have a deeper detent at 60. Your friends Pele is an exception.
Have almost pulled the trigger on this one several times. I need to just commit.
Buy a homage(Octopus Kraken, Seestern, San Martin) and wear it for a while. Then you are able to make a better decision if pelagos is worth the $5000.

You can remove scratches so easily with G2 titanium. People complain but if it scratches easily it can be refinished easily too.
Try a test on the smaller scratches, use a pen eraser, so one specifically for pens. Like, the blue side of an old pelikan eraser
Sir could you do a comparison with suggess pelogos?
It's absolutely amazing how close Seestern and other AliExpress brands came to homaging this watch. They look identical.
The ring he is wearing is actually his pelli-wedding ring. Rob legally married this Tudor and lived happily ever after.

If you like homages, especially to this watch, maybe you should look at the octopus kraken version, built very well…and very comfortable!

Is the crystal scratched or does it have external AR that has been scratched?
No external AR on Tudors.
