2:04 I bring my larynx up so my resonance (?) seems like it just about makes it into the androgynous range, and I try to push my pitch a little higher. Something happens and my voice cracks before being feminine, and if I try to go further it goes into falsetto. I either sound like Morty below the crack, or like the serving 'lady' in the Monty Python "spam" sketch above it >.< Sorry if none of that makes sense, been following transvoice's stuff and trying to make sense of the terminology. Mid 40's cis male, wanting to sometimes present as female.
I think the problem with trying to do quick tutorials like this is that the person giving them always has years of experience that they're trying to condense into something accessible. It just doesn't work because the person giving the lesson doesn't *really* know how they got there, they just found what worked and kept doing it. That's why coaching and/or obsessive practice end up being more useful, because you actually workshop the voice while ignoring the technical stuff.

I'm finding it impossible to change my voice with training. As an older individual transitioning, I've had decades of male voice disorder. I'm seriously thinking about vocal surgery, but would love to not need it done. I've got so much money going out fixing the flawed exterior, I'd rather find someone who could help me achieve my vocal situation without involvement from a surgical team.
I feel and understand your pain and I'm positive you can alter your voice with enough practice and good instruction. In my opinion surgery should be used as the last option. And remember voice therapy is needed even with surgery. Our journey of life is truly of both body and mind. We think we know our bodies, but nope. There's SO much room to learn to use our bodies how we wish (think of an athlete, or a musician and the massive effort to get there). Learning to control the instrument of voice is very empowering, but it does remind me of learning to play any other instrument (aka we must practice a sh*t ton before getting any good and before we want anyone to hear us play, it requires determination etc.). You CAN do things you currently think are impossible. I know so because I did it, and I ain't nothin special, so you can for sure do it too! Best wishes on your journey. 😁
I guess that at some point you have to be realistic. Many people say that these videos are "helpful" but how many managed to really change their voice and if it is the case, how many years of practice did they need?... (Just to watch these videos and try to figure what they are talking about could take a considerable amount of time...) You may practice guitar as much as you want but let's not people think that everybody can become a Jimmy Page.
It's really kind of interesting to me how much the 2nd option for the larynx stuff doesn't make sense to me (the tongue one kind of does, but I'm tongue-tied soo..). Not that I don't understand in a literal sense what the idea is, but that I find myself at a loss at the very beginning on trying to implement the idea "pretend to choke". Makes me wonder if it's something to do with me being autistic and having very poor body awareness. Brains are fascinating.
No worries! Really its about sound. So, on the same pitch lets say G3 - you can find it on google - try to make a dark sound and then a bright sound. Try saying the days of the week and make one sound dark and one sound bright. The ear is the first thing to train. Be sure to record!
As you're learning the exercise, it's a good indicator you're doing it right! Now that you've got the technique down, search for balance by increasing volume and slightly reducing airflow. Most importantly, play with your voice though!

People who really don't know me (call center, store, even many Indian job callers (Usually they simply recognize by distinct name as India has a clear cut name between male and female by birth) . They many a times say mam to me that cannot access your Gender info (BTW, it should be locked down) greet me with mam .. How can I help you. But there are few who would know but will not sir me . I've got a question. When i make a feminin Voice i have the problem that it sounds very fake for me cause i heard a long time in my life a very deep voice. And cause of that tahtvit sounds fake for me it scarred me that it sounds fake for everyone. So my question is how do you normalize this voice for you
Record yourself often and practice a lot! You'll eventually be able to hear your voice objectively and start to work on the nuances. Practice, practice, practice

Just to clarify it is NOT more physically straining on you to speak feminine? I just always assumed physically speaking differently than what we "naturally" speak, aka just what we're more used to at the time, could potentially be more physically demanding (E.G. voice actors can sometimes have more physically demanding voices). I'll even occasionally try and do different accents or higher pitched voices and it seems to be more physically difficult but maybe I'm not doing it correctly (I'm not a professional by any means). You seem quite knowledgeable on voice-stuff so that's why I'm asking that's all. Thanks again. P.S. I should really clarify here we're presuming, before transitioning, you used to talk more masculine. That is why I'm asking if it takes more (physical) strain to talk the way you talk now. I transitioned in 2008 hired a voice professional for 7 months once a week. I still practice. Still I can't seem to get it right. For everyone else my voice is fine. But I'm still being picky. It don't sound as I want it. Maybe one day I finally say f it and move on. But it's like that damn itch! I want to scratch the itch😂
Well, fundamentally you're a person that isn't able to accept yourself for what you are, so it is hardly a surprise that you can't accept your voice for how it is.
1 on 1 would probably be best. We teach! That's our job :) If you have questions or are confused it's our job to help you! Whether it's with us or with another company you should definitely consider 1on1 before giving up. You can do it!

do your own research on it i guess? read and learn about all the common terms and then come back to these videos or just keep looking for a long series of videos that explain things in simpler terms. majority of people find this video helpful based off the comments, sorry you don’t, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. you just have to put in that little bit of effort on your end. don’t just click on a video and tap out when they throw words at you that you don’t understand. learn the words. yes, it’s frustrating, it’s daunting, but you’re never going to get anywhere if you need someone to hold your hand the whole way.

"Bring the root of your tongue as close to...." I have no idea how the root of the tongue could be brought anywhere. I see exercices for the dentist's chair but no one would articulate words and sentences with the mouth wide open like that. There is some mysterious gap from these sounds to a conversation. Honestly, I have watched videos for years and have never found an explanation that was clear to me.

I think she means that you should start introducing some natural speech patterns (pauses, changes in pitch, emphasis on certain syllables, etc) into the monotone robotic voice.

It is much easier both physically and mentally to use my everyday voice than it is to use a masculine one.
