    I am barely getting into in-depth diagnostics, I went with the vantage because of the guided component testing, not only does it tell you were to plug in it also has a known good waveform on there. To me that was a big plus being in a dealership were no one else uses scopes. Also the fact that there was financing so that made it a no brainer. Thanks for the great video!

I use the escope all the time & i love it..I've don'e some diagnostics with Pico scope but then i always go with the Escope coz it's easier & i have all the accessories like In cylinder pressure transducer, intake transducer & exhaust pulse transducer. Plus it has misfire algorithm which is awesome and the ttl which u can send 5 volts pulses to find shorts or pulse igniters or other components.. Its great scope & i enjoy it every day.

    I bought a used PICO 4423 from AES wave. Pretty much seems to do the same as the newer picos except the max input voltage is 100V, so an attenuator is needed for primary ignition. I used velcro to attach it to my laptop with a 1' long lead. I also got the older uscope which was great to learn with.

    A scope is an essential tool for vehicles these days if you want to call yourself a diagnostician.
    I have the Verus Edge and I like it for what it is. I feel she is lacking a little for the price. Next on the list is the Elite 8 kit from ATS with 5 gas and Escan. • @JrSpitty
      @JrSpitty Před rokem +1

      Autel has independent grounds as well. Pico hands down is better though if you are willing to spend the price. I have an autel because it pairs up to my scantool well. Lugging around extra equipment can be annoying. But if you need the resolution of the pico and the autel wont do... that would be my second go to. Software for pico is much better imo too if you are looking to save good waveforms for comparison.

  • @gerardtonno9458
    @gerardtonno9458 Před rokem +2

    PICO and ATS are the only scopes worth considering for automotive use. Maybe the new Autel VCMI that goes with the Ultra tablet as the economical add-on, but the jury is still out on that, and personally I'd rather have my scope as a separate tool so if it goes down I don't lose both my scanner and my scope. Please don't waste your money on anything else. AUTEL has been adopted by more OEMs than any other scope on the market (Mercedes, GM, Chrysler, Kia and so on have all adopted PICO!). That speaks volumes about the quality of a PICO because as you know, OEMs can build their own scope (like Ford did), so for them to adopt someone else's scope means a lot. Bernie Thompson, the Wizard behind ATS has built some of the best automotive diagnostic equipment on the planet, and he has patented it, so no one else has it. The difference between PICO and ATS is like the Ford VS Chevy debate: Each has their advantages and disadvantages, and it boils down to personal preference. Ask: Who provides the best support? PICO and ATS are both awesome! Who has a signature waveform library so you can look up known good patterns? PICO wins that one. PICO's newest scopes now eliminate the need for probe batteries and scale setup. ATS has software written for specific testing that the others don't have. So again, between PICO and ATS it's a matter of personal preference. Whatever you do, DON'T waste your money on a red brick!

  • @killer2600
    @killer2600 Před rokem +2

    Very informative run down. The only thing I hate about all these automotive scopes is the price and how low-end of a scope they sell you for the price. The pico 4425 is a 20 Mhz scope, the EScope doesn't even list their bandwidth in the specs but would be a 500 Khz scope with a low resolution of two samples per cycle, 100 Khz is the more appropriate bandwidth if you want good resolution (they list a sample rate of 1 Mega samples/sec). Meanwhile, the "real" oscilloscope companies have had 100 Mhz scopes for decades now and one can get a new one for WAY cheaper than these "automotive" specific scopes.

    • @treenopie

    On the ATS can I use any pressure transducer and convert it to a pressure measurement easily? Or can I only do that with their transducers?

      Hello sir, I don’t have a great response for that. I have some cheaper transducers I could see if they work or not. What brand transducer are you wanting to use?

      If you get a 500psi it will calibrate with your Snap-On scope. And between the two scopes, that’s a very difficult decision.

    I have the autel scope. I haven’t been able to use it for a relative compression test without a current amp clamp. When I try this test I get so much noise on my graph. Any known reason for this.
    N.b- I never used the current amp clamp for the test

    • @JarheadDiagnostics
      @JarheadDiagnostics  Před 3 lety

      The factory leads on the Autel scope are known for a ton of noise. I would recommend starting with that. Also if a start is going out it can cause it to look noisy as well. But 100% get some new leads. We carry the Warwick leads and they work amazing.
