    Toyota Prado - it’s a name synonymous with off-roading and, evidently, astronomical sales. Over 16,000 in 2014 to be exact, for a market share of a little over 15 per cent.
    So, when Ford Australia announced that the Ranger-based Ford Everest would take on the Prado both in terms of price and off-road ability, we packed our camping gear and hit the bush for some proper off-road driving.
    To put these vehicles into context, they are both ladder frame-based SUVs that are designed to carry seven people and offer class leading off-road capability. Pricing for the Prado starts at $52,990 for the five-seat GX and caps off at $84,490 for the top-specification seven-seat Kakadu.
    The Everest on the other hand starts from $54,990 for the seven-seat Ambiente and finishes at $76,990 for the top-specification seven-seat Titanium.

    Here In India,Prado is almost Three times the price of Everest (Endeavour here)
    So they aren't even competitors.
    But undoubtedly Ford has invested a genuine engg. in this machine if it competes with the mighty prado.

But, if you want to know the true power of the Land Cruiser Prado, then use the 4.0 V6 engine, there's no major changes in the exterior and also interior, but obviously under the hood. Good review guys but has anyone looked at the emission standards on the 2 motors? The Prado 2.8 is setup for Euro 6 emissions while the Everest is an unknown? Can you clarify? Might be why the Prado is only putting out 130kw and 450nm of torque. Does the KDSS not give the Prado a reduced body roll which would give it better on road handling? It will be telling in a few years whether the Everest is still considered a Prado killer when reliability issues might surface for either of these vehicles.
    Toyota have always been behind the eight ball when it comes to mod cons such as electric windows etc. However they make up for it in better quality drive train and components.

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  Před 8 lety +2

      Everest is Euro 6 compliant and uses AdBlue. KDSS helps the Prado, but it's outclassed by the Everest in the handling stakes.

      Kevin Samuel same here. this is why i dont get this comparison. prado is more closer to the Explorer than the eve. the Everest is a direct competition to the Fortuner not the prado. while they are at it why not compare the Ford Fiesta against the Fortuner

    The Everest wins in looks , comfort, styling, value, even if it doesn't keep resale value, spending less up front, so who cares... plus only need to last 5 to 6yrs year's, then upgrade

    both cars drives differently in different battlefield. I have driven both, and i must agree on the on road dynamics the everest has. off road, everest should work hard to keep up with the prado. Interior wise, to me the prado has the edge.my verdict is, if you're looking for a touring, bush bashing and camping vehicle that you'll will set up for that purpose, go with the prado but if you're looking for an everyday car- to city street and the occasional drive to the country side go with the everest, that is, if you're happy to throw 77k for a ford? only time can tell how much will it cost in the next 5 years.

    Everest vs Prado? Seriously? It should be compared with Toyota Fortuner which I will take above the Ford any day. This review is biased because the Ford is an Australian vehicle.

    I'd like to get a Prado but I'm not paying through the nose for old tech and very few creature comforts. I draw the line at around 65k for a vehicle, and the Prado at that price point is a joke compared to others. If I was on a farm and off roading all the time, sure pay the extra for a Prado, but as someone who goes off road maybe 5 times a year, I'll look at other options. The Everest looks alright to me, time to go for a test drive.
