The 1980s was a glamorous time. Dynasty, The Colby’s, Falcon Creat, Dallas, Hotel, Love Boat, and Knots Landing. Everybody wanted to be rich like the Carringtons, Colby’s and Ewings.
It was so wonderful! It was all about being a Carrington!

@@mr.intensity2685 Totally agree. A theme that is heroic with definite echos of Superman should not be the signature music for a television show about a bunch of conniving and backstabbing rich people.
Can you imagine what it cost to commission and produce the music for these opening credits? I just keep envisioning a 40-piece orchestra and a tuxedoed conductor.
Youngstown529 that’s basically what they used. Back then, fans looked forward to the opening theme because it got us ready for an amazing night. Gone are those days..
TV today has no memorable theme tunes, just like the shows.
The only shows that have epic openings now are the streaming shows.
Avevo 14 anni ma me la ricordo bene questa sigla, ho seguito I Colby praticamente fino alla fine; peccato per quel finale assurdo perché la serie nel complesso non era male. Sable era la regina indiscussa della soap, i suoi duelli con Connie prima e con Fallon poi davano un po' di pepe alla storia.

Wanted to see the L.A. sites John James and Maxwell Caulfield. Dishy.
....and Charles Van Eman as Sean McCallister, the Ecology Minded boyfriend of youngest Colby daughter Bliss.
Maxwell Caulfield and Michael Praed (Ex-Miles & Ex-Prince Michael) also acted on The UK Soap Opera Emmerdale.
They were also both on Casualty. Stephanie Beacham guest starred in Casualty. Emma Samms appeared in it’s spin-off, Holby City. Maxwell Caulfield’s Casualty character died in a crossover episode, which is a Holby City episode.

I think Kathrine Ross was miscast, she did not have the elegance or class of Sable or the others.
Looking back you are so right. I think that they could have gotten Jamie Lynn Bauer (Ex-Laura Horton #2) Days Of Our Lives (Ex-Lorie Brooks) The Young & The Restless.
Kate O'Mara was supposed to play Frankie but had a last minute conflict.
I agree and her acting was lethargic. She had no allure or energy for a night time soap
yea i do think kate o'mara could've made a better Frankie, and put her up against Sable
She and Stephanie Beacham (Ex-Sable) also acted on the UK Series Bad Girls. Kate played a High Class Madam named Virginia O'Kane while Stephanie played Phyl Oswin who along with her Best Friend sold Bogus Real Estate which was Swamp Land.
Where's Barbara Stanwyck and Joe Campanella?
Season 2 Credits I think. They bowed out at the end of Season 1 as far as I remember. Connie's opening credit scene with the double doors is iconic. How to make an entrance!

How nice of John Williams to allow them to use his theme from Superman. This show was abysmal
I have a question. When they showed The Nightclub Scene were they all extras who were told to go and dance on the floor. It looked like an exciting time. I'm sure that The two African American Guys were probably Up And Coming Lawyers or learning The Stock Market Trade.

Underrated show. They should have done better. Hell they had the iconic Barbara Stanwyck starring in the first season, but failed to keep her content of the story.
You're SO right! They dropped the ball...Barbara Stanwyck could've been a BOSS in the vein of Angela Channing (Jane Wyman) of "Falcon Crest"...but I guess they were unsuccessfully leaving that up to Charlton Heston. But Stephanie Beacham SURE came through!

Oh I think this is fabulous. It encapsulated everything from the 80s. Over the top excess and he kind of threw in his Dynasty theme over Superman. HAHA. LOVE IT!!!!!
Composed by Bill Conti who composed the Dynasty and Falcon Crest themes and wrote the original Rocky movie soundtrack.
