    Stephanie Beacham is remarkable. I remembered her when she played a few episods only In the sixth season of the "Dynasty". The scene in the bathroom with her was very sexual.Then we see her in the ninth season and we have an impression that she always had been. I don’t think the actors disagree, but you can’t deny, yes, there are shades of Dallas in the creation of Dynasty, however… there was enough talent to attract a viewership, and for producers to believe it needed something extra to make it work even better. Without Alexis, Crystal was torn between two men. And her getting along with Fallon was inevitable, so you needed a sworn enemy, who brought out Crystal’s toughness. There was more for Jeff and Claudia to do, there was also the inclusion of Heather in order to gain a teenage audience and interest in the program. The way enjoyed the first season, I think the second season is the best. Seasons, three and four are good. Season five with the Moldavian massacre that’s where it begins to let us down story wise. And that’s a shame because there were so many things they could have done to reinvigorate the program.

      Sable was too much of an Alexis wannabe. Her character was filler.

    • @graphiquejack
      @graphiquejack Před 6 lety +1

      I never saw Sable as a carbon copy of Alexis. Alexis rarely had any tender moments, even with her children. She was a straight up bitch 100%. Sable was more nuanced. She could be ruthless and bitchy at times, but you could also see that she was very loving and protective of her children, and she kept loving Jason even after her divorced her for her sister. I think she was someone who could love deeply, and Alexis was just cold to the bone.
      I find it interesting that Sable's character was probably not intended to be much of a character on the show, based on the billing that put her after Katherine Ross and Emma Samms, and out of the star spot given to Barbara Stanwyck. My hunch is that she was intended to be someone who you were supposed to hate and she'd be ousted quickly for Frankie, but the fans clearly loved her and they boosted her role on the show.

    Al Corley is straight and played a gay character. Gordon Thompson is gay and played a straight character. I just find it weird that the majority of gay roles in cinema, both film and tv, are played by heterosexual men. Dynasty was fine soap opera drama, at least for the first five seasons. After that, the writers seem to have reached a plateau in believable story lines, and hence the series decline amongst its core audience. I was a huge Dallas and Dynasty fan, but if I recall I lost interest in Dynasty and did not watch the last two seasons.
