    Fiberglass insulation has glass particles that can be airborne and get into your lungs. That's why professionals that install r-15 insulation wear a n-95 respirator. Make sure you wipe down the bag and make sure there are no holes (to prevent glass particles becoming airborne).

    I've worked out on traditional heavy bags czcams.com/users/postUgkxp9-sf95nqfjey-uyzxUzQ7m9MXRPK1BE a spherical stuffed "wrecking ball" bag, and now this thing. What I like about it is that it has the heft to stay largely in place so I'm not chasing it around. It's tall enough to allow for headshots and body shots, but it's short enough to give an uppercut somewhere to land. I'm very happy so far. Filling it was a bit of a cluster. For top-offs, I've learned that you can screw the supplied nozzle onto any basic plastic water bottle. I can't speak to durability as I've only had it a week.

    Much better then what I did. Fill it with lose sand to the top. Which made it impossible to hang - if you could even lift it. It’s currently in my garage on the floor and weighs over 300lbs easily. Which is what brought me here.

  • @Rruns26
    @Rruns26 Před 3 lety +3

    Carpet pad makes a good liner and gives the bag a nice smooth feel. I asked a carpet guy doing a new install if he usually has some leftover pad after the install. He said yes and I stopped by later and he gave me more than enough. You can line the bag with several layers then fill the middle with weight, or you can use nothing but carpet pad. Depending on the feel you’re going for. I built a bag with nothing but tightly rolled carpet pad (it was really compressed, it’s a two man job) covered with a layer of duct tape. It was tight and hard work getting it in the bag, but once I got it inside the bag, it hit great. It works well for me.

    • @Rruns26
      @Rruns26 Před 3 lety +2

      Using carpet pad as a liner, prevents the bag from looking lumpy.

    • @Rruns26
      @Rruns26 Před 3 lety +2

      One more thing... This particular bag was a canvas military duffel bag. I paid $5 for the bag and the pad was free. I wanted an old school bag. I did it for grins, but I ended up with a nice hitting bag. You don’t always have to spend a lot of money to get a good workout. It hits better than some of my expensive bags.

    I did this months ago. It would pay to buy a bag with padding already stitched into the inner. The individual sand bags are a staple. Uniformity and slightly more firm than one thinks. Great editing. There was nothing wrong with your first version. ;) You need some other fill than insulation and sand. A clothing like substance or something similar to break up the consistency. Physics and gravity. (A theory is, there is no gravity but, just the bending of space time and objects fall with no attraction) The sand will try to find the closest point to the Earth's core. In layman terms: sand will fill the open spots it can fit into at the lowest point of the bag. So, over time it is necessary to have a break up or stop gap/dam filler, so the sand won't meander down to the bottom of the bag or within the first seconds of filling it.

    I'm looking to do exactly this but also I'm using it for muay Thai so ill be putting it through kicks elbows and knees as well, Does this insulation tactic still work for that?

    I’m thinking the same thing but I was told to fill a pvc pipe with sand in the middle and wrap the insulation around the pipe in the bag.

    Re: Leather, Genuine Leather is industry speak for "Leather dust bonded together with resin". Full grain is natural leather and very thick, like quarter inch or 7mm. Top grain in made by splitting the top of full grain leather from the bottom, which becomes known as Split Grain leather which is often patterned and sealed. The dust made during these operations is what they make Genuine Leather from.

    Great video. What length is the bag? I want something that's long enough for both punches and kicks.

    Great video, I got a quick question if anyone knows the answer. I'm thinking about buying a 7' Muay Thai bag, would this be too soft for kicks? Now granted I don't want it to feel like I'm hitting a cement wall

    Would you recommend this version for kicks on a 6 foot bag?
