The movie exceeded my expectations. It's like a very good Twilight Zone episode.
Throughout most of the movie I thought it was one kind of story and then it turned out to be something else.

I really enjoyed this movie, it was creepy enough and it reminded me of signs, I did have some questions about the property taxes as well 😅
I thought that the "globs" were the aliens, I thought it looked like these little glob things were going around and infecting different races and overtaking each species once they have exhausted the resources of the planets, I thought the grey aliens were like the humans and were overtaken by the globs as well but maybe I'm way off. The crop circles were places where each person had a memorable event happen, if you notice that there was a circle right where her friend's dad found out his daughter died, are you guys sure you watched the same movie as me? 😄
Also, there are only 3 words spoken in this entire movie (I didn't notice it until the end) and this actress carries the whole tone with just her facial expressions which I felt was extremely well done.
I love this movie so much. As someone who lives with social anxiety, this film does a fantastic job of display putting on masks . I'm glad that there is a film like this. People who do not fit into the society they live in ...Aliens are so cute 😂😂

It was okay for not having any dialogue. It also put me the mind of signs. I agree the whole thing was a bit of a stretch.
A swing and a miss for me... like who cares if she feels bad for the murder. She was never punished for it. She never really did time for the crime...So therefore she doesnt get a full pass from me for what she did.. i find it hard to believe that her regret was truly sincere. Just surface level atonement..It was a stretch..
She never did time? She spent many years isolated in her home, shunned by everyone around her, and had no one but herself, to the point where she was ok with her neighbors being parasitic alien clones, as long as she had some kind of an interaction and association with them. I believe that counts as some sort of punishment for the crime she committed as a child.

I give it 4/5 it was amazing. She carried this movie so well. She had me from the beginning. So intense throughout. I would watch this again.

Yea. The Alien gets seen in the first 10 mins of the movie. Like full on, perfect shot of it. It was way way way too early. After that the movie was no longer scary imo.

Spontaneous was really good through the first and second act and kinda goes off the rails the last act. Still was unique.
I had a totally different interpretation of this movie’s ending. I don’t think the aliens “threw her back like a fish.” I think everything after she does her slo-mo fall through the white light is just a sort of dream she’s experiencing while in the throes of an alien-induced trance, like we saw earlier with the other characters.

Movie blooper the gash on her head was on one side when she looked in car mirror, and on another side when she was in shower, and on the other side again after she was dressed after shower. 😮

Thanks for your review and explanation of this movie. I did not care for it at all! This little meek girl kills like 4 aliens, really? And they beem her up to the mother ship and then let her go back home? The ending was sooooo ridiculous, almost like a child-like fantasy. It was listed as horror, but it was far from it. A confusing, ridiculous, goopy mess. It should have been labeled as a sci-fi fantasy. Keep up the good work, guys!
That rock was not big enough to kill that girl and far away as she was
Adrenaline from anger. Ppl can absolutely get hit with rocks and die, plus it's not like the girl was big. She looked like the typical small 11 or 12 year old girl. Not hard to believe she could've got hit in the head with a rock and died.

@@MadailinBurnhope Brynn didn't actually throw the rock at Maude though. She hit her with the rock still in her hand causing Maude's death. Specifics like that make a difference and even still, whether a person throws a rock at someone or hits them with it in their hand, they can still live or in the movie's case die.

I really wanted to like this, (I like the actress), but it was really campy and I wanted it to be more serious and dark.

Someone hyped this movie up. Maybe that's why I hate it so much. I was waiting for the amazing part, the OMG moment or something.... Anything. This movie was a waste of time. Nothing gets explained except her past trauma but then it's like so what?? How does that move the plot forward? What does her trauma have to do with an alien invasion? Why'd they let her go? What was that ending? WHY WAS THERE NO SCRIPT?? I think the director did that just to say he did it. The actress was amazing, especially with no script but that's where the positives end.
To sum it up, she is the alien in her home town just like the alien, hence they let her go coz they can't control her like they do with the others, like she was literally put the alien in her and somehow she resisted their control and the reason why they can't control her was coz of her grief.
Just went to watch!!! This was a trash movie 😂😂 she kept doing the same stuff over and over and over again. It was random and all over the place. I mean she was a great actress but the plot was garbage. The amount of heavy breathing when hiding is as crazy and i also agree with the property taxes thing…i kept wondering about that. Then the aliens were honestly producing the same sounds over and over again.
If you like a movie with screaming, gasping and out of breath sounds with no dialogue then you will like this movie...i did not really believe she could realisticly go whole movie without saying a word.Why the aliens did not use their powers to freeze and catch her in the first escape what really made me think this was a whole lot of bull.
Just saw it. Loved it.
I think that the aliens were so advanced that they could revive their death hints, the alien with large arms came back when she got lifted, so it wasn't a big deal for them when one of their own died, which is why they didn't have an issue by letting the protagonist live.
it's basically night of the living dead with aliens and you see the alien(s) a lot, points for that. definitely felt like a twilight zone episode, but i agree about the child murder lol the character was actually kinda relatable to me until that reveal 😅

I liked it very much. It was very intense in spots. Kaitlyn Dever was great.
I was a little confused because the mom’s headstone said 1972 - 2019. So since mom died young, I thought Brynn caused an accident, that killed her mom and sister. Then I realized Maude was her friend! So mom just died super young and left Brynn the house.
Decent Review. I think that you might need to watch it again to catch the parts you're guessing because most of the stuff is answered in the environment and the performance of Brynn. I agree the movie wasn't as scary as it could of been but I thought it was fascinating. New Sub!
the friend was born 2000 and died 2012 so im assuming the main character was 12 aswell and the whole town hate her for what she died as a kid is crazy ,idk why i didnt like the fact the whole town is ttreating her badi wish she could of told the town but i guess it all worked out for the main character in the end
Ummm doc here & she got pushed to the ground during a fight(prob over something small), yet she took a blunt rock & smashed her skull in…… ummm that’s going to stay with not only the girl that killed her friend, but in a small town, it’s going to stay with the rest of everyone too. That’s how small towns work, she killed someone, at an age where she knew death or major injury would come from blunt force trauma. Sooooo noooooo…. I see this quite often, sadly, today though most preteens-teens are either put in jail or sent to a psych treatment facility until they turn eighteen at least. Also, it was a cops kid, I mean come on, poor writing. They just wanted to lay it on THICK, & again sadly we know a lot, not all, but a lot of cops misuse the power they’re given. Again, makes sense she would be branded a as a killer for the rest of her life. She should’ve moved=prob solved.

This movie was a combination of Signs, Invasion of the Body Snatcher, and Alien, it's the best horror/thriller I’ve seen all year.

This movie was filmed in the neighborhood I grew up in...many parts were creepy but some were silly
I think when the whole Brynn killed Maude scenes happened, I had almost no sympathy for Maude. It seemed as if Brynn was running away from her, was pushed to the ground, & maybe she felt like her so-called bff really was intent on hurting her that night?! Lemme tell ‘ya, a sheriffs kid w/ a psycho mom (she gave off that well to do, put-together, church leader woman who talks mad shit behind your back vibe), makes it seem like Maude was quick to violence when not getting her way, & the death seemed more self defense or accidental to me. Honestly, even if the parents knew exactly what happened between the 2 girls that night, how could you hate someone w/ so much vileness you spit on them? My friend’s parents always treated me like their own kid, & vice versa. Who produces enough spit to SPIT in a person’s face? A psycho who blames you & can’t forgive or understand that her daughter was in the wrong!
Anyway, love listening to your breakdown of the movie, I didn’t understand if the ending was what you guys said; they sent her back to teach the aliens humanity, or if she was still aboard the saucer w/ all the other townsfolk, & they ALL were just in their heads & each others & sharing collaborative thoughts. ✌️❤️
Movie is way too dark and blue/grey. Enough with the ugly Twilight filters. It makes everything look ugly and cheap.
The ending was rushed and definitely far-fetched after everything that was shown prior, throughout.
Finally reviewers with some good taste. All I see online is people trying to explain the ending and come up with reasonings to what it means and why it makes sense. When in reality, the movie was just poorly written.
At first it was giving the typical Dream Catcher parasitic, planet hoping alien species, but the final act makes me think differently. What if the glob actually doesn't mean anything except for a way to possess? Nothing more or less. The focus for me were the type of aliens. That really tall one and the little one were more like soldiers, but the other type was clearly stronger and smarter. I think in the end they felt like she'd be more useful to study versus possessing and decided to give her a dream world while they worked. 3/5.
Thought it was great. i'm not sure on your take on the ending. I though the end was her being taken over by the black mercy like thing that puts you in a fake perfect world that is extremely hard to escape.
I also think everyone, all of Earth or at least this town is in a human zoo from the start of the movie. the aliens removed everyone's ability to talk for some reason.
The Invaders epidode via Twilight Zone was in the second season...which scared the absolute bejesus out of me as a kid. My family went through an alien obsessed phase ironically after we visited the White Mountains in 1992. Intruders w Mare Whittingham, Communion, and Fire In The Sky didn't help matters at all 😆. I digress, but per usual, thanks for the review guys. 😉

I completely disagree with your review and would actually say watch it again. I personally think it was one of the best films of the year. It didn't need over the top jump scares. Its actually probably up there as one of the best alien movies made as it doesn't go down that aliens must be threat agenda like most movies do.

We saw this at a screening & I had high hopes(from the trailer)…. Yet the lead LITERALLY said like maybe 10 words😂😂😂. Plus she very easily killed the aliens, yet no one had a knife or a gun & we’re clearly in small town USA😂, so that’s just a nope. Whoever cut the trailer needs an award for making us think this was going to be a potential “cult classic”.

i hated it ive seen better graphics on an atari 2600. the actress only had the ability of one facial expression throughout the whole movie. the aliens looked like someone had given a 4yr old a piece of paper and crayon said draw an alien then just animated it. the music sounded like it was free download off movavi video editor and the sounds of the ships and aliens sounded like they was taken off a free stock audio site...i had been waiting to see this and its 90 minutes of my life ill never get back

Great to disagree! That’s what I’m here for, to hear other opinions I can’t complain. I think the movies a 4/5, especially considering the budget and the directors experience . Passion project vibes to me, it’s got that old grandmas cookies ingredient of love and/or talent. Best of luck to u two
