I was in love for years with contact cement but... It was driving me crazy when it was becoming more cement that glue. So I stop. Now I can go back to my experiments con leather, cardboard and, so on. Thanks Wayne. I really appreciated watching your presentation. You are good and entertaining. Keep up the good job
I’ve been using the gel for a while now and I actually love it, the fact that it doesn’t run at all makes it super easy to apply for me. But to the point this is actually super useful, I should look around for that stuff 🤔
Wow, I waste so much contact glue because it dries to quick. And I was always wondering why people even bother with glue pots. These are so awesome tips, and something I never seen a tutorial of.
really enjoyed this video! i had no idea this existed and it works so well
also, this shirt really speaks to me. I swear i need to work out for the sanding muscles.
Could you use acetone to thin contact cement? I’m looking specifically at dap contact cement
Thank you, really useful tip.
Contact cement usually contains Acetone that keeps it in its fluid form.
Great thanks. You are saving the world. ;)
omg amazing! I usually buy small cans because of this problem :O
Acetone works fine for thinning it.
Do you recomand this adhesive to roof lining on cars? Does it releass the smell of VOC for long period of Time?
My brand doesn't have a thinner but it says to use mineral spirits to clean it. Should I use that to thin it?
I hope you hear this but where did you get that bison glue the one with the brush on the cap.
Helpful video! Thanks!!
THANK YOU!!!!
Hi pls how do i get the brush clean so i can re use it after using the contact cement. I am tired of trowing my brush away. Any solvent i can use pls.
What is the brand of the thinner
Thanks
Dose it works with superglue???
May I know is bison contact glue having awful smell? I'm planning to laminate a tv feature wall with contact adhesive, but some of the brands have that awful smell and it seems doesn't go away even after months. Is bison contact glue low VOC or formaldehyde?
It's pretty smelly
For Contact Cement use lighter fluid as a thinner. Barge use Acetone.
I've tried acetone with Barge. No luck. Lighter fluid might work.
@@pequodexpress Barge uses heptane as it's primary solvent. You can buy heptane (even on amazon) but it's pricey unless you're buying large quantities. Weldwood uses several solvents; heptane, toluene, MEK, and naptha (lighter fluid). So lighter fluid may work better with Weldwood's chemistry than Barge's.
I can’t find one for barge infinity cement. Please help Dwayne.
the barge thinner is especially made for their all purpose cement, check if that thinner is compatible with their infinity line.
we cant get barge here in the netherlands so i cant really know for sure.
also... its Wayne...
Hello,
I have used all these substances, and the only thing they do is either change the composition of the contact cement or sit on top of the dried contact cement. Also, the contact cement I use is a highly active glue and eats plastic containers; therefore, I think what you indicate is a mild chemical that cannot bring dried high-quality contact cement (3-M) to the original glue with the same properties. Now, would you have anything else in mind that would do the job; some factories do not sell to the public because of the safety issues laws, especially in California, USA. Moreover, I could use the combination of Hydrochloric, Hydrofluoric, and Sulfuric Acids; nevertheless, it is a very unsafe process.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Best regards,
Apparently the Evo-Stik (UK) cleaner doesn't work like that. The search for the perfect non stringy contact adhesive goes on! I'll just have to keep importing Pliobond. :)
Thanks for trying it out and sharing the info
Can we use this for wet areas?
Unsure what you mean, thin wet areas???
Any non polar solvent will work. Naphtha, Xylene or Acetone.
Where do you buy this in the Netherlands? Online?
hornbach has it
When thinning it, why does it works best to use paper instead of cloth? That blew my mind, i dont understand what happened haha. Thanks man
Well the paper gets gross and then you can just toss it 😁
@@WaynesWorkshop im currently doing this on the soles of my shoes before i reglue it. Maybe you have some other tips? Im using acetone and paper haha
Virgin thinner literally is a thinning for just about all chemical products
8:01 I 'contacted' the store and we got stuck while on the phone. The Thinning Agent was out on a Diet Commercial. Shucks!
you did not say what was in the little can ! Acetone ??? or ??? I need to buy a larger amount. So now I am back to square one ! Sad Face :(
I sand, I die, I sand again...yep
Useless
He doesn't give details about the solvent part no. Etc
