I think apart from James Gandolfini, Tony Sirico was the best casting on the show. He and Frank Vincent tried out for Uncle Junior but both got roles more suited to them. Success of a show relies on chemistry of actors. The casting agent, who is Christopher Walken's wife, really outdid herself.

Sad to read this morning that Tony Sirico has passed away. He did such an amazing job with the character Paulie Walnuts that in the history of Mafia characters on television and movies he will never be forgotten.
Another awesome line that Paulie has is when Christopher tells the gang that by the year 2027 his daughter will be in college and Paulie tells him, “If she’s anything like you, she won’t get past the fourth grade and it won’t matter anyway because she’ll be working here at the Bing.”
