A Dynasty occurs when third parties recognize the school as a dynasty.

I sometimes wonder how reaching the final four in '20, win or lose, would have effected the Freshies in the seasons to follow. It's difficult to imagine that group getting four shots and not getting 2.
I agree with your take. But I'm going to say they're a minor dynasty. If someone looks at the last 5 seasons on Wikipedia 20 years from now the Gamecocks will probably get credit for 2020. Someone would have to dig just a little and see the beating they gave LSU in '23 and consider the Gamecocks the best team in '23 (which they were).
