crazy that this thing was $40 but im kinda blown away at the simple yet effective 80s engineering that this figure pulls off and all the diecast is nice. only gripe about the figure is i hated putting on the stickers
Absolutely excellent review and comparison. I like the og version better and it’s still available at Walmart.com and was for 49.99 and reduced to 39.99 still too high. Great review and very comprehensive. Now if they reissue blitZwing accurately or even springer I’m in for those I always preferred those two but astrotrain is also right up there but I hope they go down to 20.00 because I really do want it but I agree that price is too high
Been a while, man, on both our ends. :) Yep, I bought the Astrotrain reissue over a year ago, and then bought Blaster some months after that. I never owned Astrotrain as a kid, but I will say that he's a good 1985 TF toy, even if he's not quite as good as the 1985 Blitzwing toy (which I _did_ have way back when). Astrotrain _does_ stand up better in robot mode, though. Astrotrain transforms well, but I initially had issues with flipping the nosecone back and forth until I discovered that the joint it rotates on can be pushed out a bit so it clears better, just as you showed in the vid. I'm also glad to see that the legs are supposed to wiggle a bit as you pull them out. I probably overdid pulling them out a bit 'cuz the left leg wiggles a little more than the left. Overall, another good G1 toy.
Only Walmart reissue I had when I was five or six in the mid 80s,it's only really worth it if you had the same one that's been lost for 30 years.I had got a couple other reissues after the went on clearance but I couldn't wait to get this one even though it's going to be $20 in a couple of months.
Yes definitely going on clearance! They had 6 or more at 4 different locations near me ! And 3don't think people are still collecting with the virus out here.
At 16:45 - I noticed that the wings on the original has a half circular cut at the bottom near it's waist. The reissue has it squared off. However - I have also seen squared of versions on the original too...
I jacked astrotrain from a neighbor as a kid (6yrs old)because he was dragging it thru the mud. I took it home gave it a bath then I put it to dry on the window sill. The kid saw it and knocked on my door, moms whip my ass. I never forgot about astrotrain. Couple of days ago I ordered one from Walmart $29 and received two. Felt like I won the lotto

After about a month of deciding whether I should keep it or not I decided to return it and use the funds for the Neca TMNT at GameStop. He looks great, but the price is too high. I’ll try to keep on eye on him and get one for sale if he ever drops in price.
Target on Plymouth and Middlebelt in Livonia Michigan. They were in the back . A sales associate asked me what I was looking for then he went to check and they had 3 I purchased 2 a week ago Saturday.
I absolutely love transformers toys, i have quite a few of them myself. I'm not trying to be funny or or disrespect. Not too crazy about the bot mode, the arms looks too short, he looks like he has breast (BOOBS) in bot mode if his wings are not covering his chest, plus he looks like a train standing up right from behind. Other than that its a cool toy to have in your collection.
1:45 The box artwork includes the modes that are not visible in-box. He's in shuttle mode in the box, so the art is robot and train.

The 80's Transformers Fan well... blaster was very cheap looking back in the day so as long as it’s under 40 I’m ok with
