I like the fact that there’s scenes where there’s almost nothing going on, like the gas station. It gives space for the audience to ponder and appreciate the art style and sound design.
The scenes also serve a deeper purpose. They establish the general mood and feel of the protagonist's life. Which is important as a contrast to her time at the daycare and with the ship.
2:13 this particular scene isn't that empty. When she looked at the stars it showed us she thinks about her family, so that part is quite sad or melancholic to think about it. But yeah, the art style is nice.
I love how you made the aliens drawn in marker and feel friendly and childlike. They felt artistically like they were sepetate from the world and it worked so well
I love how the title can refer to “mothership” as in being a mom - but also as “mothership” like an alien mothership/spacecraft. Great detail and amazing effort was put into this masterpiece of a project.
Adding to this, i think it also adds the fact that mothership is actually not much seen in the animation except for of course the kid's mom, but i think it has another sense too about the protagonist and her mother probably, or family in general, and how this one was raised to feel like she is different from others and want to escape this world
Because English isn’t my mother tongue, and because I am super sleepy, my brain first read the title as “mother-ship”, like being a mother, and/or combination of “mother” and “friendship”. It wan’t until the ending card, where I realized it (also) referred to an alien mothership. That is so clever!
so so beautiful and a lovely way of storytelling! i really love your character designs and touching upon on not belonging on earth is such an interesting concept! amazing work
I relate so much to this film. I've never wanted children of my own, yet I'm good at connecting with kids, maybe I'm a little bit like a kid still inside lol. I treat every encounter with a kid in a way that I'm present and listen and talk with them, not to them. I find that enough to fullfill my need to interact with kids. I also feel that many of those who do have children, forget to be present for them on the daily basis, because they're so busy and tired and look at the world only from the "adult" perspective. I think that's a real tragedy.
@@izabellearmin5778 yeah, I think many people also make miscalculations (or don't even consider the whole subject when having children) to how much money, time and mental energy even just one kid needs to grow up to be a healthy adult. I’m extremely glad I was surprised by this stunning animation, storyline, and overall project. The colors tell such a large story, each interaction is extremely heart-warming, and natural. This made me cry due to the fact I’ve always felt like an alien when everyone around me is so different, and always made me feel different. Everything I do looks foreign to everyone, and it feels like I don’t belong anywhere. Really stunning animation and amazing storyline. 👍
this is genuinely so emotionally moving, i cried a little when they gave them the picture. gift giving is so meaningful in many ways and i think this certainly is one, showing how people can be connected in subtle ways is fond and endearing, and oddly enough; not shown as much as it deserves to be! genuinely stunning!
I remember around middle school or the beginning of high school thinking the exact same thing like, I didn’t belong on this planet because I was starting to question my own individualism or sense of being. Thank you for making this and reminding me of those times just to see how much I’ve grown from it. I recently became a father and can’t wait until I can have this kind of a conversation with my son
I mean the drawing as a metaphor for their connection, their similarities and what it admits about the more childlike aspects of her escapism, just great. I mean really fucking nice work, the style is well realized, it doesn't try to do too much but doesn't become visually boring. And the simple lines and pastel color give it a "children show" asthetic that really drives home your themes, especially when contrasted to the darker tones of the gas station.I really hope you keep making art.
This is one of the most relatable things I've ever watched. Stargazing, feeling like I'm not "home"... Even one of the alien designs is super similar to something an alien I've imagined before for some reason. (the one that looks like an ameba) Anyway, amazing animation, super cute and comfy

The pacing and story telling here was phenomenal, i was constantly engaged not knowing what direction the plot would follow. That one scene at the gas station was SOOO good for pacing.
wow. maybe it is just the way this reminds me of how i felt watching shin chan or doraemon for the first time as a child in class 2 or 3, but this ~4.5 minute long cartoon made me feel so calm, at ease with what i am today. the everyday life shown here is so minimalistic yet so relatable down to the shopkeeper clicking away at the counter, down to the way the protag slowly closes her eye in a wink only to open it back when the mom arrives but still speaking for a second or two more... and the artstyle is so adorable. so, so, so well-done! would love to see more of this!

Ah man you can't do that, you can't have me start crying at the very end of the short cause of the small, basic kindness that makes every day worth going through, that small kindness that you'll always remember. That ending was just so beautiful I teared up on instinct. Absolutely amazing short. I sincerely hope you get to do what you love in life and get to live life your way, cause a short like this touched a lot of people and gave them a small moment of kindness that so many need.
So sweet and so down-to-earth…er well, you know what I mean… 🛸👽 For real though, I teared up; I adored the writing, storytelling, art, and animation in this! The dissonance between real life and dreams, leading to the eventual connection between the two was so well executed! For anyone who’s ever felt like “the weird kid”, this hits different. (The aliens were also so cute!! The doodley style was a perfect touch there!)

I used to think I didn't belong in this planet too, doing the exact same thing, looking at the stars for long periods of time when in need. No one ever came, but that doesn't stop me from looking at them every so often. I come back to this animation constantly too. Thank you.
I definitely can relate to the woman in this animation. Not feeling like you belong, feeling alien. But for me it's not necessarily about the world around me, but my generation. I really love the message here!

I really connected to this, it is beautiful. The smile at the end made me cry. I've been in therapy for years, and its amazing how this animation says so much without having to show what the character has gone through. After trauma its hard to open up and be vulnerable, but she shared her experience with this kid and he listened and made her a picture... I wasnt expecting have all these emotions when I clicked this video, lol! This reminds me why I love animation so much. I hope I can make art like this someday.

Dang. This made me cry and remember how I felt like I had a mothership when I was a kid. My mom told me she had a dream of me before I was born, that I was living in space and had blue skin before I was brought to her.
This is a such an unexpected treat from my recommendations. This is a neat and endearing animation about how vivid imagination isn’t only for children.
I don't know why I consider this immensely beautiful or why it brought tears to my eyes and a smile on my face, but I can say this is an amazing project. 4 minutes of absurd beauty, meaning, and good animation is rare to find.
I can not Xpress how amazing the animation mixed with the colors and the plot and the characters it was so nice It fit together so nicely really thing this creator should get more attention❤

This is so gorgeous!!! I love the colors and the character design so much!!! 💚💚💚 I especially like how the aliens were hand drawn in crayon, so pretty :D
This made me wanna cry tears of joy 😊 This is so wonderful and shows that as long as we reach out and speak our truths, great things will follow our paths as we learn to be honest to others and ourselves and always be open to hardship and lending a hand to those struggling to understand themselves, which in turn gives us greater understanding of ourselves as well and we can see our selves in the eyes of others and dream of amazing things. This world is great if we just allow it to be.

I used to think I didn't belong in this planet too, doing the exact same thing, looking at the stars for long periods of time when in need. No one ever came, but that doesn't stop me from looking at them every so often. I come back to this animation constantly too. Thank you.
Can't really identify why, but this animation gave me the same feeling as a studio ghibli film. Very soft and comforting
Such a lovely film!!! I really love the character design and the change in style for the aliens :)
I love how the alien were drawn like they were drawn by a child like the crayon colours n stuff its amazing
The most wholesome thing ive seen all day, its a nice change from my strict diet of trains
"AY PERO MI AMOR
¿QUÉ LE PASO A TU CLOTHES ?"
Loved that
I definitely can relate to the woman in this animation. Not feeling like you belong, feeling alien. But for me it's not necessarily about the world around me, but my generation. I really love the message here!
Really nice and wholesome, I come back to watch this constantly. Thanks! (:
HELP THIS WAS AMAZING trying not to cry from how cute this is
Oh my god this is so adorable !!! The art style is so characteristic and cute !! Also I can’t get over the little kids they melt my heart 😭
I love watching student films every year when they come out!! This is definitely no exception, all the elements of this film mesh together so well!
Teachers or teaching assistants when they explain smt in their past life feels like a new fact and makes them happy
wow this is one of my new most favourite animated films..........i love love LOVE all the design work and the sound and the music and the voice acting...woow
I’m loving the art and animation style of this, it’s so aesthetically pleasing, also the fact that the mothership and aliens in the dream look like children’s drawings are such a good detail
I feel like this can be in Netflix because how sweet and amazing this is
i love this so much. i really enjoyed the character's commute and all of your colors. the drive home where someone beeps at her to scoot 3 feet made me laugh. very realistic :') and it made me really relate to the character
so beautiful, i cried
Hi Asia, I really really really love this animation, so wholesome. I like your style too. Keep making amazing animations, and hope to see more of these on your channel. I'm a huge fan of one of your seniors, Mewtrippled and I wish you to be as successful as her or more
This video makes me incredibly happy for no reason. I love the charming touches in the art style and the fact that her alien mothership is a sail boat. Very adorable and comforting video 💜
Clicked the video thinking the kid in the thumbnail was Brock
He wasn't but I'm not disappointed, vary interesting video
What a beautiful story. The style also tooke me back to when i was about that kids age. Growing up watching Crayon shin-chan

if you want to know, the mother says "Ay pero mi amor, ¿Qué le paso a tus 'clothes'? "
i guess idk(?
¿¿Por qué me llenas de blood?? 😨
@@carleqq yeah ur right !! ^_^
Ur right but she didn’t say ropa😭
Needs so much more love, this is so amazing!! 😭

Car behind the slaughter
Such a great animator
I like all the other styles like the cartoon style for example it's just a fun little animation, keep up the work
I don't know why I consider this immensely beautiful or why it brought tears to my eyes and a smile on my face, but I can say this is an amazing project. 4 minutes of absurd beauty, meaning, and good animation is rare to find.
I can not Xpress how amazing the animation mixed with the colors and the plot and the characters it was so nice It fit together so nicely really thing this creator should get more attention❤
This makes me feel both sad and fuzzy inside, amazing work! I hope to become someone who can make cool things like this :)
Definitely an underrated short film here, enjoyed ever second of those 4 minutes! Amazing job and I can’t wait to see what other animations you make!
This is really great! I am amazed by the story telling and animation style, all fits together perfectly. Really great job!
what a beautiful and cute little animation! even in the scenes where nothing is happening, the sound design and animations makes it feel like you are really there. I hope you will have gone on to do great things in the future :D
AAAAAA!! OMG I LOVED THIS SHORT FILM! The art style is so beautiful and simple, and don’t even make me started in the shape language of this video! The story is really nice, the art amazing and the voice acting really good. I’m so happy that this film got that many views in only 12 days, and I hope it gets more eventually! I’m for sure putting some scenes in my inspiration board (if that’s cool to you..)!
This is so gorgeous!!! I love the colors and the character design so much!!! 💚💚💚
I especially like how the aliens were hand drawn in crayon, so pretty :D
This made me wanna cry tears of joy 😊
This is so wonderful and shows that as long as we reach out and speak our truths, great things will follow our paths as we learn to be honest to others and ourselves and always be open to hardship and lending a hand to those struggling to understand themselves, which in turn gives us greater understanding of ourselves as well and we can see our selves in the eyes of others and dream of amazing things. This world is great if we just allow it to be.
I love this animation, it’s just animated so well and it has this vibe idk
The drawings look like barely any development was put into it, and that’s just the cute charm of this heartwarming Pokemon fan animation :)
Pokemon?
