I love the strange absurdity with the whole concert hall disappearing. Both of them immediately agreeing that “it couldn’t have gone far”, printing “lost concert hall” posters, and then when it’s inexplicably out in the ocean, everyone is there like nothing even happened. And then the whole trip over the ocean to get there.
Right?? It's just fun to watch. You let down your guard and say "okay, this is happening" and it doesn't break the plot or make you ask too many questions. I just enjoyed every second. This is in my top 5 Gobelin shorts of all time because of the way it makes me feel
Thank you so much! We had lots of different versions of the story, but the absurdity has always been there. I'm glad to hear that people were able to let go of all logic but still follow and appreciate the story and the friendship.
@@theocarme ohh! I wish I could make a short like this; but my writing teacher keeps telling me it should have some sense or make things be explainable... This absurdity took as something normal would be so cool to use...
This feels like a dream that's super fun and happy
And the fact that after the concert hall disappears, she is more worried that she cannot preform her concert than an entire building disappearing before her eyes lolololol
I love how silly and vibrant this one was. The colors remind me of a cutscene you would see in a charming little indie game, I love it! I also like how she doesn't sing for the audience but they fully encourage her to do what she wants.

Now that you mention it, this reminds me a lot of the indie game Celeste. This would be a cute premise for an indie game.
The audience is awesome they unquestionably support the person they came to see even though she won’t preform.

Actually, I expected them to ask what she likes singing, and sing along with her (and that green-clothed pest would bite off her papers in anger). But it was nice to see her running away
I love Mehdi so much, his shrimp(?) costume, his tube socks and flip flops, his goofy attitude, we all need a Mehdi in our life.
This animation is so goofy, giving up your career to sing about dogs, I love it.
Beautifully done, I love the dynamic between Erika and Mehdi, really fun, feels like they're really friends, especially how Mehdi persists on hearing the song.
And as of course, it looks wonderful as well. Sometimes these short films are really deep, but this fresh little goofy one is so fun, I love it!!!

but much like 99% of other Gobelins final projects this is as far as it will ever go because the industry wants minimum wage animation sweatshop workers and squashes down any kind of out-of-line creativity, preventing them from ever getting the greenlight

Maybe I’m looking too deep into it, but I LOVE how the music hall reappears when she finds her joy & love for singing again 🥹 & the fact it immediately disappeared when she lost her notebook, or the one thing that contained all her true love for music/singing. This is a really sweet message for all artists who sometimes lose their love or fulfillment in their passions. Creating & expressing yourself for YOU, & finding people who love your true authenticity! 💖 All love & applause to everyone in this project 🥰

I loved this one so much. Mehdi is just so positive and optimistic and ridiculous. And his freestyle during the credits was actually so good! He and Erika are such a great duo. I couldn't help but smile!

4:31 Mehdi dancing with the bipedal dog after they found the concert hall makes me so happy I can't stop replaying it and smiling. Can't forget about all the dogs becoming bipedal and bowing with him at 4:12 either. He just makes me so happy. I love love love how illogical and absurd all of this is. Everything is treated like a casual everday occurrence. Adventure is always. The almost childlike wonder. It feels like Ghibli 💕
Congratulations to the brilliant team of young artists! This short film is an absolute blast with its beat, rhythm, and a kaleidoscope of colors that dance throughout the story. This made me think of how even when you want to make a living out of your passion, you still care about money oriented goals (career, social fame, peers expectations..) but actually the only authentic art that you can produce is supposed to be genuine, not self-serving. I'm glad that Erika chooses to leave the concert room in the end.

Every year, I get hyped for these shorts. I love all of them. And this? This might be my favorite this round. It was so, so, so charming that it just made me all warm and fuzzy.

It’s giving if steven universe and puppycat had a baby in Rhythm Heaven ~ I am absolutely obsessed!! The art style is so aesthetically pleasing and the music is catchy

Oh wow.. I think I've just found my favorite animation from gobelins students this year! I think I missed this type of storytelling a lot - the plot was straightforward but the meaning of chasing your dreams and not giving them up for something you don't want struck deep within me. The animation, the MUSIC and the songs... I just loved it all so much! Congratulations to the team who worked on this lovely piece, I wish them luck in their future endeavors!
Aww this was so cute, I loved it! I love how the story is super illogical and dreamlike, it's more of a loose thread of themes, vibes, and fun moments with cute style and amazing animation.
The camera moving at 1:51 following Erika's face was a really nice touch to give tridimensionality in a extremely 2D animation short 😄!
Beside this, I really love this short, its story, and the final message: it feels like an homage to early 2000's anime for little girls (mainly Magical DoReMi) and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo with a refreshing take on lightnings, shadows, shapes and, obviously, colors - all so vibrant, warm and very summer-like 🏖.

Entre Mario Sunshine et les slices of life épisode spécial summer, on peut vraiment apprécier ces scènes pleines de chaleur et d’enthousiasme. this, this is special. the art flows and attracts the eyes like nothing I've seen at least in a long time, the freeing vibe of it all and the sweetest characters! i hope this continues to grow in views
This is ridiculously well done like I’m in awe. I would watch an entire series in this style so fast. Literally from the first scene I was immediately hooked. I looooooove how it’s so clearly inspired by early 2000’s anime and cartoons, it really hits that perfect nostalgic spot. Reminds me of being obsessed with shows like winx club and totally spies and princess jellyfish as a kid, but also reminds me of more modern shows and animes like miraculous and penguin highway and eve music videos. Just beyond excellent and now I’m depressed that it’s only 8 minutes long.

I’ve been in a depressive slump lately but watching this made me sooo happy you have no idea I loved everything about this video from the animation to the characters to the storyline and especially the music it resonated with everything I like. You did an amazing job with this project 🐚🦞!
I could literally keep on ranting I love that it’s set on the beach I love the the carefreeness of the story I love just the nostalgic happy feeling it gives you and the animation really ties it all together the sparkling eyes the funny faces I love all the details

2 months ago, I lost my most precious light of life, my little doggie Mimi of 14 yrs. I sing "Mon Petite Chien" whenever I miss her. Congrats to the team who created the short and much love to the musician for the wonderful song.
A detail I liked is how the journey to the concert hall was long and filled with obstacles but after Erika tells her audience where her heart lies and they support her, the path back is so shallow that the water is practically just a puddle they can walk on. It's a nice allegory of how following her dream cleared her inner turmoil and made life easier for her.
This is probably one of the best animated projects I’ve seen in god knows how long, the style and music is so nostalgic of a childhood show that I never watched aha. what I would give to see them explore this wonderful little world in a series
i have so much to say about this! the color palette here is so refreshing to look at. the style is so unique and silly, and the characters are so well made here! i enjoyed this a lot and i wished there’d be a whole series about this!!!!! kudos to the team who made this!!

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH I'm screaming, this is so cute and i adore the dog song. Omg omg omg. As an art student this is so inspiring to me, not only because the animation is gorgeous but also because Erika finding her love for singing and making her own decisions at the end of the story is such a personal matter that a lot of people are able to resonate with. Not to mention that i love the French language and that the voice actors have lovely voices. This is beautiful.

I love this. It’s like the graduates worked hard to become great artists, but they were always held back because they created and worked on assignments college required them to.. But now they have the skills, the power and influence to create whatever they want,, just the main character!!! I wish them well!

absolutely amazing!!! my favourite work from this channel ever! loved the ocean theme, the music, the colours, the style was fantastic!! such a fresh and good blend of all kinds of illustrated cartoon/manga/animation styles!! loved the humour in the art, the plot, the characters, the music sequences! i loved this so much, by the end of it i was smiling wide :) such a perfect ending, i've grown to love these characters in just 7 minutes, which usually never happens to me in other films from gobelins!! amazing work! life can be great if you're true to yourself and friendship is the key!!! fantastic

i can't even put into words how much I love this. Oh my god. This is going to sound so dramatic but it's true, I have been looking and yearning for my eyes to lay sight onto something like this. I have so many feelings and thoughts in my heart and brain and a specific one that has yet to be brought to life by anyone. But this video satisfied that yearning. It had the same look and feel as to what I have been envisioning in my head for so long. I just wish there could be more of this like a show that I can hyper fixate over for longer and just wrap my entire being into.
It has been a long while since an animation has moved me this much! I loved it so much, the animation is just fantastic, the music wraps around you like a warm hug. I am not lying when I say last time I enjoyed a short film this much was 2018.
I love animation, I'm constantly watching new shorts and student films, but for whatever reason, this won my heart. And I thank you for that.
This was such a cute and charming movie, I absolutely adored it! The first time I saw it when it was introduced by Catsuka I was captured but how charming the art style was and knew I would love it. Now having actually watched it, it exceeded my expectations! Such a lovely movie..so vibrant and full of love! The art, animation, colors, character designs, world, story, voice acting, and songs, I can’t stress enough how well it was done! I loved this so much!! Ahh gosh the art style was really soso cute and charming, it just gives so much vibes

It particularly reminds me of playing Pokémon as a kid and anything feels possible, the world is boundless! I love Erika and the shrimp man, they will hold a special place in my heart.
