This is what it felt like when I was a kid watching cartoons but was too young to actually comprehend what I was seeing.
Wait this makes so much sense!!! I couldn't have described it better
This is so true, I couldn't describe the feeling until now!
@@evasmith3896 Reminds me of some characters like KATZ from Courage the Cowardly dog and HIM from Powerpuff girls. They almost felt "disturbing" as in a way you just described.

"you can never kill us in a way that matters" is such a clever and subtle reference to that old tumblr shitpost about mushrooms and it fits so well as a critique of the american justice system. i have a deep affinity for all these videos
I kinda like how bad kids stuff is slowly becoming a series of its own
Same! I hope to see more of it in future animations as well.
I hope so! It's my favorite!

You’re a genius vewn

you both are
I just love Vewns visuals so much they are dreamy but give a unique vibe
I agree greatly
totally agree. her artstyle feels like home because of how simple but beautiful it is. its like a sketch i made as a kid.
Exactly
wonderfully well done
They're what my nightmares look like.
I think there’s definitely something about the game show-ification of the court in this being a critique of the legal system
i was looking for like a whole minute trying to find someone who thought this lol
8 months passed. That means we're up for another banger.
Yes now
The visual style really sells the feeling of a weird and confusing world where stuff sucks and no one's trying to hide it. Brutality and incompetence exist to a comical extent and people just kinda live with it.
Its basically US lite
So basically real life.
@@realglutenfree i mean brutality and incompetence is kind of every where, just the usa is the scapegoat. Any 3rd or 2nd world country has brutality and violence all over but nobody can stop it so they just deal with it
@@miau5878
True. But the sad part is that the US is supposed to be a first world country. I just red a statistic yesterday: 1 out of 8 people or something who are on death row get out because it turned out they are innocent. How many are innocent but get killed because they don't have evidence, that's the question. It's just an unfair system and death sentences do nothing to stop crime.
@@miau5878 yeah but they're not claiming to be the land of the free. scape goat my ass
Great job representing the impossible situations that the judicial system puts people in. You can be punished for doing nothing, then punished for just trying to survive. It's a never ending cycle for a lot of people.
Crazy how that's what you notice but not how everyone in being watched and controlled by closed sourse OS, programs and ISPs.

@@Yixdy Well worded.
In the original they imply that they've never seen eachothers faces before but I like the new direction this story is going and it fits pretty well.

This is amazing. I love how space gets distorted, the shapes and the proportions, this is what animation should be.
so true!!! a lot of animations try to be as realistic as possible which is very cool in its own way but i think styles like this should be explored more. animation is such an incredible medium because the rules can be bent so much and i wish that more animators would take advantage of it
I never knew these type of styles are valid, I guess I'm not deep into the animation pit yet.
The art style is pretty much the reason I subscribed. A bit rustic but still incredibly stylish.

B¡tch you saw the first part? She's awful 😂
i like the parts where the kid is on their phone, cause honestly looking at the modern shit people look at on their phones (me included) it really feels accurate
Thats how i see the phone on acid
yea childrens youtube, tik-tok, and lots of meme videos are just shortening the time span so that people will watch more to not get bored.
Family guy clips + subway surfers gameplay + random satisfying clip
The absolute sensory overload you get whenever you see a screen in this animation is amazing.
I love how your videos never fails to gives the watcher a overwhelming feeling of isolation in the worlds you create and how the system was created against the protagonist.
i know vewn's animation theme is always chaotic but somehow it makes me feel very nostalgic and comforts me
I love the instant utter chaos of noises and pop-ups whenever the character opens their phone or computer.
Life is overwhelming so I used internet as escapism but now both worlds are equally frustrating and depressing.
yeah
The phone's noise is so funny to me, especially the monkey icon, it's so annoying and adorable XDDD

Wow. You're so good at portraying this sort of dystopian melancholic world. I'm happy for you
This is probably the most coherent thing I've watched on this channel so far without having to know a bunch of niche references and blatantly subtle depictions of our current dystopia. Either way I still watch these a few times over to really absorb the message. Hopefully my interpretations are close enough to the original message, and if unique, then those ideas can inspire me to create and contribute to my community more.
The visual at 4:57 stuck out to me; the main character, who’s clearly a child/teenager, absolutely tiny on the table that’s meant to restrain an adult. A _child_ being tried and put to death as an adult would be. The visual looked to be blatantly calling out the justice system & I thought it deserved a special mention.
Well she did commit murder.
Not to mention it's a crucifix
I didn’t realize that it was in the shape of a cross. That’s insane
which modern justice system are you referring to that ie being called out by this, or that literally put children, let alone adults, to death
@@Tracequaza I’m talking about the U.S. because that’s where I’m from. While minors can’t be charged with the death penalty, per the ruling of the Roper v. Simmons, minors in America _can_ still be tried as adults (the nuances of which are particular to each state). I interpreted the scene as not _specifically_ criticizing the death penalty, but rather the myriad of ways in which a child can still have their entire life ruined by the legal system. These would include issues of a broader scope- CPS, custody battles, juvie, criminal records, tried as adults, etc. Just calling the legal system what it is; broken.
I really hope you're celebrated as one of the important animators of our time because these shorts are just so dead-on accurate with how it feels to be a young person in our current place in history. Thanks Vewn.
As strange as it is it’s also more relatable than anything I’ve seen from any other artist on any other medium.
me when the young people shoot someone and go to jail death penalty from a wheel of punishments and escape the corrupt government with someone they helped escape prison
Idk bout all that
What😭
Lol ok
I love how you portrayed the things the kid is watching on the phone and generally
the whole world in the story... it feels a bit too familiar. Great work
I love it. The animation and perspective is so surreal. It feels like a story of future society where humans have lost control and AI guides the world we live in. Nobody knows what’s real, there is a digital overstimulation, people have lost their potential of critical thinking and so even the law and court seems so dumb but people are still people, just trying to stay alive. The plot is also interesting, reminds me of the movie minority report.
Now I need full version of pitched 'sayonara bye bye' so bad

-You know you can never go back to your old life right?

I am always so happy to see your animations, they are so different from anything else I watch. I felt reminded of Kafkas "The Trial" in the beginning & the ending was great as usual!
3:54 bro boutta enter an American school

Great joke dude that was realll edgy
I love how even in the script reality is boiled down to its basics and said just as it is. I love the simplicity of everything down to the art style, and the lore that's alluded to is not only interesting but world building, really cool
This feels like it's saying something about how the american justice system creates/worsens criminals. No idea if that was the intention, but that's what I personally got out of it
Also liked the detail of the statue with "all people are created equal" under it, with the word "people" on yellow paper taped to it, covering the original phrase "all men are created equal"
I thought the exact same thing and was checking the comments to see if anyone felt the same 😄 if that was in fact vewns intention it was executed marvelously
I am deeply in love with the ending song, it’s so funkyyyyy~~~~

I love the aesthetic this one gives off... it almost feels different to anything else vewn has posted for some reason, like it's even more dreamy and unique then usual... maybe it's just art style improvement, or maybe just more unique visuals but, I don't know, this just feels.. even cooler then anything else vewn has posted, I think this is my fav so far, you're so awesome vewn !!!!!!!
There's noticeable more internet culture visuals in this one. Its an instant fav for me too.
This video is like one of those dreams you have that are so good, and when you wake up you instantly forget like 90% of what the dream was about. I love the overall vibe of Vewns animations, and how there is a secret meaning in pretty much every episode.
I love the feeling, pace, commentary, and aesthetic of your art

vewn, vewn, vewn. girl, you outdid yourself with this one. it's amazing. everything. the voice overs, music selection, references... and i'm not talking about your animation. it's a trademark of yours at this point. perfecto, well done.
I absolutely love these characters and truly look forward to more of their adventures.
i need a full movie out of this or an actual series. but not on Netflix cuz they cancel good shows for big mouth 💀
I remember the first time I ever watched vewns videos and sending them to friends, starting with twins paradise, personally I like to watch the videos, over and over again and see all the different meaning that there could be, I specifically love the ones about bad kids, because it has strong meaning behind it that's not fully covered that you could relate to in the past, or see that happening now, it brings a certain peace to my inner child. The music choices to, I feel like are great, thank you for being one of my favorite CZcamsrs.
anybody notice the phone and screens she was looking at? maybe i’m thinking too deep, but they really remind me of what we see today, super overstimulating, multiple things at once and a dependence for help on it, hence the “self help wizard” and in the end, “i’m just a computer, what do you expect me to do?”
Not sure if you’ll ever read this, but thank you, vewn. Thank you for your art and animations.
I've been feeling down about my living situation, lack of a job, and general state of the world for the past several weeks, and the places I'd normally turn to for happy escapism weren't working as well as they used to.
Watching your videos has reminded me that it's okay to admit that the world sucks. Because sometimes, it is just comically unfair. Thank you for reminding me that I don’t have to act numb to it all the time. Lowkey I think these videos have helped me with trauma I didn’t even know I had.
So yeah. Thanks.
Right when I heard the hats at 1:47 I knew it was Death Grips. Fuckin love that song! Very much a hidden gem among the hits from Exmilitary. People do probably talk about it, but when it comes to that album, most people mention Guillotine, Beware, & Takyon first from what I’ve heard.

This kinda stuff happened to many people. Being put into situations which are not their fault, forced to shoulder the blame because you are the lowest in the food chain
identity seems to be a very important/reoccurring theme in the world of bad kids. not only was it foreshadowed in the very first seconds of the video but it seems to be something super enforced given the punishment (albeit it was chosen at random) was death.
something also i noticed were the guards all wear white masks, it could be for the sake of safety but also sorta dehumanize the government in a way, sorta saying how the government could be anyone or anything. again, identity being present.
even after the situation with escaping death row, roxy could never return to her old life, exactly how jazzy had said. basically the government is like held together by two pieces of string (not very different than the us government)
I'm gonna need a whole season of Bad kid stuff now
Absolutely love Vewn's animations, I'd buy a whole DVD box set if there was one.
Your art style is such a big inspiration i love how vibrant everything is
I love the art style. It reminds me of "A Cat in Paris."
People talk way to less about how good the perspectives are. Example when she was in court. Literall perfection of capturing a moment...
sayonara bye bye from yu yu hakusho is one of the best endings ever...especially the dub version you used 🙏
OMG I love yu yu hakusho this is my favoriye anime!

i love your content in every way possible and especially the sound. this unnatural silence contrasting with overwhelming noize is something i find weird comfort in. it reminds me of museums of modern art where some artworks contain noize and some do not so you switch between silence and music/voises you dont fully understand as you explore the exhibition. i also love the tracks that you choose. i keep most of "twins in paradise" osts in my liked songs and am planning to find music from this cartoon too thank you so much, your work gives me an opportunity to feel sadness in the way i want to feel it. knowing that im supposed to be more simple and not exegerrate my negative feelings so i dont fall into them too much and keep fitting in the life i somehow chose...its making me feel empty and useless. but knowing that there is the whole another reality (even tho its cartoons) i resonate with and I'm allowed to feel sad in makes me happier.
please never stop making content. these are surreal to me and take my brain to a different thinking space. somewhat therapeutic.
