It's so funny how the Double King insists on committing some violence when he takes a crown, even if it's completely unnecessary. Like smacking the beached fish-king with his scepter or punching the unmoving mountain-king with his fortress-mech.
A key part of the story that really sticks out to me: He murders a bug for it’s crown, fits it on his finger and later chopped his own finger off thinking it’s another creature with a crown. Blinded by greed, he killed himself because of it.

They're all like "Oh ffs, does it even matter if he learns a lesson at this point? Just give him the thing so he shuts up and we can enjoy our eternal dinner party in peace."
Austin Dial They are meant to represent what he would be like without his crown, just another cave dweller like the rest of us, also they serve to add to his paranoia by there always being something watching him waiting to take his crown. He threw himself into the void cause he didn’t care about the afterlife or making amends with the other kings he wronged he only cared about the crown and he had it so why stay in a place where someone might take it. It will be just him and his crown now.

I remember the first time I watched this I had a fever and fully thought I hallucinated this. I am so happy I found this a year later. It is just as unnerving and surreal and awesome as I remember.
The royal religious precession tune gave me crazy goose bumps. Such incredible sound design and music you’ve produced for this. Every single aspect of this piece is an awe inspiring masterpiece.. truly beautiful to behold.
i'm genuinely convinced at least half the dislikes are people bitter & jealous over the massive success of these animations smooth animation, lovely art style, wonderful key poses, very expressive. Overtly comical with a solid moral lesson, done with no words; it needs no translation. The two years of work it took are on full display every frame, it is a masterpiece. I love that the pumpkin is the only one whose form on the king's hall is uninjured. The rat, snake, and fly all still have their injuries and the fish is constantly gasping
In the dead king's hall (roughly at 7:45), the pumpkin king isn't smashed, but the other kings aren't regenerated. The rat king's skull hasn't been replaced and his eyes are still loose, the snake king's still got the sword holes in his head, and like tophat said, the fish king is having trouble breathing. and the fly is still decapitated.
@thesusbus the pumpkin was smashed, but he's back in one piece. No one else gets that luxury, they all have to deal with the injuries the double king inflicted on them.
@thesusbus the only king in the underworld that hasnt kept their injuries. The pumpkin king died cause he got smahed but in the underworld hes fine but like the fly queen had their head cut off but in the underworld they still have their head cut off
I believe this animation symbolizes the greed of humans and how we want everything for ourselves but we end up destroying nature in the process and in the end we are left with nothing (most of the time)
I love how with the crown at 6:04 he throws it away to then pay attention to the cockatoo whose feathers look more like what he is used to. He didn't realize how something unfamiliar could be valuable.

I like how our main character doesn’t even act like a king in any way. He just locks himself in a tower away from everyone and anything. The only thing he does really is steal crowns as if he associates being a king with being happy and as it doesn’t really work out that way; he delves further into insanity and desperation.

I feel like there needs to be a sequel to this, where the Double King finally gets taught a lesson. I believe this animation symbolizes the greed of humans and how we want everything for ourselves but we end up destroying nature in the process and in the end we are left with nothing (most of the time)

I love how with the crown at 6:04 he throws it away to then pay attention to the cockatoo whose feathers look more like what he is used to. He didn't realize how something unfamiliar could be valuable.

It's probably just because he was unfamiliar with it and/or because he didn't know how to stack it on his head
I think it’s because there wasn’t any challenge, he just picked it up without a fight and was kinda like “oh…that’s it?”
The fact that it could’ve easily taken all the crowns without committing homicide really says something about the character
its that type of person in a video game that is just "i could ask you for that item without killing you but that would be too much work with the chance of you denying it but if i kill you i get it instantly"

I like how our main character doesn’t even act like a king in any way. He just locks himself in a tower away from everyone and anything. The only thing he does really is steal crowns as if he associates being a king with being happy and as it doesn’t really work out that way; he delves further into insanity and desperation.

I feel like there needs to be a sequel to this, where the Double King finally gets taught a lesson. Seeing him finally get what he wanted after throwing a big temper tantrum in the end was a bit infuriating. Seriously yo, please make a sequel to this whenever you have the time. I think I speak for everyone when I say we wanna see the double king face a punishment so intense, that he'll wish he wasn't such a douche. Like this comment if you agree.
