AI prime hd for a mixed reef pretty please
Bulk Reef Supply thanks for all your hard work and info! It makes reefing a little less scary with all your facts youre researching for us commoners! Could you please do a par test for the illumagic blaze?
Kessil a160we?
Not all of us can afford those fancy lights but also want to start a reef tank. Lets be honest $500 with tax for a small square light with wifi function, come on not everyone has $500 laying around. In a way i feel companies dont even bother to focus on budget friendly reefers who have bills up the arse and assume everyone has the money for some of these half a rent bill single light fixture.
You aren't 2
You guys have taught me so much about the hobby. I’m sure many other people can say the same. Keep doing what you guys do and making this hobby better with every video!
Would be interesting to see if angling lights or accent lights such as the reefbrites has a major improvement on shading over mounting lights perfectly horizontally
Would love to see a BRS light. I would bet the research done by BRS on some of these lights is more involved than what the manufacturer completed.
I'm still running off of XR30 Gen 1 lights. I think I got them from BRS in 2012, still going strong!
Please do Red Sea REEFLED 90!
They did czcams.com/video/U3gImt5Zo5U/video.html
Your spacing and height above tank info is invaluable!
Please test a Maxspect Razor! Loving this.
The kessils are my favorite brand of lighting. Right now I have the hydra 64, but i really want some kessil a360s! I love the shimmer and I really like the plug and play style as well.
I got 4 a360x on my 4ft tank and i absolutely love them.
@@marcelrodriguez2067 oh I bet. You can't beat the shimmer of the kessil a360x. I have a 92 gallon corner bowfront. Because of the odd shape, i dont know how many to buy??
@@Dank166 depends on what kind of corals you trying to keep, for sps i go with 4 on 4 ft tank 9.6 inches apart from eachother and raise it to 8 inches above the water line for best results.
@@marcelrodriguez2067 at the moment I'm keeping soft corals, mushroom and polyps. I mainly want the kessils for pleasure to the eye and I can advance to more difficult corals in the future with them. I think two will be okay for now. It's such a odd shaped tank that it makes lighting kinda difficult.
I had the exact opposite experience from everything I've been taught with SPS in my frag tank regarding lighting. I had my radions turned way down because my acros were bleaching and dying. I rented a par meter and turns out I was getting less than 100 par at the frag rack. I cranked up the intensity to 250-300 par and my acros are finally starting to re-encrust and color up again.
Great video guys! I’d like to see you test the ATI Hybrid Powermodule.
Woooo! Super awesome video. Thanks guys learned a lot.
Those tests you will be doing on those tanks would I be able to use on the nuvo 40. I have the Kessil 360X. I love your guys videos.
Very informative video. U guys are the best. New to the saltwater life ✊🏽💯
Welcome aboard!
I know you guys aren't fans of the China black boxes but VIPARSPECTRA 165W with dual timers is pretty dope for the price. Could you test it?
Can you guys investigate the aquaticlife t5 hybrid setup with different LEDs and their par levels? I have now an aquaticlife t5 hybrid with 2 kessil A360Xs 8"s off the water of a 65 gallon tank. The tank is 3' long.
Espectacular vídeo, muchas gracias !!!
What’s the opinion on seneye reef par meter
What was your problem with the C-Rays? Their european counterpart (Aquamedic Angels) are for me still the best led fixture in the market.
Please do Illumagic Blaze X Mini for 24" cube. Mounting height, PAR spreadout, spectrum & intensity setting for coral growth.
I'll have one blaze X mini with 4 T5HO tubes for the new nano SPS tank.
I am going to set up a tank. It's a 3 ft tank. I would like to get it to a mixed tank. Starting with softys and moving up. Would you recommend 2 ai 16s or 2 red sea 90s. Looking at the red sea reefer 250 or the waterbox marine 70
please test the reef breeder photon v2
u guys are the best !
Take a shot everytime Ryan says "the right tool for the right job". I made it through 10 minutes 😂
Merci pour cette vidéo !!! 👍👍👍
Would love if you guy's would look into Reefbreeder's Photon V2+ lights.
EDIT: Saw you are currently testing these, thanks and great video as always!
I see you have a Hydra 32 HD on that table ;) will you test that too?
I know you did the 64, but I got the 32 and there is like no PAR meter renting service here in Europe (afaik)!
TIA :)
I always have a different understand of "divide evenly". I divide the tank space evenly, then put the light on the center of each section. Like 2 light on 4' tank, each section will be 2', the two light would be 1' from each side.
If you dive, scuba dive that disco ball effect is exactly what you see. With the colors etc. shallow reefs with good wave movement is also exactly what you see at the top.
Hardly think that has any negative effects in corals. Might actually be more natural and beneficial.
Are you a marine biologist?
Scuba diver for 40+ years, hundreds of years, Biology degree and advanced degree professional. So yes, a lot of actual experience with observational skills and science background .
$70 for a 7 day par meter is great, if its logistically available. I live in a northern part of Canada and there is no such thing available anywhere near me.
I bought a Maxspect RSX 200 for a new Reefer 350 build. I'm doubtful that the included legs will serve me well long term so I'd love to set it right the first time. I would love to see your test results on this fixture if you get around to it! :)
Get a par metter but for my old maxspect its was at 17" that i have a good spread this Lightning is lazer in a 6" diameter. Need a PAR metter to set it right.
ok ya I'm a softy guy... and i DO have $2000 in lighting, but I only payed $300 for them. Facebook marketplace is no joke man
I really wish you guys would put the par meter for rent back on your website, I keep seeing videos about it and I just bought a new light and would really like to make sure the par is correct
Gonis looks very cool when they are reaching for light and after watching this I realized why mine dont have that look! I also want to ask if its ok to keep white at 1 both warm and cool white and blues uv at 50? I have a 20 long frag tank and two 95 watt lights so I need to turn way down! Which is the color that gives the most par whites or blues? I also have some 20 watts I could use though and have 3 of them but I have to modify the rim and they are fluval sea nanos but heavy on whites. Which would be better do you think for such a wide and shallow and narrow tank? Lps and softies like zoas and 1/4 is shrooms, plus the rack sits at about 9 inches deep only! so very very shallow!
Does BRS sterilize the par meter sensors, cords, and wands in between rentals to prevent transferring ich, velvet, bubble algae, aptasia, etc.?
Love the BRS videos!
They are indeed cleaned and dried when received.
I have a 30" tall tank. Can you test to 30"
Thank you for these videos. Where should I look to rent a par meter in my area? Fish store?
Fish stores and reefing clubs would be a good place to check. Otherwise, if you can't find a rental locally, we do rent them as well.

What light and wave makers would you use for a 75 gallon tank? I thought about a current loop ?? I love soft coral
We're a big fan of the Vortech and Maxspect Gyre pumps. For a soft coral tank, you don't need a ton of flow. Two powerheads in a 75 should be sufficient for most softie setups.
Great tinfo and intel! Targeted commercial advertisement was 120%
so how do we fix the disco ball? i have it with an AI prime sol 10 inches off the 10g tank. thanks in advance! love the channel!
You can try an aftermarket diffuser, but certain light fixtures are going to have more of a discoball effect than others.
have a 40 breeder with 2 ai primes would you suggest adding another prime or go hybrid t5 i want to grow sps
Either option would work, so there is an element of personal preference here too. I personally like the T5 route as it provides the best coverage, even if the T5 hybrid fixtures don't look as sleek as pendant style LEDs.
I love you BRS
Test the GHL mitras 7206
please!
please test the old ai primes hds too
Hi, is it possible that you may test the ATI Straton?
We haven't gotten our hands on that fixture quite yet, but anything is possible :)
Radion XR15 Gen 4??
You mentioned the disco ball affect if I think I have this problem how do I fix it?
Using a diffuser of some sort is really the only way. Some LED manufacturers have their own ready made diffuser kits, while others may necessitate more of a DIY solution.
Hi i have a question i have recently removed all my rock in my 7 months old reef tank and replaced it with caribsea life rock, i read some horror stories online about cycle starts all over and ammonia spyke etc is this true? And what can i do to prevent this from happening?
I really don't want my fish ore corals to die im really worried now
Replacing all rock at once can have negative impacts as most of the good bacteria that processes ammonia lives on the surfaces of rock. Best practice would be to pre-cycle the rock before adding it to the tank if you're replacing it all at once. You'll also want to consider adding a bacterial booster like MicroBacter7 or Dr. Tim's one and only to help ensure that you don't have an ammonia issue.
Can you guys do a video on the new ai sols ?
I'll add it to the ideas board. We've got a lot of light testing planned for the next few months :)
viparspectrum or ocean revive t247 just as good as almost any of this LED!!!
Cheers man i run the 300w vipar model 🍻 and yep it grows corals very well
@bulkreefsupply can you test the Maxspect Razor X R5 300 watt
That one will be coming in the next few months !
could please do a video on maxspect jump leds, height spread etc please
That's not a fixture that we currently stock, but I'll never say never :)
@@BRStv Thank you for your reply and hopefully you guys do a review on the light soon
guys please help me i have a mixed reef i have a 300 watt VIPARSPECTRA ''on my 55 gallon tank long my blues 70% AND WHITES ON 3% ,,,, PLEASE LMK WHAT TO SETT IT AT
Hard to give you exact setting recommendations because we haven't used that light over that tank size. That said, this video might help point you in the right direction. Ultimately, you may find it worth while to use a par meter to properly set them up.
czcams.com/video/UVLNCispGrM/video.html
If your gona spend $70 on a rental par meter, would it not make more sense to buy a seneye and have it for life. Are seneys accurat and worth it. U also get ph and temp monitor so seems like a good option.
Definitely an option. Only downside is that you have to have a computer or laptop nearby to get the readings, whereas the Apogee meters have a built-in display.
@@BRStv Oh. So for constant ph monitoring you would need it to be plugged in all the time 🤔. Not good.
For future they could make a small controller that store data for a few days or something. Otherwise for most would be too dificult to get a good range of tanks ph over a week period with having to plug it in to a pc.
I think maybe listing the optimal height for each light on the website would be cool???
Definitely on the priority list for our team in the future!
@@BRStv You guys ROCK!!!
@@BRStv G4 with and without Diffuser please!!
Hydra 32! Please! Before covid takes out our tanks!
Brent is fervently testing away on these, as we speak! Right now it's scheduled to come out next Friday. :)
Bulk Reef Supply awesome! Thanks! And Brent, no coffee breaks or lunch breaks for you!! 😂
Please do research on Fluval Sea Nano 3.0!
It's not a light fixture that we currently carry, but if we do, we'll be sure to cover it. With our limited time and resources, our number 1 goal is helping customers be successful with the products we offer.
Thanks for the video and the resource list. Some constructive feedback, may I? If you are going to spend 30 minutes essentially advertising the rental of your PAR meter (fantastic luxury that I'm thankful for, by the way), at least have some in stock to rent out! I bet you have a flurry right now! LOL. 'notify me' when in stock please.🐠
Keeping these in rotation has definitely been a challenge. We just added 20+ more units to the rental program this last week and already they go quick. As of this morning, there are some MQ-510s in stock for rental! :)
Test viparspectra a good majority are having great success with these lights including me and they are 700$ cheaper and have a wider spread 🍻
I didn’t like those lights it always melted my corals no matter what setting it was at I even had it 24 inches above my tank and that did not help
Can you do a review on the Spectra Sphere for a 48x24x24 sps tank
Hey guys
I am new gay. I buy a nano marine aquarium setup..it's only 4 gallon water tank.. right now I am not going to live coral set-up.can you told me how many marine fish I can put there.
With a small 4 gallon tank, it's best to stay away from fish. You might actually be better off focusing on coral instead as most coral types don't need a whole lot of room and you can frag them when needed.
Would love to see the Photon V2 tested.
Did anyone else notice the mistake in the video???? He said #6 and the #7 slide popped up lol video editor was tired 💤
Whoops, nice catch there!
👋
👋
I have been using AI, I'm definitely sticking with them
The seneye actually tells you the PUR and the PAR
How accurate is it? Idk but definitely better than nothing
We actually found that the par meter feature on the Seneye isn't too far off. Definitely close enough for our purposes in reefing. Check out this investigates video we did a while back where we put the Seneye up against a couple other more popular par meters.
czcams.com/video/6hUkufXBb3I/video.html
Ok, so you’re saying for people to rent the Par meter from you? (Sarcasm) Did you guys actually watch this video and see how bad you beat that drum?
And BRS has went up on the price for the par meters.. which is crazy in my opinion, due to the fact, they're just renting out a par meter.
@@bryant026 i just checked and the prices seem the same as they have been.
@@Falteredsoul when BRS initially started renting out part meters, the smaller version (MQ-210) was $40. The smaller version is $60 now.
@Kenneth Bryant It's true. We believe it its a valuable tool that will help people.
@@bryant026 After free shipping both ways, credit card fees, recalibrating and other costs it is close to a break even endeavor. I assure you if this was super profitable everyone would do it :)
$70 it's only $70 hey guys $70 just pay the 70
