The great irony of Ron actually being a highly effective government employee precisely because he hates government.
i think that's the joke.
there is a ron Swanson in all of us. but he wasnt hired by the government.
we live vicariously through him. Genius writting.
That's usually the case. The founding fathers hated government and weren't career politicians. They set up an amazing govermental system so they could get home to their harvest. Amazing men.
It's not a joke, it's a reality.
That harvest may have been gathered by some involuntary laborer's...@@BaldwinVoice
Ron was willing to cut EVERYTHING from the budget except the one person doing government right.
Leslie has the best output per unit of pay. Everyone else is horribly lazy and inefficient. You don't fire your best worker.
She has only the second highest rate of pay, so less than 50% of the salary expense, and does 95% of the work. She's literally twice as efficient as the rest of government.
@@obliviouz let say her pay is 50% of the department salary, and she does 95%. Per pay that’s 95/5 = 19 times as efficient as the rest of the department.
His idea of government is one man sitting at a desk deciding who to nuke. Leslie is that man.
@@fanzhang5568 her pay is less than 50% because Ron is there and he’s her boss
Leslie: is throwing a concert that’s not allowed
Chris: MASSAGE MY SHOULDERS
Leslie throwing a concert that’s not allowed by government spending is less important than Chris’s shoulders not being massaged.
I love that Ron was gonna massage Chris but got interrupted
Probably the funniest part of this scene tbh
Below his political beliefs is his sense of loyalty which is much deeper and more important than any policy choice.
It has nothing to do with loyalty. The only reason he has the beliefs he does is because he sees the gouvernement as a useless waste of money. Leslie is the opposite of that with the way she works and manages to actually get things done.
@@AmaraARW Loyalty is definitely a factor.
Loyalty should never be more important that political beliefs. That's how corruption and despotism happens. The only fair reason to keep Leslie would be that she is hyper-productive. But being hyper-productive in the state is contra-productive unless she is working on security or justice. So no, Ron not wanting to fire Leslie is a weakness
@@curseanalyst So, if you have a friend or family member and find out they have different political beliefs write them out of your life? Because loyalty isn't as important as political beliefs right?
@@MisterJinKC Friends and Family are another matter since they are most likely not holding office. Governance is different. I think LL here isn't advocating for DISloyalty per se but sees that outweighing loyalty over policy is what breeds factionalism and partisanship instead of policy based governance. It's what is keeping the Republicans who are afraid of getting primaried from opposing the Trump Train.
And even if friends or family is running office I think you can separate political life from private life. You may be friends with the mayor but loyalty to your friend should not be the determining factor for you voting for him or him serving your interest.
SOMEONE MASSAGE CHRIS' SHOULDERS OMG
NOW, DAMNIT!
Chris said he would be the caboose. He's a damn liar and deserves no massage.
Stop screaming. I am going to go it. Jeez.
@@sumitsarkar3148 why thank you good sir 😌
I would gladly massage Chris if he returned the favor!
He discarded his beliefs throughout the show for Leslie and gang. That's how much he cared for them
Nah, he knew if Leslie was gone he might actually have to do something
@@henrg no, I think it was because he knew how much her job meant to Leslie he knew that she truly wanted to help people and he wasn't going to stop her, even indirectly, from doing that.
@@erniethewalrus9276 if Leslie actually wanted to help people then she'd do it some other way like with a private charity. Government is terrible at helping people.
@@henrg it’s also the fact that Leslie is the only government employee that actually does what she’s hired to do. Which is what government doesn’t do they just sell you what they claim they will do but won’t actually do a damn thing other than have press conferences that cost more money than spending to fix things.
@@harrylongabaugh7402 well she, clearly, believes otherwise.
I love that Ron generally was about to massage Chris
Generally, you would use genuinely in this context, but I like your spunk.

Ben wanted to fire Leslie , then talked to her for a while and decided to marry her. Ron saved Ben's life in this clip. The triplets should be thanking Ron for their existence
Funny how life can work sometimes. One random action can lead to an entire family being made.
People wrote this…
That gunshot ringtone and the lady jumping is easily one of the best scenes on this show
Lol Ben wanted to fire Leslie at first and then he ended up marrying and having children with her.
That's how all great relationships start.
Enemies to lovers is an often used trope in fiction. Usually to great effect.
@@KEVMAN7987 I agree but it’s best when for one, one of them is so toxic you’re thinking wtf why? Looking at you Dramione shippers
He should've fired her. She was the worst character on the show.
@@harrylongabaugh7402 only in the first season. Why do you not like her?
Chris says he isn't calling for a massage train in order to get a massage but then asks for it moments later 🤣
chris: "I'll be the caboose" Chris 30 seconds later "Can someone massage my shoulders"
I wish my city hall would get turned into a tjmax
Lmao
I wish my jcpenny got turned into a city call
It would definitely be more beneficial to the your community.
1:57 this really shows how much respect and faith Ron has for Leslie.
“Just saying that gave me a semi”
Ron and Chris are my favorites in the entire show seeing them interact was always golden, especially this scene lol, however every character in this show is great
Mark Brandanowits exists just thought i'd remind you
@@gamingary don’t worry I didn’t forget about him, tbh he wasn’t that bad of a character it’s just compared to everyone else his character was forgettable and not used
I love how Ron's shotgun ringtone even startles the cameraman.
SLASH IT SLASH IT SLASH IT
I'm surprised the cameraman didn't get knocked over when Ron got a semi
If he was close enough, he woulda been knocked out
I'm not from the states, what is a "semi"? en semiautomatic weapon?
@@muebleoalgo I'm not from the states either, when Ron said he got a semi he meant he was slightly erect
@@marcusdevonish5097 Oh, so that's a semi...
@@muebleoalgo semi has many different meaning one was already and there are two others I can think of semi: as in a large truck used for cargo and shipments
Semi: a semiautomatic weapon that shoots one round per trigger pull
I actually love the season when ben just shows up and he and leslie arent in love yet.... i loved seeing them heckle each other and seeing leslies stubbornness rise up against him. Total passion vs cynicism.
Slash it, slash it!!!
Leslie and Ron's friendship means everything to me
It was how the relationship between the left and the right supposed to be in America...
Ahh Leslie, the eternally idealistic, perpetually hopeful optimist.
I miss being hopeful and idealistic.
I love how even the 2 guys whose job it is to slash costs (even the more realist Ben) think that Ron is being too slash-happy.
Here is a man who tried to increase the percentage of budget cuts by 8% (which is a lot more than most would think) absolutely point blank refusing to fire an individual because of their value. If someone that dedicated and ruthless says “no” you should probably listen to them
Everything hurts and I’m dying
-Leslie Knope
“Gave me a semi” god damn Ron Swanson is the star of this show
Ben Almost fired his future wife
From trying fire her to ultimately fall in love . Damn Ben. He had the ultimate redemption arc. 😅
next scene: ron running to warn leslie about the russians. at this point the whole series is available in YT
0:37 "so sorry! new ringtone.." 💀💀💀
The federal government needs ron swanson’s help. They’re nearly 30 trillion in debt and about to push through another 6 trillion
Chris did EXACTLY what parents do with difficult children when they want to divert a tantrum, literally. I do distractions like this massage diversion all the time to make the naughty one slightly distracted at least so he doesnt do something naughty at a time i really need him to be good
Did Ben really think the best financial decision was to fire the person who did the most work? That sounds like a terrible idea...
Work is relative. If I take your money and do what I want with it, even for good reason, that money will disappear. Work maybe, but she likely has to budget and costs the department lots of money that was never theirs to begin with because government doesn't make money.
✊Slash it ✊Slash it ✊
Aw man I came here for Ron slipping running to tell them Ben and Chris were on their way (right behind him lol). That gets me everytime
Finding someone as loyal to your friendship as you are is the best. Nothing, not religion, politics, race, gender or anything else can break a bond of loyalty.
Love how everyone got scared and gasped after hearing the gunshot ringtone lmao
He hates the government, but his loyalty to his friends supersedes that
We need more Ron Swanson is a lifestyle 🥺
Does America have tj maxx

I LOVE this show.
Ron was LITERALLY about to massage Chris' shoulders
Which would have either made the most satifying cracking sound or would have left Chris partially paralysed.
Shotgun blast cellphone ring is awesome.
One of the few times we'll ever see Ron this giddy 😂
And can we talk about his ringtone? 💥
Slash it! Slash it!

For me what really sells this scene is Ron’s ringtone
The best 😂
"ron? focus up buddy" 😂😂😂😂
I will use his ringtone and scare people lol
Love me some Ron Swanson. 🤧
Need that ring tone.
Thank you for my after cleaning treat☺️
Honestly if I worked in the government I would 100% work like Ron Swanson
Why would they just jump to firing Leslie? Wouldn't it make more sense to talk about lowering her salary first? And if Ron earns more than her but doesn't do his job, wouldn't it have made more sense to just lower Ron's salary?
"Just sayin that gave me a semi" 😂
"just give me a sec"
Bring the Slasher from Hot Fuzz. He loves to slash...prices
1:47 task failed successfully
❤❤😍Ron
Epic
'Because of my libertarian beliefs Leslie does 95% of the work.' 🤣 🤣
He looks like Julian from trailer park boys here.
Why Chris is above run in any capacity baffles me
Dude I want Chris to do that with me!
sell the zoo animals lol!!!
0:37 Why did it look like he was trying to blast off
Is there anywhere I can get that ringtone for my phone?
rons voice crack aa-
Ron's ringtone was best 😂😂
And he never got his massage
sell city hall. yes
I like Ron's enthusiasm but sadly that money saved will just be spent by the government somewhere else
It's all fun and libertarianism until you get to know Leslie Knope
Ron believes in government..... if his friends does.........
Ron believes that government shouldn't interfere with people's everyday lives. The government that governs best governs the least.
Leslie probably has the highest work output in the city. Thus laying off her makes no sense. Why lay off the person who does most of the work, lay off everyone else and have her do their jobs too.
I want my life to be a mi of Ron and Chris
Have that ringtone now for when the wife texts me, it reminds me of something i may have to do one day
Just the title of this video gave me a semi
IF CHRIS' SHOULDERS WERE MASSAGED, LESLIE'S JOB WOULD BE SAFE!
Anybody get the A Few Good Men reference?
Chris honestly is pretty sly. The moment Ben brings up Parks and Rec's budget he immediately calls for a massage train on Ron specifically just to make sure that Ron was distracted during that segment.
First, cliche yes but I feel like it
I would love to do this. I would do it for free if it was my city, state or even federal government. The only requirement I'd have is that I actually get to slash the budget, not just recommend the cuts.
I hated Ben so much in the beginning
😘😘😘

Ron Swanson is the worst libertarian ever. A libertarian that works for the govt? LOL
He acknowledges it himself. He works for the government to try and destroy it.
The one thing I don't like about Ron.. he hates the government, yet works for it... Hates that government spends in a stupid way... Yet accepts it's money. Ron you hypocritical mustachioed dude.
Lol yeah, I see where you’re coming from. However, I speculate that Ron still chooses to work in the government because he feels like he’s “infiltrating” it. Like his reasoning of why he works in the government can be summarized by a funny statement he says “I’d work all night if it meant nothing got done.” :P
@@elizabethyow1165 he is for the people, yet is screwing the people over by never wanting to help. He is being exactly what he thinks the government is.
Saw in a talk show that they interviewed a bunch of local gov people when they created Parks and Ron's Libertarian beliefs were based on a person they interviewed
@@pxxxbxxx1981 This little tidbit of information made my day.
Theirs a line in this clip that explains all wasteful government spending. "Thanks to Ron the services budget has already been cut significantly so it looks like the best thing is job cuts"
In the other departments there is wasteful service that can be cut but for parks the whole thing is held together by the good will of one senior leader and well they have to make cuts in every department, ...
Ron advocates sending endangered animals to be medically tortured and/or killed, and celebrates others losing their livelihoods, unless they happen to be someone he's personally friends with. And yet all anyone seems to fixate on with scenes like this is his minor virtue of being loyal to a few people in his social circle. I don't get it.
