- sorry, the *potential government shut down.
We picked out our favourite moments of political and financial chaos from Parks and Recreation - whether it's Leslie's response to the government shut down or Eagleton's crippling debt (you blew it. big time. complete buffoonery) it's here. Let us know what compilation you want to see next in the comments!
From "Parks & Recreation": a mockumentary series following Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. Leslie is determined to improve her small world through her job, despite resistance from Parks Director Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), an anti-government Libertarian. The series also stars Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari and Retta.

I love how Ron is all for cutting expenses, but firing Leslie is a line he won’t cross
He likes small government, and Leslie is like an entire government contained in one salary
@@bobbodaskank The duality of having jack-of-all-trades on your resume
Slash it!! slash it!! slash it!!
We watched the video
He states second highest paid person in the department… who’s the first and why they not losing their job? Seems like the failure to cut back falls on them. Not the second in command that has no say.
"Whats a not gay way to ask him to go camping with me" Lmao
I know a great camping spot but it's pretty hard to get to, think you're up to the challenge? Nope, still sounds provocative in a homosexual manner.
Do you want to go camping with me I cant wait to show you the woods and I know how to make a comfortable camping spot
You. Me. Alone. Under the stars... No one can hear you scream right? Haha
@luxuryballer8291 it must sound gay even though its not that's the challenge not horror
We heard
I love how delighted Ron is by the government shutdown he's like a kid on Christmas.
This is why we libertarians love Ron
We saw
Top comment is too correct
The 1:39 “what am I going to do with my kids all day” is one of my fav lesser quoted bits 😂 she delivers it so well!
The follow up...." keep them jn MY house?" Kills me

Jerry’s face when Leslie threw that painting he probably worked on the entire Government Shutdown into the lake was hilarious.😂
*threw
@@pandabear4565 lol dumb autocorrect
That was a park, right? She just littered in a park...
@@Aderranshe probably assumed the Birds would eat it like Tony in Green Book.😂😂
I knew the second a government shutdown was announced a Parks & Recreation compilation was assured.
I love that Ben and Leslie basically started as professional enemies, both completely standing against everything the other lives for. And they end up married with kids. Wild.
They don’t. Even in the shutdown episodes Ben admires Leslie and they drink together, sharing their common dreams of going into politics. Ben is just someone who is doing their job and won’t hesitate to fire his friends to do it.
I love how Ron is at the very least smirking in every scene LOL except when the government reopens 😅
0:37 A smile that rivals the Grinch
It's glorious.
Poor Andy not realizing 12% interest is actually a bad thing.😅 I also love that his actor Chris Pratt also said he had 12% of a plan in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”😂❤
I love Ben’s expression at Ron suggesting they sell city hall.😂
To be fair I think that he actually paid it off too so maybe that helped improve his credit score?
Ya he’s a fun guy. Like how he came back for the final season after his stardom took off and worked in how ripped he got
Fun fact, the reason 12 is used in situations like that is because its the highest number that is only 1 syllable so it rolls off the tongue for comedic effect easily
a piece of me dies inside every time I see Leslie throw Jerry's painting into the water
Not Leslie yheeting Jerry’s picturesque painting like a frisbee 😭
Ron is exactly how I felt when the government shut down. This is the episode that was used to introduced me to the show, and it’s the reason I love the character.
you like people not being paid?
@@adhiwicaksono6149They will get paid, they always get paid. That's just an emotional manipulation tactic. Dont fall for it
@@adhiwicaksono6149you like paying?

Only Donna could get a rubber nipple order up to 4,000 without breaking a sweat. She was so underutilised at the Parks department.
3:50 I love that Ron was actually about to reciprocate the massage.
4:05 Ron slipping into a baseball-runner slide and then immediately recovering will always get a smile out of me 😂
Ron in fact did not enjoy camping with Ben.
@6:38 there's a generic store bought chainsaw in the background. Ron would NEVER own that sub-standard unit and the props dpt should have KNOWN it would have been a Husqvarna, Sthill, or at the least, a Jonsered. The axe was perfect. An authentic splitting axe with a hickory handle, but that cheap, sub-standard chainsaw really broke the spell for me.
The irony is Ron is supposed to be a parody, and in the end he was just right.
Truth is stranger than fiction, and that quote gets proven almost every day these days.
About what? ...government shutdowns are not a good thing. That's something a suicidal country playing chicken with itself does.
i love how she just throws his painting in the water lol
We saw
That was a real masterpiece what Larry, Garry or Jerry was working on and Leslie just took it and chucked it into the water, that was so messed up, just let the man do something correct for the first time in his life woman!
He's married to a woman who's a dead ringer for Christie Brinkley, he'll be fine.
funniest part to me was 12% interest on a new bike was high
That is the joke, well done
@@Snookbone you obviously didnt get the joke
Looking back at it, it’s crazy how Ben and Leslie end up together considering how callous ben was at first
Andy with his new bike is like every millennial with a student loan 😅
Millennials are 35 years old, they aren't the ones taking out student loans these days.
@@holyknightthatpwns I didn’t say that. They are millennials (whom I am one of) describing the hell that is their student loans.
I actually remember sitting in the registration office at my school, reading all the student loan information. They made it sound like a such a sweet deal. Luckily ...I dropped out before I could make such a stupid life decision.
@@John-ir4id how much money do you make now
@@cruze1212 enough to stay comfortable and without the crippling debt of most of my peers.
"Keep them in my house?,where i live?"tfff🤣
Leslie's character can be described as belligerent, overzealous, petty, and more than slightly neurotic.
Yet we love her for it.
But, with best people's interest at heart and actually willing to admit her mistakes.
Meh she's in Ron's circle of trust maybe you have issues.
@@joelvr101 Except that she's the one who decides what's best for them, whether they like it or not. Great politician material, yup.

No the state auditors
5:34 that presentation is amazing.
12% APR on a small vehicle loan... that didn't age well.
I really think it would be a great idea if we turn the UN into low-rent apartments.
Be the most productive thing that's ever happend in that build.
Parks and rec can be defined by a single word. Afjsndksnfjs the switch backs in the Himalayas.
I called shotgun everybody heard me and ron doesnt care and still takes it... i love ron...
4:05 might be one of the funniest moments in this entire show
I love how Ron always talk about honor, but he refuses to do the job for what he was hired...
“Ben says ‘no.’ Sorry everyone.”
I find this funny but then again my mother, who works for TSA, won’t be able to pay her cancer bills if it’s shut down for too long 😳
Doesn’t she have COBRA or Obamacare?
If Rob Lowe is a regular on this show I gotta get into it.
Tom called shotgun... Not nice Ron... Not nice
4:05 Felt like it was a real fall

Every non-homeschooling parent:
Remember when 12% interest on a vehicle loan WAS actually high 😂😂😢
Good place and parks/rec crossover lets goooo
Well, well, well... haahhahaha!
There is a police chief in the meeting at 2:55 how did he not react to Ron's Ringtone 🤣
He used to that
RON! Focus up buddy
Y'know, that Eagleton saying just taps you right on the lower anterior of the left deltoid.
This series is so much a product of its time. Centrist neoliberalism everywhere.
And Ron Swanson, probably the only "libertarian" who is not a psychopath and is actually nice.
"They're coming!" "Russians?" LOL
12 percent interest lmao you can get much higher than that
"They're Coming!"
"Who, the Russians?"
Kristen Bell is the best cameo you could ever have.
I love Andy thinks the higher the interest rate, the better......
12% isn't even that bad today. I find that hilarious that they picked a super high number and that's considered above average now.
NOOOO El cuadro de Jerry!!!
Swanson 2024
Kristen Bell! I didn't recognize her back then but now I do lol
hot take but I don't like how Leslie is mean to Jerry
Yeah I remember being bummed out by the bullying at one point in the series. It did not make any sense. Toby from the office for exemple can be weird and creepy, but Jerry/Gary is just so nice
I didn't like it either
Jerry of Parks and Rec and Toby of the office. I didn't like both being bullied for no apparent fault of theirs
Lighten up. This a comedy show!
4:42 Just wondering, how does the govt. of a city have a debt to equity ratio?
“What’s a non gay way of asking him to go camping with me”
Larry is the best
Whats a not gay way to ask him to go camping with me 🤣
Using duplicate clips to hit mid roll ads? Respect lost….
since 87,,,
try twins 4 two yrs
When 12% intrest work the worst you could get 😢
Why would the parks shut down instead ceasing keeping it clean/cares for
- if the government is shut down who's gonna stop AlQaida? 😂😂
The joy on Ron's face when asked about stopping Al-Qaeda is beautiful. Why did Ron even come into the building at the start of the shutdown? Also, for the 8,000,000th time: why did Ann date Andy?
Complete bafoonery
Why did he START with Leslie Knope, you'd think she's the most useful employee they have.
What's hilarious is with our current government, a 12% interest rate is pretty common
So, how do you close a park?
It hurt when I heard his interest rate, that’s normal now 😂
I don't get it, why Ron hate the government, but works there, quite an hypocrite.
He aims to destroy it from within
It's an "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" type of thing
He purposely works for the government so that he can purposely sabotage the government.
No he says in an episode he will dive deep into the belly of the beast to be destroyed
Throwing Jerry’s painting was too far.
Leslie is a Democrat and Ron is a Republican
I'm with Ron 100% throughout this.
Doesn't Ron work for the government?
Yeah but he’s a libertarian and on purpose doesn’t do anything so that government doesn’t increase
I honestly do not see how anyone could like Leslie.
It's fairly easy to figure out. As much of a pain as she is, she doesn't do what she does out of malice, she does it because she cares. She cares about her friends, her town, her state and country. She just happens to believe the path to a better world is a world where the government and the citizenry honor their obligations to each other. I have a friend who is very similar to that. Personally, I would rather be in a world where the government was a functional irrelevancy, but I can see his point of view same as hers.
Okkl.
19% interest for the bike? Crazy. My loan is 21.5%! He made a deal!

Interesting how they made female characters so repulsive and insufferable, especially the main one. "The mug that asks for a brick" if I ever saw one.
Okay Boomer
Nah Leslie's one of the best female comedy leads imo.. and there's not many out there 😂 mabye if you saw more of her 🤔
Interesting how wrong you are. The female characters on this show are one of the most loved among many TV series
@@Maya_hee That has to be proven. The only character most loved is Ron Swanson. I've never seen any reference to female characters. Apart from maybe the Audrey Plaza one, whatshername.
