Favorite Ron Swanson quote: "The whole point of this country is, if you want to eat nothing but garbage, balloon up to 600 pounds, and die of a heart attack at 43, you can. You are free to do so. To me, that's beautiful."
and accept the consequence of doing so!!!! Don't come to govt to pay for your healthcare bills if you decide "Well... I need to fix this now"

Capitalism! Gods way of deciding who is Smart, and who is Poor.

Well, they have a very good business model
It's not that far off from the truth. We actually use McDonald's as the best example of private groups running things and offering services.

You don't have to be a libertarian to appreciate that Parks and Rec had an outspoken libertarian as a main character. That RARELY happens in mainstream media and it was really refreshing to see
He was meant to be a parody at first but as the series went on, and people started to relate to him and admire him, they made him a more three dimensional Libertarian character. Even though nowadays, most Libertarians are pretty cancerous.
@@legofan370 I disagree with you. Libertarianism, more specifically anarcho-capitalism is preferable to any system of governance.
@@anunknownentity1637 I'm not saying Libertarianism is bad, but I find most people who preach it have a major ego about it and act like they're smarter than everyone else. Plus, ever since Gary Johnson, the party has been kind of a mess.

@Harry Abma Sadly it's not that easy
Ron Swanson is so stereo typically American I love it. I know the character was created to mock libertarianism but even us libertarians love Ron.
I like how this show mocks all angles of politics but in a really endearing way. I may not politically agree with each character but I love every one of them. I consider myself very liberal but I would absolutely love to hang out with and learn from Ron. He is simply the best!
He could have been made to make fun of us yes, but he is still always correct.
He seems like someone the libertarian party would seriously nominate
I've never perceived the show as mocking libertarianism.
7:43 Seeing him perk up when he learns of the topic her report is about always makes me giggle.
He perks up.
It’s hilarious that we consider that perking up for him 😂 he barely showed emotion
I’m absolutely convinced Ron is based on a friend of mine. He works for the local government, but he hates anything government. He even talks, laughs and has the same demeanor as Ron. My friend even married a single mom with two girls. When my friend gets drunk he acts like a different person, just like Ron.
Ron: *proceeds to eat a girl's lunch*
Also Ron: *gives the girl a claymore landmine after
Girl learns about .onion's, sells the landmine on-line for enough money to buy hundreds of those lunches. Then also turns in about 5 dozen pedo's to FBI for even more dough.
Fair trade if you ask me

@Doctor Tophat Someone hasn't been on tumblr lately.
Right.
She wasn't unattended. Look n the background when he gives her the Claymore.
“My idea of perfect government is, one guy, who sits in a small room at a desk and the only thing he’s allow to decide is.. who to nuke.” 💀💀
The older I get, the more I agree with Ron in almost every way. I know the writers meant him to sound crazy, but it just makes sense. Haha
The scene with Lauren where he describes taxes using her lunch is simple, detailed, and a like a kick to the nuggets with a steel toed boot! Reminds me of the 1st time, many, many years ago, I reviewed my paystub from work and felt financially raped.
This was the 2nd greatest character created for television next to Al Bundy 😁
Same especially during the coronavirus
@@michellegriff13 He made too much sense that scene so they had to even it out by him giving her a claymore mine.
They did make some of his views extreme but most of what he says makes perfect sense.
As the saying goes:
"If you're not a socialist by the age of 20 - you have no heart.
If you're not a capitalist by the age of 30 - you have no brain."
@@rafaelperes6333 Ron Swanson: "Eliminate the post office"..."FDR ruined this country"

Girl coming back. ?
Ron Swanson, while a satirized and extreme example of libertarianism, has inspired a whole new generation of libertarians even if that wasn’t the intention.
Evidence, please.
That's ironic because we were making fun of a stupid political ideology. It's a silly joke that unintigent people sincerely claim as their belief system.

I love how Ron believes that government is a waste of money and proceeds to waste tax payers money trying to be as ineffective and unproductive as possible. The irony LOL
A park costs more then his salary i think that’s the point he was making haha
You’ve used irony incorrectly.
You should exactly expect a person who works for the government and believes the government to be a waste to act in such a way as to prove themselves right. His actions directly match his ideology.
Here is the definition of irony based on your usage: “a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.”
He says paying for government is a waste, and he acts in such a way as to be a waste of peoples’ tax money. It would be ironic if he said he believed it a waste and acted like Chris.

He gave a nine yr old a land mine lmfaooooooooooooooo
But he avoided using an age-inappropriate metaphor.
Kaus Kommentator
He believes in self defense and wants to preserve what he created with that nine year old. He looked like he felt accomplish.
I do agree that’s it’s stupid and that he didn’t think about giving a nine year old a bomb while she was on a school trip. still hilarious. There’s comedy and shows off Ron as a character
Yeap
Some kids learn to handle dynamite around that age
Chris Pratt is his absolute BEST when he's Andy Dwyer! LOL!
I got a feeling the writers started the whole libertarian thing with ron as a joke and towards the end they started to agree with it and it became more serious

I love Ron, but the world he envisions is literally The Outer Worlds.
The script is brilliant and perfectly executed. Kudos for this mashup.
4:42 This part will always make me laugh. The way that he just wanted to show everyone that he was eating bacon rapped shrimp is so funny to me.
*Ron Swanson knows what he is about, son.*
Ron Swanson knows.
When Ron is describing his ‘perfect one man government’, he shows how he does actually want government, just not the current system
Andy's reaction when Diane asks Ron to go trick or treating tho...priceless
Ron's voice, hairstyle and moustache are goals. I just wish that if I get a dad bod as I grow old, I'd want to look like him.
I knew a guy who grew a beard, because if you're overweight and clean-shaven, you're "fat"; but if you have a beard, you're "burly".
I ve worked for the government for 7 and a half years. I concur, the government is inefficient and should be dissolved.
Just saying that gave me a semi

Yeah, I’ve definitely stolen this line for use in my life more than I should
I am gonna have "SLASH IT, SLASH IT, SLASH IT..." written on my T-shirt and Ron's face below it.
There will never be another character like Ron in any series.
"This is a claymore landmine" gets me everytime
Always funny how Poehler, the writers and even Offerman thought they made Ron a hilarious satirical parody of small government types and that they held the views up to ridicule.
And then it turns out he was the most popular character and people still crave the wisdom of the character.
Suck it.
People don't like him for his views on government. They like him for his other characteristics.
I want to go through life as ferociously as Ron chucks computer into dumps.
As someone who works in the government and has to answer calls I’m gonna use “the government is inefficient and should be dissolved” as a response to any issues people have 🤣🤣🤣
