I really like what you said about how 27 only feels old because you've only ever been younger, that's a really nice way of looking at it. I've never liked my birthday either and I'm turning 28 this year which makes me want to throw up. I think it's extra hard for us as autistics because we *literally* have a developmental disability and yet we're held to the same developmental standard as everyone else when of course things are going to take us a little bit longer to navigate.

i'm loving these filofax infodumps; they feel like a nice little check-in on your system and give a nice insight into your thoughts on the whole thing. even in moments when i think to myself 'oh, that's definitely not the solution i would have come to,' i feel like i cube away with a greater understanding of what i do and don't like in my own notebooks.

Funny (in the ironic/coincidental type of way) that I had therapy after I watched this video in the morning, and my therapist also said to me that being neurodivergent makes it so I take longer to process things. I've been going through a lot of changes that my brain is still catching up on from the last several months, and that's probably why I have been so anxious/stressed lately. I've really been craving quiet days lately, too, just to be by myself and recharge as I get through things.

An alternative to sewing the patches is to “iron glue” them. I’m not sure what the name is but it’s glue “fabric” that you iron onto the patch to apply the glue and then iron the patch onto the cover.
Also, been loving these infodump episodes✨

The same thing happened to one of my pens. I dropped the bottom part (not the clicky top part) onto the floor - and it vanished. I've searched for it everywhere - there's really nowhere it can hide anyway. And it's definitely gone to another dimension. Your description of that is perfect.

I do use the new Sansen paper and it works amazingly with my favourite gel pens: the pentel energel and the uni-ball one, both dry super fast, by the time I finish the sentence it is dry (on both the Sansen and Midori paper), I also tested Zebra Sarasa and works amazing. The only pen I don’t like and everyone seems to love is the uni-ball signo, it has a shine I find distracting and smudges on every single paper I have ever tried. I use Midori MD as my journal/commonplace and that is the only pen that has ever smudged on that paper, and the worst thing ever happened to me was that the writings on one page would transfer for he previous, I hate the signo with a passion.

I’ve always liked the Parker ballpoint. I had that exact brushed silver barrel one decades ago (I’m old). I think the fact that the design hasn’t changed is a testament to how good they are. I’m a pen freak, though, so I’m always trying new ones. Wow, you know Bela Lugosi, he’s even before my time! I like your new cover.

I can fully relate to the pen change feeling big. The idea of moving away from my primary pen makes my chest feel weird and tight. I’ve been using this pen since 2016/7 and I genuinely cannot leave it and move to a different one. I did pick up a kaweco sport recently and I do like it a lot - to the point that I lost it a couple of days ago and I am stressed - but I am struggling to find an ink that I like for it as the actual kaweco ink is hard to find!
But the tldr is that I can completely relate to how you feel and I am impressed that you are making the change and I hope you are successful with it!
Edit: I did in fact find my kaweco sport, it was where I thought it was haha

Kaweco Ink - Are you in the US, EU, or UK?
US - Goulet Pens and Goldspot Pens have online shops, they should have Kaweco ink. There's a few real shops but state-dependent.
UK - PurePens, Cult Pens, Write Here, Art From The Heart, All Things Analogue. All online. Last three have real shops. London has Choosing Keeping, at least.
EU - Appelboom, at least, should have it in stock.
      (Hope that helps.)

had such a joy division phase last winter (heart and soul may be my favorite song of theirs) actually never thought to try to find a whole concert recording somehow but that static-y thing you're describing sounds right up my alley, will go and search some!! man we had this old television when i was a kid that was slowly breaking and it would turn neon green for quite a moment while the static was almost tangible in front of the screen like you could reach out and touch it, i was really scared of that thing very cursed energy but just remembered that crunchy crinkling sound! yuk foo!! love it so much. saw the cure live in 2022! unbelievable haha made me dance endlessly my favorite kind of concert, MOVE ME haha, shake dog shake live!! a WHOLE MOMENT the group-stim of it all and burn of course (love the drum heavy ones). also so CLEAR i could tell every word apart which was magical for the way my ears work with english. also a winter concert and they changed the temperatures of how the songs usually go which blew my mind and it just so fit the season somehow. really wonder how that would've went in the summer!
love the sow-on idea, fully frightened of permanence but my eyeballs love it!! love the bela lugosi one although i must admit that i'm yet to catch up on the lore there. so far i'm also sliding little decorative card bits in the pockets and planning to cover a sticker of this two-headed raven with clear tape to secure them with some flexibility that hopefully holds up in the cover-bend. plan is to stick them behind the little folder-thing want them to lurk out.

I'm always pro patches! I think the candle and bela would make a really charming pair of you do end up going for it, and I agree with the other commenters saying maybe try it with fusable seam tape or another adhesive before diving into sewing if you think sewing it would be too big a change to add to what you are already processing. But also maybe just doing it might feel like a way to put yourself in control and that might be more helpful!

I'm the same with my pen. I use pentel energel 0.5 and I quite like it.
I tried zebra sarasa and uniball etc. But it's just not the same. And I get a lot of criticism from my friends they get confused cause they see it as "well, they're all 0.5 black gel pens how different can they be"
But it makes a big difference for me since I use it a lot. Like how a particular running shoe is crucial for a particular runner my pen is particularly suitable for me 😊

Hello! Just an FYI regarding Frixion ink: while it will "disappear" when exposed to heat, the ink will "reappear" after it's exposed to cold. (Put your disappeared pages into the freezer!) Also, I love your videos, thanks for taking us along on your commonplace book adventures.

What about making your own patch out of the Bela Lugosi or other print by stitching around the print with a blanket stitch, for example, and ironing on bonding web (or other material) to give it weight? Then you could attach it like you would have any other patch. Just a thought :)

The Morterm cover is much stiffer once you use the slots and pockets. But take that with a grain of salt because I have a no rings, A6 cover so it might be more dense because it's smaller.

Have you thought about getting patches with special glue on them that activates with heat? You put them in the chosen piece of clothing and iron it and voilà. In my experience they do not stick a lot so they are relatively easy to remove if you don't like them. Or maybe you could try special fabric glue? That Bella Lugosi patch looks bomb though!

I really love the look of the patches ☺If you don't mind the permanence maybe a hot glue gun would also be more convenient than sewing? Apart from that I would definitely start with the back of the planner and not with the front and just see how it goes.
