I would love to see a video about different binder sizes for different purposes. From pocket to A4 size. It will be interesting.
Just found your channel. I got my first filofax a personal in racing green. I adored it. I never went anywhere without it. By the end of each year it would be bulging. I have shoeboxes with annual collections of the diaries and notes for each year. Nothing like opening a crisp new year diary.
This year l am retiring and have invested in 2 saffino personal organizers. One for all my daily info etc and then the second one for my planning, expenses, finances, general household management. Love love love writing things down😊

What l did omit was the date. It was in 1986 when l was 28. Being a nurse my salary was not great so this purchase back then was quite an expensive one but oh so worth. It began my love affair with Filofax and also journaling❤
Such a great video! You covered everything I could think of, and more. My main perk is that it's a loose-leaf system so I can tinker with my setup until I finally reach that elusive planner peace. I also like that I can make my own inserts and dividers, and I actually even made my own organiser (there's a video on my channel)! I appreciate not everyone has the tools, time, and skills for this.
Thank you for sharing. Very well said. I am so happy to have found the system and put it to use. I remember using ring-bound books in school as a child and as I graduated the computer and then the internet took this out of the picture. Now thirty years later I am thrilled to be back.

Thank you for a great and very informative video. I, too, am addicted to paper planning. I initially started with a DayTimer, then over several years' time, advanced to a FiloFax. I'm sure you've seen the Charles Grodin movie "Taking Care of Business" that showcases the constant use of a paper planner. I'm not a fan of using my phone, it's not something that you can keep when it's in your phone, like the satisfaction of putting the planner away at the end of the year. I used one at work for 25 years. Issue for longhand diary use is that the left hand page is tricky to use because of the rings' position against the writing hand

It’s a Golunski, made in England. Ultra high quality, but little known.

Also, on the digital-analogue thought train a Filofax, if lost, is gone and so has everything in it. No chance of recovery from a backup, the cloud, or anything else.
You're absolutely right. Personally, I tend to have two [a[er records, in separate locations, and then back that up with phots of my paper based records, that are then stored in the cloud and on a portable hard drive; but that may be overkill for most people. I do find it amazing that everything I've ever written, in my entire lifetime, could fit on a single 500gb SD card, when my first "works" laptop had just a 20mb hard drive!

That’s certainly a multi-layered backup approach, if I did that I’d never actually get anything done, I’d be too busy maintaining the backup system! I, like you, find all this stuff interesting but I do worry that many people, myself included, think too much about the systems and not enough about the actual doing. I was guilty, at school, of constantly producing revision timetables instead of actually revising 😂 A system is only as good as the actual action it brings about, when it all becomes just about the system we just end up shuffling things around and getting nowhere.
As you can see from my videos, I'm very focussed on paper based productivity, and how these analogue systems not only have a place in todays society, and indeed should be considered by many.
But I have a foot in the digital world too. Many thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

I agree with much that you say and I have a strong connection to the analogue approach, however….. A fundamental negative I always hit up against is the loss of the powerful search facility offered by digital solutions these days, especially for notes, journals, diaries, and pretty much anything else.
I agree that "search" is a problem. Personally, for complex data where search is a requirement, I go digital. But for data where a simple search is required, such as looking for details of a specific company I del with, an alphabetically organised paper based system is preferable.
Each to his or her own for sure but for me finding a contact in a digital system is one hell of a lot quicker and easier than going through a Filofax record. I have maybe 800 digital “contacts” and they are not even all names I know but I can search for say “electrician” which will be in the contact notes and out will pop any listed electricians, I’d find this impossible in just a Filofax. That said I do keep my important contacts in paper form in case of a disaster 😂

😀@@Flatability Most of them are just relics from previous communications and I've just done some pruning! I've worked out a way of converting my personal digital contacts into a personal analogue address book. Printed it onto A5, punched it, and added it to my Filofax. I'll just write on the backs of the pages and reprint maybe every 12 months so at least if there is a digital disaster I've still got all the information.

I only buy vintage Filofaxes now because for some time now, the ring mechanisms are terrible and unreliable.
