Do you still service your route regularly yourself? At what point did you hire your first employee? How many employee/partners do you have? What is the best way to pay an employee in this business? Hourly/by machine serviced? Great videos, keep em coming!
I bought a dixie narco 276 made in 1992 for $250 to start in 2019 and from its sales I now have 17 machines and and am making 75000 a year and I have never had any issues with the 276 at all
I would definitely agree that "passive" is not a good term to describe vending. A lot of manual labor involved. I own a route, and the best part is the flexibility. I never have to ask for a day off. I also agree to not take on small locations like barber shops or small car care centers, even as a new vendor. These locations are easy to get for a reason, they are not profitable. Good info here!
Man, i found out the hard way. I have a couple dealerships on my route, in a small town. But i find the moment those guys slow down with their work, the more they start picking on us. When they’re bored, they try and find things to complain about. I just had one owner basically bs his way out of our machine.
i did vending from 2003 to 2012 some of what you say is true how ever they didnt have card readers then that i know of ,i moved all my machines even the ones from the bottlers the reason i got out was couldnt compete with the bigger companys canteen mainly and the economy kept going up and down prices on products keep going up as well
Thanks for this. Just started and this was helpful! Sharing a vid on maintenance program (how often / what you do) and any training ops docs you give to your team (like their routine onsite during a fill- eg do they test vend in addition to loading?, noting products moving? Etc).
Hi there Adam , just joined you channel, . Loads if tips to follow . Just got my fisrt machine , but should if checked it out first properly 😢 . Some of the trays work. Cut a long stories short . Know one wants to fix it. Automotive products , snackshop 112 1996 vintage .So trying to sort the problems out my self . Keep up the good work. Next time I buy one is going to be off a proper seller. Cheers
Wish I had seen this channel before I got into the business. Great content! Also I’m curious on your thoughts on the new smart Swift vending machines. Also are you going to Nama this year?
I’m in vending I’m 19 my dad just gave me 6 of his vending machines 2 are at a bank building in downtown Toronto and the other 2 are at a dealership I do regular service on it and my first return did fine but I need card readers but some are old machines so kinda stuck
But my first machine about a week ago when do you think would be a good time to buy a second one. I already have a promising location in mind but don't want to "jump the gun"on it.
What is the best way for someone who is still in the 'education stage' of their business, who has not purchased any machines yet, to determine which machine brands and models are best? Are there any sites or ways to gather that information? Is this something you cover in your ebook at all?
Want to get into this business. What are the quality brands? You get what you pay for so what is the best for drink machines? I hope you see this even though it's been so long.
What would you say are your favorite machine brands? I have the option of buying refurbished dixie-narco's with credit card reader for about 1500 near me and wondering if you think this is a good deal.
Anyone have any links to websites that offer printable questionnaires to give to potential locations to see what their snack and drink preferences would be?
The best advice if you want to get started in vending: DO NOT buy cheap, old, out-dated vending machines. They WILL NOT make money! Start out small- buy 1 good new modern machine that locations want. You WILL NOT get good high-traffic locations with old outdated machines!
Just started last month....you definitely need some type of sales skills and basic business education.....such as finding locations and setting up a account to get credit card readers and access to WiFi or get 4g coverage to send the transactions! Also supplies! ... that's why they quit after buying the machines
I’m interested in what’s kept you from taking on coffee and water services for some of your locations. Just kind of seems like easy extra money if your already there
@@calebhoney6159 good coffee equipment is expensive, people want new fangled machines with touch button to get latte, cappuccinos, espresso. Upkeep of the machines more than other machines. Knowledge is needed to fix the machines (plumbing, etc).
Yea, it seems like most businesses use a dedicated coffee vendor..one that specializes in coffee, and they have a separate vendor for snacks and drinks. Speaking to some people who have been in the vending game for several years, I have been told that coffee machines are expensive and have more maintenance issues than snack or drink machines. Things like hose leaks, etc.
There's a vending machine next to where i work and where it sits it's not being used and i asked did it they want to sell it they said they would let me know, but I'm thinking about making them an offer on it and take it over and maybe generate alittle income at first and see where it goes, Tell me what you think, Thanks
Can you elaborate on what this means? To someone still learning about the industry (or at least to me lol) "MDB" & "exec" don't mean anything clear without more context. I'd love to learn from your tip if you're down to clarify!
@@ItsAsparageese Basically if your machine is MDB (1 lead from the coun mech to the machine) you can see the stock level of the machine on the NAYAX card reader but if you have exec (2 leads from the coin mech to the machine) you can't see the transactions or the cash transactions
@@CapybaraRobl0x Ah gotcha, thanks so much for responding! That's still a little jargony, but now the overall idea is much clearer & this gives me enough context to be able to google further detail! I appreciate it!
Lam going to buy account for 5k and the account have 3 machines and have credit card proof of 700$ month the location is assisted living facility do you think that is good buy?
I have a question. (if your able to answer that would be great but if not thats ok as I'm being kinda aggressive on finding the answer and will hopefully find it) do you have to have a license for 1 toy vending machine and a location to sell small toys in said vending muchine. I'm planning to do it by myself, I look, watched and studied a little on how to fix it, noone else will be working on it. I just wanted to test the waters and see if its something I want to do for an actual business.
If you are operating any type of service you should definitely decide on the most appropriate business structure for yourself. Many people select a limited liability company LLC. The importance of this is to protect yourself, as the owner, from being sued and potentially losing your personal assets, savings, house etc. With an LLC, your company is an independent entity. In the state of New Jersey it only costs $125 to apply for an LLC. You should also consider a general liability insurance policy. They range from $25 to $100 per month. Should a machine fall over and injure someone you will need protection.
That depends entirely on your state & county laws. Most do regulate vending businesses, & issue licenses as a means of supervising compliance with things like having liability insurance in case someone gets hurt using your machine, that you're not selling moldy food, et cetera. So yep, you will need a license in most places.

Too be fair card readers weren’t as popular back then and didn’t really start being a thing until the last few years that you were in it.
Thank you so much! This is very very helpful ❤I appreciate you for sharing this information!

To get a $3-4K a month in sales, how much foot traffic per day is needed?
