Oh wow, this turned out so well. I love your videos so this was a real honour. Big should out to Tempest, Chronos, B00bies, Ruskeydoo, Dr. Zeus, JimboMcB and everyone else who had a hand in the creation of the pod, the hat and it's original gifting process. A little embarrassing to get my name read out so often when there have been, are and will be so many other people involved in KritzKast related projects but I'm happy to take the win :)

Honestly, the Lo-Fi Longwave is by far the most interesting item in TF2 that's related to any sort of community events, mostly because it's still a thing.

What a wonderful video. This takes me back to the days when TF2 was the only game on my mind.
I was fortunate to receive one of the first vintage Lo-Fi Longwaves through the quiz mentioned. And I still remember the pure happiness I felt when I got it. I also somehow got myself a 2nd Lo-Fi that was not vintage. But I do not remember how...
Short time after. Some fellow Kritzkast followers and gaming buddies were taking a part of ETF2L Highlander (Division 6, I think) and named our team The Lo-Fi's or something along those lines.
We kind of made our selves the unofficial representation from Kritzkast. And what made this so fun, is that we won our division. A team full of vintage Lo-Fi hats!
And somehow shortly after. This news reached the lovely people over at Kritzkast and it was mentioned in one of the podcast. It was probably some of the most fun I have had in TF2.
But this happened so long ago and last time I launched the game was in early 2015, it seems...
Anyway... thanks for making this video. It brings me back to some good times that I had forgotten. Lovely video!

To be honest, i love that hat, even though i have some unusuals, i only wear lo-fi painted with Australium Gold on all my classes.

Submitted some of my TF2 SFM art for the show a few episodes back in 2017 (just looked it up, it's episode 406), and that got me a longwave. It's truly one of my fave hats.
Fantastic stuff as always. Absolutely love how you were able to interview and get direct info (and that coffee-stained paper was pretty funny too)
The edging competition poster is probably one of the funniest things I have ever seen
I have a vintage from the original distribution. It's been fun to wear around but doesn't get recognised in pubs very often. Honestly, if I could sell it off I would, it'd probably fund a modest holiday. That said, it's the only hat I wear on every class, because why wouldn't you?
Pairs quite nicely with Max's severed head. The ears poke through the top.
Secret 3rd way of getting the hat: Be a guest on the show. In most cases you will nominate a user to receive a longwave too.
This hat has always been pretty interesting, ever since it was added to the game, personally I got mine from a SFM submissions thing they used to do, where if they needed a SFM image for their stuff they would pull from those submissions and send you a longwave.
If I do get a Lofi long wave I'm gonna name it Lofi hip hop beats to relax/study to

I think the "Make a big positive impact in the tf2 community" as a reason to get the hat is a lil over the top since I got the hat after was asked if some of my sfm's could be used as thumbnails but apart from that nice video!
Those words actually came from Agro himself! I think the point he wanted to get across was that people shouldn't expect a Longwave for any specific thing, and certainly shouldn't go doing activities specifically to get the Longwave. In your case it sounds like your art was spotted and existed for honest reasons i.e. was fan art for the sake of fan art, not personal gain, and probably a little bit of right place right time! If KK made the statement that "the Longwave is awarded for high quality SFM" then they'd have 1,000 requests a day :P
@@Casperr That actually makes a lot of sense! I had no clue the hat existed when I got it and had just happily let the channel use my sfm's as thumbnails just for the sake of it

Would be cool if longwave has it's own small effect. Like wiki cap has the community sparkle or the Traveler's Hat has stamps coming out of it etc. Longwave should have signals or something radiating from the tower. A nice little detail which would make the hat stand out more.

The season I participated was really quiet. There were maybe 8 people who contested that month lol. Maybe after this video it’ll get busier

@@KamonKanaiTV Yea, I got one. I was first place for long time. then got 2nd place, 2nd place still wins one. for longest time I stayed second.
Until my own friend beat the top time, pushing me down to 3rd place. meaning I wouldnt get one.
Luckily, the 1st person gets a vintage one and a unique one to give away. And since my friend basically denied me my lo-fi, he gifted the unique one to me

Oh, I have a unique Lo-Fi, I can honestly say though, I have no idea how I ended up getting it. Though I feel like I remember just clicking a button and a while later it showed up in my inventory, although this was many years ago.
The hat is interesting. I have no real interest in owning it, but the story behind it is really cool.
Hey I know you may not answer this or know the answer but playing tf2 in the inferno challenges it got stuck and it thinks that is still going on even though I completed it and got the normal jet pack. It says that I have the rented one what do I do so I can get the hot hand

I got the original vintage one and was dumb enough to use it for crafting a hat along with my other untradeable hats, like the one I got for being an original orangebox player. Nowadays I feel stupid for it. I still have my unique one though, but I have no idea what I did to earn it unlike the vintage one I got from the quiz.

It breaks my heart that i can never ever obtain such a beautiful hat...i did have an idea though about fighting against the bots once but i can never came to it cause it sounded stupid
But you can! The competitions still run regularly ☺️ and there are no stupid ideas, everyone will appreciate you trying to fight the bots even if it doesn't work in practise, all we can do is try!
