This is the most underrated phone of 2019. Best in class 32bit DAC with wired headphones. This phone is the best G series from LG. The display is very nice, cameras & battery. This display rivals the s10+. Great job LG, for 620.00 a great buy, hell I paid 672.00 for my V10, nothing wrong with that!

I had the Lg tribute . only 1 gig of ram and it was crazy fast. Now i have k20. 2gigs ram. Still fast.
Now i got the v30 super fast.

I love my LG G8. The battery life is great. Going on 2 days and I am at 45% battery. I am glad LG makes 2 flagship phones because I like the smaller size LG G8 the V40 and V50 are too wide for my small hands.
One of the best review i have seen till now. The way u eliminated the hand motion gimmick feature, i really loved it. Because that just was not needed and u did overall video awesome!

Nice Long Term Review. It's worth it.
When using speaker phone you need to talk into the microphone at the top of the phone not into the speaker itself. The microphone at the bottom of the phone turns off when you use speaker phone. Seems to be how all current phones are anyway.

I am not a photographer but I use camera in the past and I have to adjust setting or control just to get the best pictures. LG manual mode is the best out there and can give you a better picture than any smartphone out there. LG may not be the best auto mode camera out there but a little adjustment here and there is not going to hurt. I have yet to see one you tuber do a video using Manuel mode for still photos. I have use LG phones in the past and it gave me some great pictures. If it is there, why not use it. Lg camera is the most fun to use because of it.
For sure, if you take your time and position the shot, you can get some really stunning images.
Auto mode seems good to me on the G8.
@@DanielleVoiculescu it is actually. I have the v40 and it takes better pictures than the s10 plus. Some people have to understand that pictures need to be uploaded onto a laptop or computer to see how good a camera is. For instance the picture on my v40 looks flat on the phone but when I upload it onto a computer it looks so much different

Man 12 hours is bad? You want more battery life? This is good compared to others.

@@TheJabberTech honestly I value battery life more so than screen quality. Like my Samsung I move it to 720p. My experiences aren't that much different.
1080p gets me amazing battery life for me. I'm getting 7-8 hrs screen on time and lasts me a long full day. I do a mix of streaming, CZcams, social media, etc. I only got 4.5-6 hrs on S8 and S9 from Samsung. Speaker phone sucks for Samsung. I don't have any issue for speaker phone. I've had the phone for a week.

Just look up on youtube: lg vs samsung. And lg beats every samsung. G7 beats the s9
G8 beats the s10. Battery. Sound (ot beats every cellphone in sound) SPEED and most importantly :Price.
I have the T-Mobile version of the G8. It has been updated to Android 10 with true Dark Mode, new LG UX & other cool new features including screen recording from the drop down menu. An updated video highlighting the new look & features would be well appreciated!
I just ordered on Amazon Renewed, 242.00 buck-a-roos. At this price it's a great addition to my stable, along with my S21+ & 4xl. I can't wait to try out the 32bit DAC? Kind of a no-brainer at this price!

I have the same exact issue with speaker phone calls however ever since the Android 10 upgrade, haven't noticed too much complaints....tbh nothing compares to the LG G7 speaker wish they would of kept it for the G8(this is coming from a avid LG user since LG G2 I've used every "G" version out there)...I totally agree it takes some getting used to with the hand gestures but I gave up on it too.. They must of heard you and added the health well-being on the recent upgrade to 10 and the pop-up you're looking for is in settings under extensions floating bar...another cool thing I like is the option to have live 360 wallpaper and live 360 video wallpaper with sound in the wallpaper settings
If you have a screen protector make sure it's not covering the mic for your speakerphone. If it does no one will be able to hear you very well. This happened to me on my HTC u11 phone. The mic was located at the top of the screen by the front camera.
This phone has no speaker grill, it uses what they call crystal OLED technology, sound comes through the screen.
Have you tried the dual screen? If yes, what were your thoughts on using it? Also Out of the LG G8 thinQ, the Samsung Galaxy s10 which would you believe to be a better device?
Even after upgrading from my LG G7 (because I thought it was broken) the LG G8 was still worth it.

7hour sot on qhd speakers are fine absolute beast device i would reAlly like to see you post screen shots of your sot because i don't believe you... You did not specify anything were those 12hr over lte or wifi what was the brightness what were you doing because g8 has amazing battery life...
LOL, why would i lie about my battery life..makes no sense dude. Auto brightness, LTE all day errr day. I have never got 7hrs SOT . Plus SOT is absolutely a garbage test for battery life, so many factors play a role in a battery's longevity (brightness, signal strength , processing power, etc). Everyone uses their phones differently and get different results, not a pissing contest when it comes to SOT :)
I'm getting great battery life with FHD 1080p. 7-8.5 hrs. QHD ate more battery. I can't see a difference, though. I prefer the camera to S8, S9 and S10 myself... To each their own. Pixel 3 has a nice cam, but they have other issues that made me say no even with $600 on sale. Got G8 for $620.
Plz do a video on lg g8 gcam ... it has a great sensor but lacks in software optimization.
Last time I checked,gcam port wasn't available for the g8
@@TheJabberTech The Gcam port is also not available for oneplus 7 pro but there are tons of video on CZcams. Maybe u should use the one plus 7 pro gcam port made available by the CZcamsr in there descriptions link. I'll suggest try Technical jock channel he provided the gcam port for snapdragon 855 with minor tweaks. I hope this helps.
Appreciate it but I'l wait for the "official" G8 port, my experience has taught me not to be impatient...the camera is a very decent shooter as is. You should try it and lmk

LG needs to being back cool features like the ultrawide shot and the dual photo option from the Optimus G pro

Im using the Samsung S7 Edge from 2016 and I've been looking on LG G8 lately. Is it a good upgrade? From diffrent brand
A few weeks ago, I went from the S6 Edge (which I loved, but the battery life suffered after the last two updates), to this one. I got this for $350 brand new and it's a VERY impressive phone.

Here in Italy we have the LG G8s (3 cameras). I can't wait more my little beast. About prices? Shit this is the phone that get the best prices on a few months. I just paid 460 fucking euros. Samsung and Apple boys kiss my Johnny.

I unmounted lot of iMacs and Macbooks always found LG displays there. The LG C8 TV is one of a kind. The masterpiece Apple XDR display is made in collaboration with LG Display (as their collaborating from many years). I had the Nexus 4, LG G2, G4, G6 and V30+ always great devices with superb displays. No gimmicks, deep and natural colours from the display to camera. I'm a Graphic Designer and Photographer and every time I changed phones always searched the best photo/display devices. Three years ago I did an exhibition with 90% of the photos took on LG G4 (printed at 40*30cm) and people didn't believe the photos were took with a smartphone. I mean the guys know their business about image quality, who don't accept it should just shut up.

I can't wrap my head around your Ringke case with the condom-shaped reservoir-tip camera/flash cutout. I went with the Spigen Liquid Crystal case instead.

I know this is a 1 year old video, but I got this phone in 2020 for 80 bucks used. It has it flaws such as slightly hairline crack and image burns, but there the trade off I get for 80 bucks with the battery overall healrh at 92%, based on Accubattery.
I use the phone mostly on high demanding games, where it couldn't run on my old LG stylos 3 plus.
Games such as 7 deadly sins, grand cross and black desert mobile.
I had to come up with idea to reduce battery drain. I discover battery saver set at maximum and set brightness to 5% allow me to get 6 hours of game time.
I use an app call Blackr to go into screensaver mode as I auto farm.
I cringe when I see people set their brightness at maximum while the speaker phone the wrong way and then complains about battery life.
I heard you gotta speak directly to the ear speaker area for speaker phone user if you wanna let other hear ya.

I also have trouble with the speakerphone. I'm also hard of hearing so I have trouble hearing other people as well as other people hearing me. I also have a problem with the sound quality listening to the music. I don't want to run around wearing a headset all the time. From what I understand that's the best way to get the sound. I just can't see myself doing it that way.

I've watched your LTR review of lg v40 thinq and you described its' battery life similar to g8's. I know, inside the v40, battery is even smaller, so from your experience, how do they compare?

The battery life, in my usage, is about the same. Both can last an entire day without issue when on 1080 but when on 1440, they both can't last the whole day. Only thing I can come up with is that LGs oled panels use a lot of battery. To be fair, when I had the note 9, that couldn't last an entire day on 1440 either. I also never turn wifi on and use my phone constantly, so others who aren't power users might get much better results.

I want that LG V50 but LG won't give us the second screen case in the US. That would of been a great thing to have and would sell here with people glamouring over foldable phones. LG is missing an opportunity here with Samsung foldable being delayed. They could of cash in. LG and it's CEO are idiots.
My LG 40 battery last all day at 1440.
@14:46 I don't think LG invented the "knock-on" feature to awake the phone. I remember using it the first time with Nokia Lumia back in the Windows Mobile days 😉
After all, LG invented many things that they didn't get the credit for. But when others replicate and advertise it, the world goes crazy about it.

Currently, I have a G6+...and I need a new phone as every 2years the provider here allows one to renew the contract and also buying a new phone at a very good price. Therefore I intend to get either a LG G8 or V50 . what would you recommend
haven't played with the v50, not available for my carrier. if you want a larger display, go for the v50. otherwise, the g8 is awesome
Both phones are great. If u go out alot and want a small device that fit your pocket, pick the G8. If u want gaming and dual screen, V50 to go.
I don't understand. I'm having a hard time not getting this to last less than 2 days, easily. Granted, I don't likely do nearly as much on my phone, but I always get 2 full days out of this thing, with texting, phone calls, brightness AND resolution all the way up, listening to music, browsing and some video.
Thinking of going from a lg g6 to a g8 or a v40 I can afford either which one should i choose?

The LG G8' s standard lens will take 12 MP shots only if it is half screen. If we make the display full screen, the resolution of the camera is down to 7.7 MP. People prefer to take full screen shots, however unfortunately, it is only 7.7 MP. If you choose 12 MP as camera's resolution, then the full screen will be turned off and most probably, you would not like a half screen photos. Half screen is good if you are taking portraits. For landscapes, everyone prefers full screen.
Similarly, the wide angle lens is only 10 MP if you choose full screen option. If you need 16 MP, the screen will be reduced to almost half, which then is not wide angle at all.
I do not know why LG did this. Even the LG G4 and G5 phones had 16 MP cameras and I believe that the resolution did not change even when it was full screen. I am really disappointed with what LG did with G8's camera.
Another problem is the charging time. It says it is Type-C fast charging. In fact, the charging is very slow. It takes 2.5 hrs to charge from 30%- 100%.
If your phone takes 2.5hrs to charge something is wrong with your cable, power adapter or phone. Unless you're using wireless charging
@@TheJabberTech At first, I also thought the same. Therefore, I returned my first phone and got another one from the store. It also has the same problem. It means the problem is not of the phone. MY G5 used to take only 50-55 mnts to charge from 30%-100%, which also was Type-C fast charging. G5 was 2800 mah and G8 is 3500 mah. But 2.5 hrs is too much.
Look in your menu under battery. They have an adaptive battery mode for protecting battery life that you may want to turn off. I leave it on since I charge overnight.

I purchased this phone and now the messaging comes in multiple times. Is there different app besides the preloaded messages app that will work better? I see with searching online this has been an issue with the 7 also.

Btwn those two.the g8 wins ,hands down ,much better screen quality,better form factor,cool crystal sound and newer processor (even though in day to day use,I don't notice any speed difference) .I only wish the g8 had the telephoto lens,not for portrait shots ,but for better zoom

bitching about the minutiae when there isn't one single perfect phone out there, especially in regards to the camera, is just more parroting and hating on LG. No phone is worth a grand but LG is doing a top job keeping up with the others. MY ONLY GRIPE is battery. No reason they can't get a 4k mAh battery in there. Sound quality especially with the DAC is the best of the best. manual camera controls are top. screen quality is on par with the best. the touchless hand controls aren't difficult if you practice getting it right. the LG G8 is a solid 8.5 out of 10 for me.
