„You need to maintain integrity of the shaft“ ... innocent (cough cough) smile 😂
LOL!
What a wonderful breath of fresh air you are🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻😂😂 I’m from South Dakota in the United States, but was raised in California, where they have been flushing money down a high speed rail project bottomless pit for decades, they even put so much money in at times that they plug it up. Thank goodness my curiosity got the better of me after seeing you on CZcams on GBNews. You are a world class comedian!!!
Wow! Thank you so so much!! Thank you for watching 😁
What an informatively hilarious video!
Reminds me of British scientist Geoffrey Pyke. During WW2, he proposed building aircraft carriers out of blocks of ice, since the Allies were somewhat short of more conventional carriers. Churchill was actually quite intrigued by the idea, though it ended up being dropped when it was realized that building ice carriers was more expensive, and not so effective in warmer climates. Later, Pyke proposed moving troops and cargo underwater and over difficult terrain through tubes. The tubes were to be pressurized, and men and equipment would be whisked away with brisk efficiency. Now, Pyke knew such a trip might be mildly traumatizing for soldiers, so he suggested knocking them out with barbiturates. What a visionary!
Thanks again for the laughs, Diane.
WOW. Okay, erm was Geoffrey Pyke missing a bit of empathy for his fellow man perhaps?! LOL! "If it's traumatic we'll just knock them out" yeah no cool cool cool cool cool...
Well, Pyke committed suicide shortly after the war. Overdosed on barbiturates. So I don't think he was what you'd call well adjusted. Fun fact: Geoffrey's cousin was Magnus Pyke, also a scientist and television presenter. He's the voice on Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science" shouting "SCIENCE!"
Very funny. Thanks so much. Great giggle on an otherwise dull monday afternoon. :)
Wonderful :)
How wonderful, the projectile vomit from the hard acceleration induced motion sickness will soak the walls, floors and windows. All that stomach acid rotting the metal work, working into every tiny crack and then pop! Passengers ruptured and the chamber is filled with low pressure farts.
Cynicism aside, the engineering required is wonderful. A rapid decompression of the pod would be a worry, with injuries similar to those of divers returning to the surface to soon or even Brunel's engineers who worked in compressed air spaces before they understood the dangers of compressed gasses. I imagine the expense will make the journey fairly exclusive too. At least they won't have to worry too much about fire!
Thank you for another fabulous video Diane.
I love how you speak Jayneflakes, you're so elegant with your words - I mean, obvs cos you're a writer, but it's a delight to see you. :)
Always great to see Diane so funny, just love the lady.
Hi David! I am currently writing the new show you'll be glad to hear. 💕
I would love to see Diane to do more of this type of video.
I am so happy you said this! I've been having a real think over whether to do anymore of these, because I got a few bits of feedback from people who were like "meh... I can take or leave the sciency stuff", so to hear you really enjoy it, is great!

I love People Collider!!!
The sun shine through my screen… nooo that’s Diane!!! Hello Love! Good to see and hear from you!!!!!
LOL! Hi Simeon :D
Simply brilliant job explaining how this concept is mental.
Thank you so much. Interesting to note that the California hyperloop has been dismantled and is now a car park. Also Virgin withdrew their name from the Hyperloop, so it is back to Hyperloop One, they fired half their staff and they are now working on cargo... it's almost like they worked out making it work safely for people was going to be an issue.
Thank you for this, Diane. I'm always grateful for belly-laughs.
Enjoyed the graphics, the editing, the works. Great stuff!
Thank you Urgelt! I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I love making the graphics and animations too. It becomes a real project, a real obsession for me each time, and that it is appreciated is just wonderful, so thank you.
Thank you again I watch past videos to brighten me day Diane !!!
I'm delighted :)
You haven't let me down. Wonderfully filthy. Welcome back.
Thank you kevgermany - lovely to be here :)
Political and technology news needs to be delivered by you all the time!
Thank you Greg!
I can't wait to try it!!
You have just filled a vacancy in my reality. I understand that the hyperloop is at least half hype (It could never, ever be economically viable) But you are the first person I have ever heard answer the question "Where TF is the loop?" _There is no loop!_ I'm getting so many blasts of reality lately that it's hard to keep up, but thanks for your contribution.
Wow! You're having some kind of enlightenment or awakening it sounds like Michael! I hope you're okay dealing with these constant blasts of reality. I appreciate what you mean.
Comedy genius. Loving your straight face after "....integrity of the shaft." 7:25
Thank you!
In the beginning I was really anxious you would support this stupid idea. But you did not disappoint! Very funny.
I try to play devil's advocate :) I think as a comedian, it's important to prick the pomposity, bring the king down to the level of the beggar etc. And all the hype for this thing is just insane... it will be a modern miracle if they pull it off, and hopefully the R&D will contribute a lot to other areas of science, so I wish them well. I just don't fancy travelling in it just yet or seeing two huge pipes outside my window!
The funnel illustration XD
Di is back! Proof that 2021 is going to be a good year! I am sure the 3 dislikes are from ppl who could not maintain the integrity of the shaft. How you managed to say that with a straight face is beyond me. Great video!
Hi Thomas! Thank you - lol! Don't worry about the dislikes, not everyone likes the same thing, and that's what makes the world vibrant and wonderful :) I have to say many things with a straight... slightly smirky face XD
Great vid, Diane!!! Full of info, charm, and wit!!!
Thank you so much Joe :)
I'd like one and a child on the "whizzy death can" please.
LOL! I'm banking on Elon Musk/Branson having a sense of humour!
(nods) Good Luck!
Elon does - he publishes "blooper reels" of his rockets crashing on CZcams & he builds/tests/wrecks them in full public view along Highway 4 in South Texas (lookup NasaSpaceflight's CZcams Channel as an example).
Branson? Like Lord Bezos, he only seems to be able to (smugly) laugh at others.
Just brilliant!
LOL!! Thanks Dan :)
Glad to see ya back, hope y'all are staying warmer than we are here in Minnesota👍😎
Thank you Glem, I am a very cold person as it happens! So I am wrapped in blankets, and I don't think I could even live in Minnesota! I would never leave the house lol!
Oh I can watch you all day. Just delightful.
Thank you so much Mad William Flint!
@@DianeSpencercomedian No no thank you. I've been watching you for years. You've funny as hell with the added virtue of actually cracking yourself up. And what kind of internet creep would I be if I didn't add "and holy hell are you easy to look at."
Informative and very funny! More, please!
She's back! 👍 Perfect presentation! When you showed the "common peoples" behavior i was thinking about them "group jumping" because of course somone would try and 4" is not that big a distance...
About the dangers when the capsule might get a leak:
There's something i remember reading from the guys flying so high up that they needed space suits (in the SR71 Blackbird for example): in those heights wihtout the pressure suits the fluids in mouth and lungs would immediately boil! Water boils at exact 100°C, but only at sea level, if you go up to higher altitudes it boils at lower temperatures because of lower air pressure. Same would be true here i guess.
WOW! I did not know that about the boiling point. I did have an outtake where I'm pretending to be someone jumping up and down to make the pod touch the rail!! I think you might be psychic nirfz XD
The graphics ... and you, were amazing. Love this. Worth waiting for. Welcome back Di.
Thank you so much Tommie - v. happy you enjoyed it! :)
This is genuinely hilarious... oh and informative. Love this format for these news stories and world “events”!
Thank you very much Scott!
Best of the best.
Fantastic!
Thank you!
This is amazing!! Nobody can make me laugh like you Diane 😂😂😂😂 Exquisite Bad Taste is my favorite go to laugh till I cry comedy special. I am sending this to everyone I know!
Hell yes!!! Thank you so much Rtomera!! I appreciate you sharing my work!
With apologies, but my brain can't stop me from mentioning that if there was a hole in the pod, the air inside (at one atmosphere pressure) would push the air in the pod out, but there would not be any wind sucking going on. If the hole was small, you could stop the leak with your finger, as one of the astronauts had to do on the ISS when that developed an air leak (alarmingly probably due to a micrometeorite hitting the station). They fixed that with (probably high-tech) duct tape and a patch. A larger tear would be, of course, a serious problem - but there are mechanisms designed to restore air quickly to the tube. This doesn't mean the hyperloop is a good idea or won't be prone to other risks that you mentioned (and others that you didn't) and I love your content. Thank you for your tolerance in allowing me to get this thought out of my head.
Ha! No problem :) Glad you enjoyed the video!
Gorge and wicked 😂
Thank you for this informative and hilarious video. I loved it!
Thank you so much :)
Amazingly funny, amazing production and totterific too.
LOL! Thank you James! Really happy you like the production, I love making wonky cartoons
"nob rotted" classic :)
LOL! I think it must be in my genes... (ugh XD)
07:25 is why I love you, the smirk at the end is hilarious
Brilliant approach to a interesting topic, well done!
Thank you very much der Sulo!
Thanks for a good laugh 😁👏
Glad you enjoyed it :)
I thought the name ‘Tube Pounder’ seems cool! 😅 Great to have you back, love the format!
Hahahhahhaah!! I like it
Top tier reporting!!!
Lol! Thank you!
For a lady who is known for comedy, ok, really good filthy comedy, I found this highly entertaining, technically very correct and rather refreshing.
I'd be concerned about the pod leaking, exploding humams, but it could be good for fast transit goods. Amazon loop.
Wonderful! Thank you very much Simon, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Whilst I can't get onstage, I'm making these fun little videos about things that catch my eye in the news. I think Amazon Loop (or line, as there is no loop!) would be good.
Shockingly erudite! And huge fun.
Thank you!
you are amazingly funny, thank you!
Thank you very much! I hope you get to see some more of my channel :)
Some of the graphics were pleasingly Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy-esque and the alien pub crawl was delightlfully silly. :-)
Thank you very much! I'm a big fan of those 2D low fi graphics, I just love that retro sci fi stuff, which is lucky cos I haven't advanced to CGI dinosaur yet :)
Trillian: "Quick, everyone onto the hypertube!'
Zaphod: "Damn woman, I just gave you sweet lovin' five minutes ago. What you tryna do, kill me?"
The horse fart, 🤣
Just refreshing. Thx.
Wonderful to hear, thank you :)
@@DianeSpencercomedian my pleasure.
Diane does science! This is awesome! Hope you're OK! Can't wait to see you live again! ❤ (that's live in person, at a show, not like a zombie...)
LOL! Maybe we should spell it "lyve" or something...
Hiya for some reason you haven't shown up in my notifications for a while iv just watched afew of your videos and I'd forgotten about your wicked sense of humour it's great and that you are bloody beautiful keep up the great work
Thank you ever so much Alex! I haven't been churning out content, as I do like to find the story/write script etc so it all takes time, but I'm so glad you found me again!
hey it's been a while! great to see you again! also, between all the silliness, you did make a few good points too!
Hey! Thanks, yeah, pandemic bleurgh stuff. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hope you and the fella have been safe. Glad to see you back at it!
Thanks Samuel - yeah, we're all good :) Got to do something until they open our beloved comedy clubs again!
An incredible video, I am absolutely showing it on my English lesson on the Uni, as it has the perfect vibe. Bravo)
Haha - how wonderful!! Well, I hope the people in class enjoy it :)
6:35 Are we just pretending to not notice the clouds. Thanks for keeping us laughing
What... they're just clouds Phil...
Love the new format!
Thank you!
"Like two women wearing the same dress!" LOL I missed you!
Lol! Thanks Mike :)
Fantastic Diane, if they ever bring back Tomorrow's World, please use this vid as your audition for a presenter job! 😁Cant wait to see you live. 👍🏼
Thank you Tony! Tomorrow's World - can you imagine... I'm not sure they would appreciate how I draw clouds...
This is great. Funny, engaging and superb production values. A lot of other comedians could learn a lot from watching this.
Thank you so much Peter! I do like pottering around with my graphics :D
Informative and funny. Subscribed.
How wonderful, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Thunderf00t loves de-bunking the Hyperloop, have a look at his channel.
It only takes 9 minutes to get to Birmingham, plus the time it takes to depressurize the intermediate chamber to the same pressure as the main tunnel/tube, then pressurize a chamber at the other end. Because you can't just open the tube and destroy the medium vacuum inside, then the pressure wave would not be good for anyone inside a pod, inside the tube.
Thanks John! I have see a Thunderf00t video, he certainly hates the loop! You make an excellent point about the depresssurizing time!!!
This is how I'm taking my science facts from now on. Super cool graphics by the way.
Thank you very much Kadir :D
I like the way your mind works . It's good .
Thank you - that is a lovely thing to hear :)
@@DianeSpencercomedian good .

Missed you too lovely
@7:30 Diane realizing she made an unintentional innuendo. Lol!!!
Oh no my dear... oh no... nothing unintentional about that ;)
@@DianeSpencercomedian Lmao!!! My apologies Miss Diane. What was I thinking? ;)
Wonderful lady.
I used to play bass in Wizzy Deathcan back in the '90s in Manchester.
LOL!
I am really happy with this new content. I hope you will make more like this. It was funny and you nailed what Tom Nicholas called the 'Fake Futurism of Elon Musk'. The Hyperloop is not for 'normal people'. It's for the rich. Like the train in Hunger Games. A fast luxurious mode of transport unattainable for the masses who actually are doing all the meaningful jobs.
The transport of the future is ... the bicycle.
Thank you so much Bertrand! That is the main thing I get from the hyperloop, it is certainly not for the actual public, cos I know the public, I'm one of them, and we're not always reliable! That sounds like an interesting article by Tom Nicholas, I will look that up - thank you!
Re: England being full of underground remains. True story - in Leicester, there used to be a famous - nay, almost legendary! - music pub called the Princess Charlotte, which is now a Korean supermarket (also true, but not the point of the story). Back in the 90s, they closed for redevelopment for a while, and that while became a long while after they dug down under the dance floor and found a cemetery full of Roman soldiers. Yup, all those countless happy evenings I'd spent down at the Charlotte moshing my brains out to hardcore punk bands, we were literally dancing on the graves of people who'd died a long way from home.
Wow, that is an epic story. Yikes. As soon as you said Leicester, I went straight to dead king in car park! You know... the classic XD
@@DianeSpencercomedian Yeah, that car park (as it was, it's now a sort of plaza) is not far from the Charlotte - lots of history under the ground in that part of Leicester. There's also a Roman temple of Diana under the shopping centre on High Street!
Good lord your channel deserves 31 million subs, good heavens the production value.
You are so kind Bibbly. I love making the graphics, once the idea settles in my mind, I love working out how to bring it to life and that you notice and appreciate it, just fills me with joy. In fact, I will post in the community tab, one of the more detailed pictures - just for peeps to look at!
Thank you, thank you for this. It is so necessary for people to hear this. The Hyperloop is the most dumbcock of an idea for public transport since Elon Musk suggested using a tiny sub to rescue a bunch of boys from a crammed cave in Thailand.
Liking something to come to existence from your imagination doesn't mean it is practical nor sensible. Musk is certainly no Arthur C Clarke, a celebrated sci-fi writer who is both grounded in science and common sensibility. Clarke envisioned GEO satellites and co-invented the aqualung (scuba diving).
What a wonderfully erudite comment, thank you. :)
I wanna keep all the Amtrak all year and every year.
See, education AND filth. Girl, you will always be my spirit animal 😁 love you sooooooo much

Love the graphics! Really helped me understand. Us aliens appreciate the hard work, all 4 inches.
Hahahahahahha!!! Thank you. I'm so happy you like the graphics, I really enjoy making them.
Too good!
That was fantastic! Gosh, even if you pay me, I wouldn't go in that thing! 😅
So glad you enjoyed the video! The more I learnt about it, the more of an intense engineering feat it's going to be if they pull it off!
OMG Di you're back! Thank you so much!! Very entertaining video and SO instructive, cheers!
1:46 haha, not just the British public I promise
4:17 there are loads of them in the City, want to visit one? And this is no euphemism or death threat btw 😂
7:30 had not seen this pun coming! And that smirk 😂😂😂
9:47 this looks like a tampon or is that just me?
OMG... OMG... it does look like a tampon... oh dear... XD!!!! Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Diane, you are a delightful integrity maintainer.
LOL!
I love it
Thank you Pierre-Luc!
Grime and filth are the least of my worries. Given the deadly dangers of decompression, one had better hope that maintenance on the Hyperloop is not as lacking as it is on the metro. A catastrophic in-transit seal break, even on a 9 minute commute would put off the public on this mode of transport. Perhaps they're planning to issue space suits? I think I'll stick with riding my horse.
Cyborg horse??
As a Yank, I have no opinion on the HyperTube, although it does sound a bit like a fresh tart. But your hair and makeup look amazing!
I think there are 11 proposed hyperpoop lines for the States! Get your opinion fired up Ric :)
And this Diane is why we love you!
When are you and good Sir going to be doing another live stream??
Hi Charlie! Thank you. WELL... Sir is currently engaged in DIY, our entire set up has been shifted around, so not for a while I'm afraid. Kev is also going to make his next video, which I am very excited about!
Dianne, we missed you
Thank you!
Good job, as always from you! :) Those hyperloop animations reminded me to the ones from Monty Python's Flying Circus. Influence taken, perhaps? :)
Ha! Funnily enough I was never a fan of the Month Python animations. The whole flying circus was before my time, but I did love the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy animations, which really comes through in the hyperloop toilet entry bit XD
Thanks Diane very well done, love your work, Your great presentation has just exposed the obvious conclusion to the hyper loop development.
Its not being designed for an atmosphere of 101 kpa, or for a global population. But it would work well on the moon or Mars.
Its the same with the whole renewable energy thing, It really doesn't make any sense unless you look at it in a context of, that there is no fossil fuel. IE there is no plant life on this planet.
If you look at it as a global push to develop technologies to get us off the planet it starts to make sense.
Thank you - I am so happy you like my work! Speaking exclusively about the hyperloop, I agree that this is an idea that would work brilliantly on Mars, which was what sparked the alien rant at the end :)
Ever heard of lay lines. We should be travelling down those by radio waves in special floating pods
Yes, I don't quite understand them. Are they magnetic?
@@DianeSpencercomedian I think you need a pointy hat & a long black dress to "feel" the vibes of the lines. A bit of moon beam helps light them up. Your Ginger white face with blackened eyelashes would be Ok but obviously the hair might be an issue. Sorry about that!! Perhaps a bare chest might make up for it, to keep people's eyes off the embarrassing bit on top. On second thoughts- perhaps not !!!! do not want to end up as a sacrifice
That was terrifiyingly funny. Well done Miss Spencer. Bravo junge Dame, Bravo!
"terrifyingly funny" is my favourite reaction so far! Thank you Raze!

I just watched Noob and wanted to say, I was a stand up addict from the '70s to early '90s (it was Carlin's fault) so from grade school through my early career. Even while everything got worse and worse, there were always those brilliant people who could flip it and make me see that as long as you can laugh, it wasn't nearly so bad as it was absurd. Then sometime in the '90s the brilliant funny people were replaced with mean, cynical, and manipulative.
I can admire Seinfeld's craftsmanship, or Foxworthy's fake humility, but the funny seems to have got lost in the marketing.
I think you're the real deal and I'm so happy to have found you.
Thank you ever so much Rick. I don't think humour has to be mean or manipulative either. I love being silly! It's such a joy. I'm glad you enjoyed Noob and this mad video :)
Anybody who put their money on 7:25 for unmistakable Innuendo a la Diane wins. Includes facial clues for the ones watching early in the morning or late at night.
They should hire you for doing the PooP (Pointing out obvious Problems) for the human paste tube. Most excellent visuals in the proud vein of The Pythons of Monty btw. Very good to see your visage back in the Hallowed Halls of the Tube of You. All the best to You, Kevin, C3PO and Keith.
LOL! Thank you so much Lui :D Perhaps next time we can do an innuendo time stamp sweepstakes? I'm so happy you like the visuals! With the lack of live comedy gigs, I am really getting into my graphics :) Thank you for being a part of this.
@@DianeSpencercomedian I am not entirely sure how that work with the time stamp sweepstakes ... But I'm in :D.
Damn, Diane you going back out on tour? Not that I’m likely to fly to the UK but at least I’d like to know you’re back in business. Don’t make me re-create a Twitter account just so I can follow you… I had to give that up. You are truly funny and deserve to be back in front of an audience.
Thanks Jim - the gigs are coming back! I've actually been able to perform in front of real people which has just been incredible, so I'm slowly working up the new show. The gigs are few and far between, but they are steadily increasing in number as restrictions are lifted in the UK. I am so so so excited to be getting back to it. Thank you for being so supportive.
