  • How good can an under £50 ESC and Motor combo really be? Well, first we've got to make sure it's worth it in terms of weight and then we can give it a test drive. This is only part 1 but I was really surprised ...

    I used the same electrics in my crawler. The ESC was garbage and burst into flames, but the surpass motor is absolutely amazing, especially for £15! I've now got the Hobbywing SCT ESC, which is perfect for crawling at 3S.

    Does anyone know why these motors make that loud whistle sound? I'm trying to figure out how to mitigate it. Please let me know if you have a method!

    • @JustScalin
      @JustScalin  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s the way the ESC controls the motor. The noise is a by product of the ESC trying to detect back electromagnetic force which indicates where the motors rotation is at. It’s common for all non-sensored motors, but worse in outrunners as the noise leaks out the open shell

    • @waynefilkins8394
      @waynefilkins8394 Před 3 lety +1

      @@JustScalin Is it an important function for it to know where it's at? I mean it's not like a servo or anything so idk why they do this...any idea how to stop it or do i just have to cover it up to mitigate?

    • @JustScalin

      Do you think it's more safe with a 120A or a great expensive 60/80A.
      For the motor I will try with a very slow 1100kv.

    • @JustScalin
