@@KaladinVegapunk I’ll try and be as base level and unbiased as possible. Dave Meltzer runs the Wrestling Observer. A former irl newsletter but now it’s just online. Where he details stuff going on in the wrestling community. In the 80’s he started reviewing matches on a star scale. This was meant to be a 1-5 scale. But as years have gone on he’s continuously gone off the scale forwards or backwards. A lot of people believe it should stay 1-5 for fairness, etc. But (and this is where I’ll be a little biased lmao) he also is just weirdly stingy with 5 stars anywhere but NJPW, for instance. KURT ANGLE. Has 0 5 Star Matches. Not in WWE, NOT EVEN IN TNA! (Where he arguably did his best in ring work.) Obviously it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things but it’s just wild how the dude is so weird with his ratings.

Funnily enough, they had a match at Battleground in 2013 for the IC championship, and that match was actually not too bad. Nothing spectacular dont get me wrong, but it was decent.
No surprise Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan from WrestleMania 28 is on this list. That match didn’t even last a minute. LOL
It was barely a match and more of an 18 second squash😅
The American Dragon and The Celtic Warrior deserved better in that match.
And creative wanted to run it back again at WM 30 until us fans forced them to change their minds.
That match played a huge factor in the yes movement though

That Alexa and Bayley feud single handedly killed the hugger character that and that atrocius and awful 'This is your life segment'
Bayley and Alexa did good with what they were given, as they were great as both an optimistic face and a savage heel respectively, but WWE themselves were responsible for ruining the potential, as they handled the booking, and the creative ideas VERY poorly. They may not be the best in the world, but Alexa and Bayley are competent performers who regularly have good matches, and good characters to connect with the audience. Both women should’ve been treated better in this feud.
To make matters even worse, the infamous “Bayley, This Is Your Life” segment took place in my home state and everyone in Greenville got severely offended by the segment, due to how dehumanizing it was.

@@cadillacjohn1994Even Kurt Angle during a later Raw broadcast called it one of the absolute worst things he had ever seen in his entire career. It was unprofessional, selfish, and I still think WWE should’ve apologized to the people of South Carolina for having to witness a terrible tragedy like the aforementioned segment. I would write:
“One behalf of WWE, we would like to sincerely apologize to the people of South Carolina who may have been severely offended by the segment involving Alexa Bliss and Bayley during a recent broadcast of Raw that could’ve easily construed as disrespect for the state of South Carolina, its flag, and cultures alike.”

Bayley & Alexa Bliss feud was forgettable at best . It ruined Bayley's babyface momentum in awful way
The match damn near buried Bayley.. She had no choice but to go heel which saved her career..
I’m pretty sure a match is so bad Meltzer gives it minus stars.
But my thoughts on the list:
10. If they did a regular match, I think it would’ve been a little bit better.
9. A baby face who has no idea on how to use a weapon.
8. 2 minutes……what was the point?
7. This was a pre taped match. However, the storytelling was good though.

4. The stupidest decision ever. (And then he won it one more time in 2020 which was a horrible decision.)
3. Although it was a bad choice (or at least the way Daniel lost it), Daniel got even more over and Vince did everything to ruin him but this made him get him even more over.

I still remember that Bliss vs Bayley match and was ATROCIOUS. Weeks of Bayley not being able to hit Bliss with the kendo stick because she was so pure and kind. Everybody would’ve thought the climax of the match would be Bayley finally bursting into Bliss with the kendo stick, but no, she still couldn’t hit her and she lost because of that. Perfect example of WWE making babyfaces act like fools instead of good people. Worst match I’ve ever witnessed for sure.
I didn’t award the match zero stars. I flabbergasted the match with a rating even worse than zero. Minus four and a half stars.
Ronda Rousey vs Shayna Baszler was so boring it deserved zero

The two had good in ring chemistry too, and could’ve offered us a better bout as a regular singles match, but WWE didn’t go with that route, and the match itself was really just a way to say goodbye to Ronda, so they could move on.

LMAO I forgot that jack swagger was world heavyweight champion in 2010 on smackdown I'm glad kane had a better title reign than jack did and the best match at Armageddon 2002 was Victoria vs Trish stratus vs Jacqueline that era of women's wrestling prior to Johnny Ace hiring swimsuit models needs to be talked about more often.

Braun Strowman vs Bray Wyatt MITB 2020 match was lackluster
I can't take his list serious at all when Kurt Angle has no 5 star matches that alone gives his list no legitimacy
I actually gave his match with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 a five star rating.

I only saw him fight once, but during his storyline he would pop up randomly eating worms and me and my friends were all like "Woah! Look at him! He looks super creepy! And he's huge! OMG look how scared his opponents are! They are shaking in their boots!"
Alas once he wrestled he was just another guy, we had hoped he would spit evil spirits or have a cool signature weapon in his bag of tricks
Basically any Goldberg's 2 minutes match in his last run
Goldberg was "The ultimate wrestler" back when I was a kid, his opponents would strike him with hammers as his eyes spun like a slot machine, he would shake his head and keep wrestling like nothing, and we were all like "No wonder the guy smacks his head on a wall and bathes in fireworks just for fun!" while me and my friends were all shocked he didn't just tank Kevin Nash's spree ending taser, and who could forget his jackhammer where he lifted his opponent like nothing
When he came back he was skinny and his giant back was gone, moreso he needed help from his opponent as they would charge against him so he got momentum for his jackhammer as you saw he baaaaarely got his opponent up in the air before gently dropping them rather than slamming them against the ground
Sad to say, Goldberg left a Legend and came back as a overhyped nobody, I love golden era Goldberg but he should never have returned

A lot of squash matches should get a zero rating. One that comes to mind is Brock vs Kofi. A squash match that didn't make sense. Especially since it was a championship match.

I can actually rate matches better than that. For instance, no women’s match in WWE ever got a perfect five star rating from him, but there is actually one that I rated a PERFECT five stars. One notable example being a WrestleMania 38 match between Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch.

For me, watching my two favourites compete (Batista & Kane) at a time when Batista was built like a tank and Kane being masked is automatically a 5 star for me. I know this doesn’t meet the criteria though.

Oldberg burying Kevin Owens to win Universal title totally made no sense
They could’ve avoided this by having Jericho win from Owens at Mania, and then have Lesnar win the Universal title at another ppv event down the road, after he spends Mania destroying OLDberg in a regular singles bout.
The Seth Rollins/Fiend HIAC match should be on this list too. I could have booked a more sensical ending to that match.

I've seen it live back in the day it actually wasn't that bad. Kane was so over in 2002 that the crowd didn't like anyone who beats him.

The Boogeyman was always one of my favorite as a kid, he was genuinely scary and tall, also when the first time I saw a guy eat worms on the stage and his opponents hugged each other in fear I was like "Woaaaah! I have no idea who he is, but he's my favorite! Also he's so big and muscly!"
In the ring he was kinda mediocre, I expected the guy to pull out magic from his sack or spit evil spirits on his opponent, alas he was an experience

Who cares about Meltzer's opinion some of the star ratings he gave AEW matches are a joke. Especially all the four and five stars he gave mediocre matches.
