Btw, I’ve seen people grab an air compressor and blow the thing you used a small hand vacuum for, but I think using the air compressor blows the dust into the back of the system right?
Air compressors are useful in many situations but I'd personally avoid it in such situations. With no offense, the air compressor in this situation is the "lazy way" of partially solving the problem. Yes, it blows the dust all around including in other parts of your console. Thank you!
Not necessarily, If you use an air compressor with a vacuum nearby it will minimize the amount of dust flying back into the console

It's very cool to clean ps4 fan without need to open the entire console and breaking the guarantee cover at the back. It shows sony's brilliant engineering.

To those who struggles on removing the black rivet, try using a nail cutter/clipper, just trim it after to make the cut more clean looking. 😉

@@HoboJoe11 the only way to remove the cover is to cut the black plastic rivets unlike the past models where they used screws. I guess sony doesnt want us to clean our own systems. 🥲

Bro you are the biggest life saver ever! My ps4 recently started crashing rather each time I turned it on or off and I figured it was the fan not being able to well…fan, I opened it up I uncovered a whole mine down there. Cleaned it up and no more crashing amazing video!

We finally broke the plastic welds today after years of wondering why Sony ruined my ps4! When we opened it we pulled out some fibers and seriously questioned if the fan has a filter! We thought we broke it and had to replace it, the dirt was THAT THICK!
I've had my PS4 since 2017 and never had a maintenance check until today, when all of my games would just take too long to load games or load things ingame. This might not fix the main issue I have with my PS4 at the moment, but I think it'll make things much more bearable, and for that I thank you so much.

I would just like to add... in order to remove the metal plate more easily, it is better to unscrew the power supply and lift it slightly...

For the fan cleaning,you have to put the earbud between the fan and if you have compressed air just spray it out!

Great easy video. I will say watch out for the little spring that attaches in the back that allows for your disks to be inserted. I’m not sure what’s it’s technically called but mine came off and I had to figure that out lol.

Thanks dude ! When my brother is playing GTA5 Its soo LOUD! And im like “uhhhmmm can u stop playing for a bit because it sounds like a turbine engine!!!” I did it though! With some cuts on my hand because im actually 12 and we don’t have a good, small knife like urs so i had to use our big Chinese big kitchen knife 🔪 to pry out the thing but eventually I GOT IT! Now im testing it and it sounds wayy better TY!
Good thing I never let my PS4 get too dusty to be affected badly with the fan. I also bought a AC Infinity 80mm Fan to place behind my PS4 to keep it cool while gaming long term. The internal fan never kicks in high gear either. Definitely recommend getting one.

This is the best video on PS4 cleaning because its super beginner friendly and easy to follow. Others i watched tear the console down in 50 separated pieces which is very risky to do if u are noob. Also cleaning the fan and that metal part is the most imporant part anyways, i did it for 3 different PS4 and they all went from loud and hot to silent and cool.

Apparently, the plastic rivets don't need to be cut out. I found that out in another video. Cutting them seemed off to me too.

Any issues with the black pieces, carefully use a utility or thin blade knife. If you scratch the aluminum a tiny bit, don’t worry. And make sure to cut away from yourself!

When it comes to the metal plating do you just shove it back in or is there a way to set it in place?
So far this video has been helpful (surprisingly, I didn't have to cut the plastic rivets, the plating just popped out.
I'll say this, the same way you got it off is the same way you put it back on

if you are struggling get the plate on, then get the power supply out (its not hard) search it up

Getting that metal plate off is a pain in the ass, lol. But I just finished about 15 minutes ago. Had to go to the store, get the screwdriver and stuff but I think its good now? The reason I had to do this was because it was giving me a "too hot" screen every 10 minutes suddenly and shutting off. Had to do something. Was a little worried I'd break it, lol but you helped a lot and I'm gonna start cleaning my ps4 like once a month. Haven't cleaned it since I got it and that's when it first came out.. 😂 Thanks again, bro! Cheers.

Well, you may be surprised, but after that I played games which requires a lot of resources, especially from a PS4 Slim, games such as The Last of Us, and it was surprisingly silent. At a point I was amazed how silent it can be. In case of problems, even though I didn't experience and never heard of, you can use some small anti vibration pads, but I doubt would be needed. If you take the risk, please share your experience, I'd be happy to hear it. :)
