The Cell Arc in the Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball Z anime was a race to stop not only the Androids from finding Goku, but also Cell from finding the androids. In the hopes of achieving both goals, Goku decides that the Room of Spirit and Time must be utilized to defeat the androids and Cell since they are currently below all of them in terms of power. So as soon as he wakes up - cured of the heart virus that had debilitated him for so long - Goku seeks out not only Gohan, but also someone who he thinks is trying to achieve the same goal - Vegeta. You see, this trip into the Room of Spirit and Time wasn’t just to make them stronger, it was actually a way to further evolve the Super Saiyan form and that was not something Goku came up with. Vegeta had stated his intentions to do so even before Goku had awoken and they each claim that the other will seek to do the same thing. This leads them all to using the Room of Spirit and Time - as well as the Super Saiyan Grades being created and used against Cell due to Vegeta and Trunks going in first, but what if they didn’t. What if Goku and Gohan entered the Room of Spirit and Time first? I'm Carthu of Carthus Dojo and that's today's Dragon Ball What If!

Him not killing Cell in the original and causing Goku's death wasn't enough to get him to that point. It wasn't until Freeza tortured him in DBS that he cared about getting stronger. Until then, he was always able to compete with most threats at any given time. I don't think Gohan would have much change to going for being a scholar over being a fighter, especially since Goku would still be around to deal with any threats. He might train a little bit with Goku still, but he'd probably want to get back to his books.

GreenFantom what I meant was that Gohan realised that his own soft nature allowed cell to get away and almost become perfect which he would want to deal with quickly so that he doesn’t have that happen with future villains
@@GreenFantom Buu saga actually showcased Gohan would be ready to train because he was ready to kill Buu when Buu was sealed but hated himself for neglecting training because he wasnt strong enough. Elder Kai giving Gohan a second chance made him realise the strength he had hidden all along and the natural progression would've been to motivate him to atleast practice enough to prevent the same mistake which happend when he failed in killing Buu(His family and Videl getting killed by Buu). He doesnt need to be the strongest but he does need the strength to protect the people he cares for.
DBS is dumb. Every character developments were thrown away. Just look at Vegeta for example, it's almost the same character again before the ending of the Buu saga. This isnt a natural progression because every characters were fully developed already at the end of Buu saga as fighters. DBS only existed after the flop of DBEvolution, atleast that's what it has been said or it could be money, who knows. But regardless DBS needed to redo some development or you would've a serie with no char development beside becoming a better family man. How many kids would be interested in seeing that?
Heck ignoring the char development, look at how they insanely nerfed Gohan. The Buu saga is 7 years after the Cell saga and Gohan became soft and didnt train during the timeskip. He still managed to go Ssj2, something he just unlocked and most likely didnt master in the timeskip. RoF doesnt take place 7 years after BoG. We know in BoG Gohan was still able to go into his unlocked potential form. Yet he suddenly went from Unlocked Potential to barely going into ssj in like a year while he could go from ssj2 to ssj2 in 7 years when it was said he stopped training during the timeskip?

Most definately, Goku didn’t see what Vegeta unlocked, yet he still reached that state, saw its flaw, and decided to work past it, there’s no reason he wouldn’t surpass it if he went into the chamber first either way.
same with Gohan turning into ssj2 briefly in the Chamber.
Definitely continue this, i like seeing how things play out in these what ifs.
One of my favorite what if's ever so far. I like the cell arc but it always bugged me that almost all the heros made mistakes along the way which led to perfect cell when it easily could have been avoided. Would love a part 2 of this 🙏🔥

Goku would actually be weaker than in the original, because his living body had far more limits than his dead body. Also, because Goku stayed alive, he only had Vegeta and Gohan to train with to make any real gains. So he wouldn't have the excessive time to train because his body would need rest. Also, no Metamooran Fusion, and no meditation to keep a balance of physical and mental training.
Gohan would be far stronger though, as well as Vegeta, because Gohan, when serious, would push Vegeta in ways Goku couldn't.

I feel this wasn’t explored as much as it could be. Semi perfect cell could have knocked out krillen quickly to absorb 18 as he knows krillen flaring his energy would alert gohan and he wouldn’t have another chance. This would make it interesting to see how things would turn out after
Also, buu could definitely be revived since gohans energy (being stronger than canon) but would charge buu more than it did in canon and then the energy they get from Dabura and gohan fighting would add some more. Then realizing that Dabura isn’t a match, babidi could use his magic to escape giving dabura time to heal and then using his energy (sacrificing dabura) to fill the remaining to wake buu. Then you could explore the story further

What if King Cold was revived instead of Frieza, Frieza was arrogant, immature and love toying around, but what about King Cold how would him being revived instead of Frieza affect things, would he even seek revenge or take advantage of this second chance, would he have a new son to replace the failure that was Frieza, so many possibilities
The issue is, is Cold as strong as Freeza? The answer is, in cannon, no. It's been said that Freeza is a mutant of his race and that is why he is so strong. If they revived Cold instead, even if he trained, he'd still realistically be nowhere near the main characters at that time

Plus, as you said before, he could be a way to introduce us to a different son (hello Cooler introduction!), then it might not be King Cold himself who joins in, but Cooler who may have been pushed to test his limits because of Freeza’s Golden form, could possibly not only have his 5th transformation like in the movie, but also his own golden form, possibly thinking he’s surpassed Freeza (but Freeza in reality has his true golden form and is technically stronger), but we would still get a ready to go fighter who is ruthless, but also understands he’s fighting for everything he controls still.
@@D34doneTTV Frieza chose his new form to be Golden, because he was defeated by a super saiyan. If Coola trains and gain a new form, it will probably be a canonised 5th form or a 6th if he had the 5th already. He has no grudge against the super saiyan form specifically.

Great video, the only thing I question is that Trunks and Vegeta had already seen that Goku and Gohan had Super Saiyan grade 4 and they went back in the time chamber and still didn't Master it
Super Saiyan 3 is one of the possible next evolutions of Super Saiyan 2 and it was never said that Super Saiyan 3 needed a special condition to be met in order to be able to achieve the form.
Also, I am pretty sure that Full Power Super Saiyan Son Gohan would have been able to tell if Semi-Perfect Cell had been lying to him or not through the ability to sense Ki.
There are only two Super Saiyan 3 in canon - Goku and Gotenks.
Goku specifically achieved the form in the afterlife, and explicitly stated that SSJ3 was easier to use without a living body; after he was revived, he had a lot of trouble sustaining it at all, and it remains a very energy-inefficient transformation.
Gotenks is a fusion, and it was strongly implied that he burnt off most of the energy of his fused state to unlock the form - note that he de-fused early.
Given that these are the only cases in which SSJ3 was obtained, and both were special circumstances, it's reasonable to assume SSJ3 cannot be obtained by normal means unless proven otherwise.
That being said, Toriyama has stated that SSJ2 and 3 are little more than powered up versions of the base Super Saiyan state, and that with enough training, it would theoretically be possible for a Super Saiyan Grade 4 to be stronger than either of those forms.
I assume that a Saiyan must master Super Saiyan 2 just like Super Saiyan in order to force the strenuous form.
@@UnwantedGhost1 Nah, it's a raw power thing. Neither Goten nor Trunks even knew what Super Saiyan 2 was, but Gotenks was essentially able to skip it and force Super Saiyan 3 since his base power was so high.
You guys think about the "special conditions" of these transfortions way too much. They're just transformations. Anyone with the appropriate ammount of strength can attain these forms through training.

The only difference being that his living body can't sustain the form as well, so I don't see what part of that implies goku only attained the form due to being in the after life. He trained to reach such a form like he always does, there was just the added benefit of not having a mortal body. Goten and trunks saw goku power up to ssj3, and just copied what they saw once they fused and had the appropriate ammount of strength to reach ssj3. The energy that ssj3 requires burning through their fusion has literally nothing to do with how they attained the form.

There's a couple flaws with this What If:
- Vegeta and Trunks wouldn't get Grade 4. Even after seeing the difference between himself and Cell as well as where he stood against Goku, Vegeta still didn't get Grade 4 during the second round of training in the RoSaT.
- Gohan wouldn't reach SS2. As Gohan isn't a fighter, he would never be pushed to the mental breaking point required to reach SS2, nor would Goku try to push him after taking to heart what Piccolo said. There's also a potential chance that Goku and Vegeta don't reach it as well due to never seeing it. Goku trains for 3 years while having SSJ and never considers there is something greater until after noting the difference in power between Vegeta and the Androids. Without Perfect Cell or SS2 Gohan, there's a strong possibility that they would simply train SSJ Grade 4, as with Gohan, there would be no real stimulus to provoke them to reach SS2
- Majin Buu would still be revived. As you yourself put in the "What would Happen if Gohan continued Training" even moderate training sans Goku would likely net him a power level at least twice as strong as he was during the Cell saga. Even while Gohan was dismantling Dabura, Babadi would have more than enough time to release Buu. What's more, without SS3, knowledge of the Fusion Dance (Goku learned while he was dead) or the Potarra, they'd all either be killed by Buu or have to escape using IT to devise a strategy.
Anyway, overall it was a really good What If. Definitely think a mellower Vegeta would be better for everyone lol

Also, Gohan would've not been in tip-top shape since there was no need to go to the Tournament, however, if there was Vegeta/Goku would've still been the strongest fighters on Earth while Gohan would've still been considered since he was able to go SSJ2. Now if Buu was released I think it would've been downhill since I think Supreme Kai and Kibito would've just taken The Saiyan brethren to their planet to train and got the elder kai to help maybe Gohan and Vegeta/Goku would've trained to get stronger while Buu rampaged on Earth. There are so many variables to go over...not enough space or reading time to talk about it.)*

I disagree on the getting ssj2 part. Goku and gohan going first doesn't change what happens in the room. This means that gohan still shows signs of a power even greater than grade 4 in the room. So goku would know about it and aim to achieve it. Gohan was close to getting it in the room but at the time still needed a push to unlock it. With 7 more years to train, with goku being alive, I'm fairly confident that gohan would get it. Maybe he gets it last after goku and vegeta got it since he doesn't have as much motivation, but he still probably gets it. You also forgot that in canon goku got ssj3 without ever seeing the form. There was no way for him to know that a level beyond ssj2 existed, so by your logic, he wouldn't have obtained ssj3
Goku didn’t know about Ssj3 but still achieved it so it’s highly likely he would at minimum get Ssj2

Instead of rejecting his evil side via fision he just trained to control it but that means no King Piccolo and maybe no Piccolo Jr. either (considering Kami can still spawn eggs). So Goku's journey would be almost the same until his meeting with Kami and no King Piccolo saga.

Do what if trunks stayed in the past android saga
Trunks always trains and vegeta would probably be his training partner so they would be strong enough to kill dabura amd babidi before buu is ever set free. Since trunks with his half sayain potiential would be the strongest then he would be chosen as the super sayain god. Trunks then just beats every one and becomes the hero of the story although since goku wasnt revived in the buu saga that could mean no tournament of power so zeno destroys all the universes

Bardock would still fight as a Saiyan, if you saw the special he didn’t want anything to do with any weaklings, he’ll probably train Goku to eventually take over the planet, maybe not destroy, but take over.

Bardock actually cared for Goku and his life, and even had somewhat of a change in his ways before dying. He wouldn’t care about taking over earth or anything. He’d just want his family safe and somewhere to live in peace, but he’d definitely train Goku. And Gine wouldn’t support or let Bardock kill or invade earth, because she’s obviously stronger than all the humans there, but she doesn’t like fights or conflict. She wants what’s best for Goku.

I know my guy Vegeta is a genius but I don’t think he would’ve gotten grade 4. Even in the regular story after witnessing Goku and Gohan coming out in grade 4 he still didn’t attain the form until after the cell games

Yep Gohan letting Cell go makes sense he doesn't like to kill, and it's a good lesson when he faces the same dilemma with Dabura in the Buu Saga. Also group training in the Time-skip with Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Goten, and Trunks was a neat idea. I'm guessing Goku is going to be the SSG like normal unless you want pull a twist and have Gohan as the SSG, because if Gohan has been keeping up with his training (and studies too) he should theoretically be stronger than Goku and Vegeta. (Because I doubt Vegeta would want it, because he like work for his stuff not ask for hand outs.) Anyway look forward to part 2.

Yeah, I would like to see this storyline continued in the events of Super, all the way through the Tournament of Power, at the very least. It's amazing how such a simple change can have such profound and far-reaching effects on the future.

I highly doubt vegeta would achieve super saiyan grade 4 because in the original he entered the room of spirit and time twice after seeing goku, and he didn't get that form.

Something I never understood was after Goku and Gohan show off Ssj G4 and how much stronger they were, how come both Vegeta and/or Trunks didn't try to achieve that form as well? Let say that before the post HTC Goku, Vegeta and Trunks were roughly around the same strength. So during the second trip in, it should've been a bit easier for them to achieve since they were a tad stronger than their first trip.
Plus, why did they train alone again? Goku and Gohan grew incredibly strong training together when before they were below #18. Piccolo split himself apart and trained with himself. He went from being on par with #17 to someone who fight on a Cell Jrs level (mind you they weren't fighting full strength 😏).
There's actually two reasons in-story. The first reason is that Grade 4 isn't necessarily stronger than Grade 2 and is physically weaker than Grade 3. The main advantage is stamina. "Grade 4" is really just Grade 1 or 2 but with practice to make it your body's "normal" state.
The second reason Goku explains in the Buu arc: Vegeta actually trains *TOO* Hard. As any athlete can tell you, your muscle gains actually happen on your rest day BETWEEN workouts. Vegeta never gives his body time to rest and so he ironically sees fewer gains than Goku, Gohan, or even Trunks because of the extra effort he puts in. Not in spite of it.
Vegeta probably focused on getting stronger in Grade 2 wanting to be rather than simply working to get used to Super Saiyan.
@@Vales55 that's actually a great point, and now that you mention it Goku said it in a way. You can keep training to get stronger but at some point it'll just be torture for your body. Ad you're totally right about Vegeta literally training almost everyday every moment.
I am a bit confused though, I thought Grade 4 was stronger than 3 because when you actually unleash the true power of it's form it skyrockets. Remember how Trunks, Vegeta and the others were amazed and shocked when Goku powered up to half of his full power for Korin? Same when both Goku and Gohan fully powered up during the Cell games.
..... Ya know in a weird way, I always wanted both Goku and Vegeta to make ssj God their base form in DBS 😅. Like they'd have to unlock their previous forms again but as Gods.

Dbzchick No getting grade 4 isn’t training other forms. The way you could get bigger amounts of power for other forms is training or staying in the form to get used to it
I'm not sure if it would actually change the story much but in resurrection F one of the motivating forces for Frieza to train was knowing that Goku defeated Majin Buu because his father told him never to challenge Buu or Beerus. So it may be possible that we wouldn't get Golden Frieza either
