Thanks great compliment!
you have been a solid tutor for me for just over 2 years now. I love kali, staff ,nun chucku and sword and dagga. thank you for your knowledge.
Thanks for training with me Gavin!
I looked up Kali and it said it's a Lazer so what is Kali because I'm pretty sure no one is going to be teaching somebody to use a massive death lazer
@@shadowgaming96801 The Kali stick is the wooden weapon used in the martial art of Arnis in the Philippines. I should know. I'm Filipino, and know some of my dad's friends who took Arnis classes in their youth.

Having the white tape on this one really helped gauge where it was supposed to land in the wrist role. Thank you 😊
For me, the Bo, is my favorite traditional martial arts weapon. I’ve practiced in times past doing simple spins.
Recently started learning to wield one and found that its very similar to spinning in a colorguard, fun times!
New tricks, thicker shits.
Stay lit y'all
Bro makes it looks so easy
Thank you SIR as a taekwondo black belt the Bow staff has been my weapon of choice just never got a chance to get really fast appreciate the knowledg… Black belt for life💪🏾
Hello Sir,I am Rajesh Bhatia from Spain -Palma I want to learn properly BO for self defense.Thankful n grateful to you for sharing this video
Thanks
Awesome. Thanks
Smooth!
I love this, i taught myself this move while practicing
*Cackles in excitement* I HAVE FOUND THE STICK FATHER. I SHALL LEARN ALL YOUR WAYS
I wish someone showed me this decades ago
Never too late. Thanks!
I learned differently. Not to let go but do more of an over and under hand twist similar to a baton twirl. That allows the bo to always be in your hand and therefore controlled
Nice tutorial
Thank you!
Thanks Matt, that looked so smooth.
I have a Jo, which I believe is usually shorter than a Bo. I’ve followed your other striking exercises, and managed them with practice. But I’m finding this rolling one tricky.
The Jo I have seems to be made of a heavy wood. Would it be easier to practice this exercise with a lighter wood?
It works well with heavy too. Just start more slowly. Thanks!
I have the opposite issue, I haven’t customised my Jo size yet and it’s the perfect Bo staff size for me right now LOL
Thanks for quick tip:) what material is this bo?
This one is an old oak Bo painted black.
@@pasquinilli because it looks cool
What if I’m doing it with a 18 pound steel rod
Mate good to see someone else in my age group showing age has no barrier, no offence intended Im hitting 60. if you get a chance have a look, Im always learning
Love it. Your channel looks great. Thanks!

going to learn this with a 3kg aluminium bar
What does spinning do for the staff? Is to help build momentum while in combat?
Mostly for training to build endurance, strength, timing and distance, spatial awareness, etc…
@@pasquinilli ahh ok thank you for clearing that up!!
what feet bo stick would be appropriate for a beginner?
6 feet
Where can I get a good staff for fighting? One that has equally distributed weight, not too heavy and would be perfect for defending and fighting?
Also what are they usually known as and how can I physically buy one?
Is bo staff hard to learn im trying to learn bo staff
No. Just practice a little every day
Where can I purchase bostaffs? Amazon's is too thick
Get one here bit.ly/2ZS1Cku

No control over back of hand.
Letting stick off even for a split second off your grip isn't a martial art but just a stunt or choreography. In ancient karaliyapatu or silabam you turn your body instead because a skillful opponent can knock your weapon off at the right moment.

Usually you are great, teaching life saving training & techniques...
This idea of releasing grip of the bo-staff; it's " flashy & smooth " looking.
Butt.... it's dangerous to be disarmed at that point of "release" !!! Might cost someone their life !!!!
Please make clear that these techniques are for training/ muscle development/ coordination training only!!
Because; against a skilled fighter this is a fail- prone technique!!!!
All spinning with the Bo is for cross training only. Like a boxer skipping rope. Not for self defense.
Flashy...
