      There are companies who make things like this thatre weighted on the ends. They also make axes, hatches, daggers, and many other weighted tools you can use to get very strong in areas not many other work on ever. Another really good way to get strong in areas no one would think about, is getting yourself an armwrestling table and hold practices two to three times a week or maybe once or twice depending on your schedule. I guarantee you you'll be freakishly strong in your pronation, supination, and many other various commonly uncorked muscle groups. Its pretty cool, i started adding all of these to my weeks and I will never go back.

    Everything about this was good except for the fact that you said a wrist roll for the one-handed procedure. If it's on your wrist and the angle of your thumb actually bounces the rod back in your face? Why don't you tell people to roll it like it was around their metatarsals? This is actually the finger bones where they are fused before they are split and makes your palm above your thumb but just for your fingers. This seems to be the platform for which the bo staff seems to rotate when you do the one-handed technique and where small balls are caught besides the fingers themselves, correct me if I am wrong.

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  Před 3 lety +3

      Well I’m sure you are right! The term used by most people is wrist roll and so I title the video and use the term “wrist roll” so that CZcams shows the video when people search that term. I’m certain that metatarsal roll is more correct but not likely to be searched for.

    Neat! Thank you so much for sharing this. Usually I use this technique (hand roll) and I can put it behind my back too and throw it up but I have no idea how to do the spins for both sides of the body at the sorta middle of the video so I appreciate this helpful tutorial and hopefully I'll become better with time! :) (and I use an oar because it glides easier for me and it was lying around so I just used it, thanks again)
    Edit: I also forgot to mention with the wrist roll it just goes one way and it keeps sliding that one way until the end of my oar and when I use it the opposite way over and over again it doesn't build momentum and I don't want to use the two hand technique because I always fumble with it so yeah.

    If you back the hand up from the middle slightly your staff will have more momentum kind of like a pendulum and the staff will be doing most of the work with your figure eights. Aside from that a great video. With the wrist roll I find that my hand moves up the staff instead of staying in the middle.

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  Před 21 dnem +1

      Thanks. The hand constantly needs to be replaced into the middle by sliding during the turn. The Indian styles use more of the pendulum style you describe.

    I am just wondering if there is a name for the type of way that I "juggle". It's holding your arms straight infront of you and you keep hitting the stick down with one arm in a way where it spins around your wrist. I think it sort of make an infinitely symbol. Keep in mind no using hands, just arms.
    Anyone know what this is called?

    If you wanna get started but don't have the cash yet for a good staff just go to a hardware store to the moulding isle and grab a dowel of the right length and girth for you and practice with that. That's what I did. I got a 1.25 inch by 6ft pine dowel to learn with. Cost me $12

      Note: do not do any impact training with hardware store dowels they won't hold up.

    I wanna use this as a self defense move, like if someone is trying to attack me with like a wooden stick, it just keeps getting deflected. Ima highly trained ninja I can do a tornado kick, a hood round house, I am close to learning a front flip and my sword skills are good, bo staff skills are not bad but I just don’t know how to spin.

      If you are buying the cane masters quantum Kali sticks, they are sold in pairs. Most other sites, like Century, sell them as a single stick. canemasters.com/affiliate-pages/quantum-martial-arts/quantum-escrima-sticks
