*SPOILER ALERT* This tune always reminds of the scene where Ruth dies and Sukie says "she was a real lady and a lady always knows when to leave." Such a heartbreaking but sweet line :'(
this piece can make me cry...just the saddest part of the movie when Miss Ruth passes! My numero uno fave film...chick flick, ever!!! thx for this, ever so much. My cat was named after him and she features in some of my vids...:)
Yes! I just uploaded the rest of the score today...unfortunately, they won't let me post the main title, "Ghost Train" or "Visiting Ruth," but the rest is up for you guys. Enjoy!
I uploaded "Visiting Ruth" years ago, but it was removed. I'm not sure why, but "Visiting Ruth" was included on the actual soundtrack and I think that had something to do with it. :(
It's a crime that Thomas Newman didn't win an academy award for this score.
Let's not forget the great actor Tim Scott who played smokey. He is awesome.
Poor Smokey, I loved his gentle, lost character in the movie. There was a sadness about him, that makes me cry when I think about him.
The music from this film is fantastic. It brings out the emotions instantly.
You have perfectly described his character. Listening to this piece of music always brings a tear to my eye.
I know what you mean
Yes, well said, I completely agree, the entire movie makes me want to cry…
You know “Smokey Lonesome” was Ruth’s Dad, right?

I can't believe you found a copy of this soundtrack. I've been looking for a copy for about 13 years! It went out of print in the mid-90s.

“When he died a few years back, he had one possession on him: a picture of Ruth. He was in love with her from the first time he saw her.”
So good
When he died years later he had only one possession. A picture of Ruth.

Goodbye, Ruth...
"Sorry about spillin' my food in there mam. I'll just be gettin' on."
