How it just beautifully cuts through with it's clarion tone. Especially in this track how it just dances across the melody.

Absolutely, very prolific time for him. His music matured through the years into something else (older and wiser - still beautiful), but this time period and the oboe always felt to me like a raw nerve being stroked.

He did also did The Shawshawk Redemption, and Green Mile. I own the CD of Meet Joe Black and play it in the car often. Thomas Newman is my favorite composer.
