Do you think Potter will work out long term?
Not sure
It's not looking good honestly
At a club like Chelsea? Probably not. Depends on how patient Todd Boehly is.
I've heard that Boehly was quite patient with the manager at the Dodgers, so I am hopeful that it will work out eventually. That said, if we see no improvement for the remainder of the season, I think even the most patient fans will start to get worried, including myself, especially if we start digging into the transfer market in January.
I don’t see why not. If he gets backing he could suddenly transform the team like Arteta did Arsenal. Who knows. It’s way too early to pass judgement and managers get the sack way too fast, especially at Chelsea.
I think my biggest fear with Potter is the trying to adapt your game each time to your opponent.
Yes you're meant to exploit weaknesses, but when you're the big team, you're expected to take control of the match and play your style and then tweak it to exploit weaknesses.
I feel with the approach Potter takes, it means that often Chelsea don't take control early in the game and this means it can too often spiral, as this only gives smaller teams confidence. Compare this to when City play and they just suffocate the smaller the teams.
I guess those are cons of recruiting from lower level teams, but I trust he'll find his ideal system soon. We're still a Club in transition COYB
This is just the truth. Look at the last 5 premier league winners and all those who challenged them closely. All 433 or at least a 4231 with arsenal now. Changing formations every game won’t work for a top team. I’d even argue that using a back 3 doesn’t work (except for cups). Then when you add in all the other changes with players all playing in different positions it’s an absolute mess. Chelsea’s 2 biggest issues past few years have been managers chopping and changing things too much as well as having a very injury prone squad. The seasons over now anyway so until then I’d go 433 anyway. Ziyech and Pulisic on the wings because they deserve it for now. Then come the transfer window there is so much that needs to be done. Replace the deadwood, and by deadwood I mean our injury prone players except James.
@@DrBased123 Hmmm not quite. I do agree that switching formations will not be a long term solution, I think the Premier League victories are because of the managers time with the teams. Pep, Klopp and now Arteta spent some time developing a style, a team and a formation to win not matches, but trophies.
Chelsea is a win now or get sacked team. It's a philosophy. Maybe they need time to get the right players and to them to get used to Mr. Potter
You talk about Guardiola : he's the proof that you can adapt your formation every game and still crush your opponent
Chelseas season ended last season when RJ got injured, the same happened this season.
What's worrying is that despite this warning from last year, we still didn't buy a back up for RJ.
What you described doesn't seem like what Potter is doing with the centre backs. To send a LCB or RCB up the field and then the other two drop back to centre was what Tuchel did. Potter does not work this way. He drag out the LCB and RCB to wide positions to support the two wingbacks so as to create numerical advantage. But the downside is Thiago Silva is often left along in the centre position. Without a Kante-like CDM Chelsea suffer from a lot of fast counter-attacks. I don't know why he didn't change after a few times being caught on the break, but what you described is not what he has been doing.
GP will be fine. He's one of the innovators in today's game. He's just go through some teething issues
Do you like milk?
Classic example of English managers being overhyped same thing English fans do with most of their young players
@@davidfebreeze428 Yeah, it's unfortunate but it comes with the job y'know...
with injuries and the then pending world cup it was difficult to judge Potter , now is the right time
Football fans are like goldfish. He was touted as one of the most talented managers in premier league, with Brighton steadily climbing season after season. Now he’s in a bad spell with Chelsea and everyone is saying he’s no Eddie Howe lol. Who himself was considered a talented manager until he got the sack and everyone started saying he ain’t anything, until he transformed Newcastle. How bout we give Potter at least a seasons time before judging him.
Even Eddie Howe can not succeed at Chelsea, English managers are overrated just like English players, there is currently no English manager who can succeed at top club.
@@PalestinianVictory96 why?
@@ToTheNines87368
Like I said, because they are overrated, managers like Klopp, Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Guardiola, Ancelotti are on a different level tactically, English managers are no match for that.
@@PalestinianVictory96 that’s my problem, generalizations like such and such nationality is overrated, it’s not an argument as much as a grand sweeping statement. Potter is not of the same type of old school English manager like Sam Allardyce nor is he completely unproven in management and overrated like Frank Lampard. He’s been successful in every club so far and has grudually taken a step up, so a club like Chelsea is the logical next step. The likes of Guardiola is rarely ever available and sometimes you need to take a chance on talent. It makes perfect sense to me, as he’s proven smart and is tactically adapt, the only thing I’d admit to is him not commanding the same type of respect as a top tier proven manager, but with time and results that could change.
To be fair, we've been without the first-choice wingbacks James and Chilwell due to injury. The replacements don't fit as well, by necessity and not by choice.
I don't think Chelsea fans should be feeling so negative. Well, this is the first year Chelsea begin their rebuild, many challenges are waiting for the team. Potter is the right man to place the first bricks to build a new reign, he may not achieve any trophy, his legacy is ready for someone else to win, like Carletto's case with the tripple UCL Real Madrid. He built that squad and Zidane just need to maintain morale.
It can work out of course, especially now that Potter can build his team without Roman or Marina, but its a different team than others he's managed before. He has to win games and probably won't have the luxury of people letting poor form slide, despite the fact it could for tuchel. Tactics aren't an issue,it's just the players, but with the youth Potter has ie Hall,Webster and Hutchinson it won't be a problem much longer
I guess Roman and Marina where a big problem for you? At least you got what you wish for , time to enjoy ;)
@@jivkogg Roman wasn't a problem, but he fired many good managers before they could do anything really meaningful. Marina cost us many players by being stingy, but Roman is probably the one I'm most sad about
Thank you so much, i keep saying potters formations are irrelevant but back 4 brexit chelsea fans always want a back 4 to play their "dm" not knowing what potter actually wants or that there are multiple ways to allow for a dm
If Jorginho is part of that then we don't want it. Brighton don't have the personnel Chelsea has. Why's potter style of play so outdated and poor? Easily exploited and ineffective. Some say he hasn't found the right players from the bunch but he's been at the club for 5 months. Surely that's enough time to sort out the good players from the scraps.
Trust him and give him a long time.
ln this season,let's be patient.
Trust and support
One thing I was always impressed by is webster’s role at Brighton, but I can’t think of a Chelsea player that could do that. But either way I think that potter should focus on getting the players to play the same roles as at Brighton, like for example March, gross, and trossard’s roles
Love the videos. Great analysis for football nerds like me.
Also you should do how gakpo will fit in at Liverpool
Or
Emery Aston Villa tactics
I think Potter will be good long term. Lets remember he took Brighton from a relegation candidate to a top 6 contender. Something we praise Eddie Howe for doing yet Potter did the same without the massive transfer budget Howe has had.
He's proven in the Prem in terms of winning football games. The question is handling the pressures of Chelsea. Being reevaluated after each loss. Unhappy international stars on the bench. Etc. If he can manage those things well, I believe its just a matter of time till the on field product will be up to par with the rest of the Top 4 again.
Long term doesn’t exist with Chelsea bro. I hear your points but I don’t see how appointing a Brighton manager will result in any success whatsoever.
Taking a struggling side to the top 10 doesn't mean the manager will succeed in managing a top club, some managers are better suited to mediocre teams like Unai Emery
@@lnfused that was under roman, everyone seems to forget that we are under new ownership and these guys are backing potter for the long term, why do you think they gave him a 5 year contract
@@franalytics5995 well the manager on Roman era also got long contract. Some of them but end up sacked way before the whole contract lasted.
However we just don't know yet how it is under Boehly. How much he expects the manager and what's his priority on evaluating a manager.
@@footballfan5048 nope, the longest contract roman ever gave was 2 years
This aged like fucking milk.
That's something I didn't expect to hear
"Two floaters in behind Aubameyang"
Chelsea fans let's trust the process!
I hope Chelsea relegate

Hey,pls analyse about Jude bellingham strengths and weakness.and analyse which team he would be perfect to suit in.
From a real madrid fan😅
Shouldn't have sacked Tuchel at the first place
Tucheliban is a fraud anyways 🤡
Nah. Potter is better man manager for youths.
At the end of the day .. there is no balance anywhere in this team.. there are no tactics and combination of 11s that will allow any part of this team to function the way it should. This is a result of years and years of poor scouting and buying specific players for specific managers and there playing styles . We need a squad rebuild that has a set playing philosophy and we need to buy the right profile of player instead of buying players who can only function in a certain system for a certain manger much like jorginho being a sarri player and not really being able to give balance outside of sarri system .
Right and tuchel did a good job of that by being extremely practical and giving a defined mentality even if it was terrorism dinosaur ball, but then Chelsea sacked him anyway
@@didntwantmyrealnameanymore . No sorry tuchel did not do a good job ... he had rudiger and christensen at his disposal as well as an I'm form mendy .. so the defence was stronger which is why he focused on defense... but as a result of this he neglected our attack and he didn't change his tactics preseason and went with this same crap and we were worse . Tuchel did not help this sqaud . I would say tuchel is at fault for the majority of the problems in this sqaud .. low confidence poor form .. all his doing in a few months he went from looking like the solution .. to being the biggest problem long term never gonna fix our attack and was negative influence on many players the way he shout and screamed from touchline .
Now you re do this video with the new signings that chelsea have
Potter approach without the ball need improving them no press high up the pitch often enough. They are too easy to play through in midfield
No doubt is changing Chelsea. From title contenders to top 10 team, for now. But I will relax only after we make 40 points. Because the way it goes he could change us to First division team no doubt.
Bro we have so many injured players
Can u make a vid about Allegris Juve tactics?
Nukuku will be good signing he is good at thigt space him and mount will be crucial
Please do Newcastle
I have faith in GP. I think he's gonna really go for it now and he needs to because what really matters is climbing that table
Pls do Dortmund under tezic🙏
Will he change the team on this type of play
I think that potter needs to lean into pulisic as much as possible. He has his weaknesses, but he’s more aggressive than Chelsea’s other attackers and also plays better when he gets to play his full game. Chelsea should imo use two strikers with pulisic and mount out wide, and use sterling as the main man off the bench. I think potter probably wishes he had giroud, because giroud x auba would be way better than havertz x auba
Luis Enrique is available. Spanish coaches are the best for projects and they win trophies within that 3-5 year project and Spanish coaches make sure their teams play beautiful football.
Nah that high possession based football is now outdated
Counter attacking with effective possession game is useful now
Just like how Morocco reached semis and Japan beat Spain and Germany both
Even Argentina against Croatia was relying upon counter
@@neel8407 and WTF is pep doing then
@@soranonbillateh3364 well they goes for counter as well.
Haaland KDB Riyadh all likes to break oppo with pace
Yeah...changing from top to mid table team.
Please break down Dortmund tactics
I hope we have one 😂
Talk about Newcastle United
No matter what yo7 need stability. What his approach without the ball
I don’t think people have actually comprehended the transition the club has gone through, we’re in the middle of the biggest re structure in world football, and on top of that an unthinkable amount of injury’s, we’ll be back, things are only just getting started 😮💨
Chelsea need;
LB
RB
LW
CAM
CDM
Chelsea's best players are Kante and Reece James. They have missed many games. Imagine Liverpool without Salah and VVD.
People need to calm down. We just need to get players to remain fit and we can play at our optimum
I don't think Chelsea will finish in the champion League postion this season.
It will be hard ofc,but if we get Europa and a proper squad rebuild then we can even challenge for the pl in a few years
We know ffs
Highly unlikely tbh, top6 if were lucky.
Not wrong there mate
@@marhersy1906 how long Chelsea rebuilt process will continue?Last there or four years we are going to rebuild process?Look at city they don't need even rebuilt process after 16/17 season because of their manager, right time right decision....
Trust the process CFC fans just fire one more manage
Thanks
Newcastle
Are you South African this accent sounds weirdly familiar 😂
What "tactics" it's just vibes and praying Mount does something
The 'magic' is slowly manifesting from Potter...
Reece James is a 24 not 26
More than tactics it's his man management which can be questioned so far. He's looked far too calm and relaxed at the touchline and in his post match conferences after those terrible losses. Yes we've had to suffer with poor recruitment but you can now tell what Tuchel was dealing with. A squad with a bunch of over rated and mediocre players at best and yet he made them win the CL. That's why Tuchel was world class. Potter looks lost imo and he's gonna get the soft backing of the English media cause... He's English!
I'm afraid he'll just turn out to be one of the many over hyped and over rated English managers over decades (Lampard, Gerrard, Rodgers etc)
All of this is now completely irrelevant now he's switched to a back 4 but good analysis all the same. 👍
Good manager, but does he have time?
Tuchel would never let this happen. Discuss :

At least with tuchel, we were guaranteed domestic cup finals
you will see longer term, Potter's chelsea will be miles better than Tuchel
@@sionevans256 Potter will be never win a trophy at Chelsea. Mark my words. I know failure when I see one

@@jerryofosuhene no your just not used to a project, all the big clubs now are built on projects, not the constant firing and hiring Abramovich regime
6:47 couldn’t this be a manifestation of Potter’s chelsea taking more risks than Tuchel’s in the final third.
Was an issue under Tuchel.
Might not be, just posing the question.
Yh, and with less back and sideways passing under Potter compared to the when tuchel was manager. Possession is key for Potter style of play but at the same time, he wants direct free flowing football, compared to tuchel patient possession style
@@banksta_ yeah exactly. Another example how stats can be misleading I think. Just because Tuchel had more possession doesn’t mean he was better. Just different.
@@bradley4706 most of our possession during tuchel was from jorgingho doing back passes, no wonder he has a 95% pass completion rate

Noooooooooooooo
Potter making chelseafc weak.... How are they strong sitting in 10th.... Come guys open your eye this guy is a mid table specialist
This explanation is very confusing. Please add player names instead of numbers next time.
Potter doesn't know his first 11.This his first time having so much talented players in his career and that why his struggling. I believe he can be one of the greatest manager in epl, gave him time his learning.
Please Newcastle
For me, I never rate English managers highly. I will be surprised Potter works at Chelsea. I need trophies not this flexibility nonsense and playing players out of position which is so annoying
If Potter plays jorginho consistently without getting a DM or creative midfield in January, he deserve to be SACKED.
This is not how potter plays wtf
Graham potter shot himself in the foot by not switching to a back for when he had major injuries to his natural wing backs.
Could’ve saved him a few headaches and premier league points
Playing players out of position has to stop at Chelsea. Simplicity brings beauty in football. All these flexibility nonsense leading to midfielders playing wingback is absolutely rubbish. I
He ain't no Eddie Howe.
Why don't you have a debate with the fans who knows what the club needs?
Playing a back 3 won't work anymore. Look at spurs with conte.
I can video chat to share my opinion
The problems with him are:
1. He plays a lot of players out of their positions and keeps doing that
2. He plays Fantasy football with the team i.e. changing it too much even in FF you pay a price of too may changes
3. He has no winning mentality i.e. he sets up the team quite defensive and hopes for a 0-0 draw against teams like Arsenal, City, Newcastle and obviously you will lose against those when you go for a draw
4. He makes a mistake, sees it changes it in that game (Brentford, United matches) but in the next game he does the same. He has played Cucurella as full left back too many times and everyone sees that Cucu is terrible there but Potter doesn't have it!
5. People complain about injuries but like to ignore that e.g. even when Chilwell was ready he was being benched in favor Cucu, you have Azpiliqueta who plays fix in Spain but then he favors RLC who should not even be in this Chelsea team. His favoritism especially towards English players is another issue of him.
Long story short he is not at the calibre of Chelsea as no English coach is either. No top club in the world (including PL) assigns an English coach since they are nowhere close to world class coaches.
👍🏻
Good content personally I think people need to ease off, this season with all the changes was gunner b a transitional season, on top of that we've had some key players out through injuries any side would miss them! We've invested in some real quality youth and think given a little time, he's the right man going forward I like his style of football what he done with Brighton was fantastic he's now got world class players to work with I've no concerns at all we have no divine right to be top 4 people need to be realistic this season but I know we'll be right at it next season and many seasons to come!Bohly personally although very different to abram is going about things very nicely investing in the best youth throughout the world give it a little time CARE FREE!!!
I think the problem is that this is the 3rd transitional season in the past 5 years. Plus we can't keep missing out on Champions league, as this will affect our finances within the FFP structure.
Obviously this season we may have to accept this, but we cannot miss more than one season in the champions league, especially if we want to keep our big players like Havertz, Nkunku (if we really have got him as the reports say), Broja, even James if we rely on him too much.
@joshbrown2217 100% but new owner and manager got to stick and build which is what they are doing People need to just calm down
@@jamieoliver3262 Oh yea I 100% agree. But also the new owner brought this on himself by sacking the fan favourite manager like 6 weeks into the season.
This panic and examining through a small lense was totally due to Boehly not waiting until the end of the season, even if fans need to calm down and support the team more.
@joshbrown2217 just tells me he,ll make the call and act on it tuchel weren't for his vision going forward and I honestly think he,d lost a lot of the dressing room no doubt about that so time will tell !%

@@Nkosie007 clearly shows you don't watch football well. Arsenal for example most at times build up with the back 3 system and even play the back 3 system when in possession.
