    Actually the crack it makes could help alert people to your location if your are lost and it could help scare of bares or wolves.
    Best bring one with you rather than freezing you butt off making one , when you got there 👍

    Haha I actually bring my own personal whips with me whenever I go out to hike in the woods. Also I love the way it sounds in the woods. It's very loud when you're in a wooded area. I try to spend as much time as possible in the woods when I go out to crack

      Spencer Merrell - I do the same thing. When people ask me what I like to do, I just grab a whip from the car.

    I see what you mean, a bullwhip that you throw together in an hour wont scare much off, nor will it have much benefit in the long run, but I feel like making one anyway as it would take up some boring time.

    Hey man, great video!
    Advice on the paracord though, if you find the center end of the paracord, and pull on that one, the paracord will unravel with beautiful ease. The end that you can see from the outside you should never yank on. But there is an end inside the coil and that one will make life with paracord easier.
    Hope that helps! :)

    I love how you say to pull out about a foot of it, and it's like 20 inches... 😂 You need a little more time spent with a tape measure to acclimate to standard measurements. That was like a yettie foot..

    • @caliberwhips9595

      I used a 100ft hank of 550 paracord and one roll of 2'' by 15yd hockey tape for one whip.

  • @cooperberg3782
    @cooperberg3782 Před 4 lety

    You can just tie a not at the end and then put the hay twine on

  • @FlexDRG
    @FlexDRG Před 6 lety

    So the idea behind this construction is so you can take the whip apart to recover the paracord to do survival stuff with?
    Would it not have been better to do the paracord winding from 1 long part instead of melting shorter parts together?

    • @caliberwhips9595
      @caliberwhips9595  Před 6 lety

      You can, that wasn't the original thought, but that's a good idea. I melted short pieces together with the idea that you would keep it; but you can make one with the intention that you will store and use the cord later.

    • @FlexDRG
      @FlexDRG Před 6 lety

      The main idea behind paracord bracelets, belts etc. is to have a convenient way to carry a long piece of cord on you person. So if you like whips, and think it's handy to bring one on a hiking trip, this might be a handy design. Just keep it on a belt loop... packs can get lost.

    • @caliberwhips9595
      @caliberwhips9595  Před 6 lety

      Yeah, good idea. I didn't think of that.

    When making a bullwhip what happens when you dont put metal bbs to the core ?

    • @wyattsickler9127
      @wyattsickler9127 Před 5 lety

      Jerome Mallari the BBs are mainly for more weight which makes the whip easier to crack. Without them the whip is lighter, will take more energy to crack, and may even be much more difficult to crack.

  • @Dom44519
    @Dom44519 Před 5 lety

    Could you apply this method to make a snake whip?

  • @PaulTheSkeptic
    @PaulTheSkeptic Před 6 lety

    Wait, curl up in a ball and pray? You wouldn't at least try to scare it away? I mean, I'm not saying it would necessarily work but if you have the whip anyway, you might as well try.

    • @caliberwhips9595
      @caliberwhips9595  Před 6 lety

      Paul TheSkeptic - No. Trying to scare a grizzly would just piss it off. I’ve read that you can scare and even fight of a black bear; but grizzlies are literally a completely different animal. I’ve heard that Lewis and Clark were used to black bears, and that one rifle shot would kill it. They were shocked at grizzlies, which took like five shots to take one down. One of them was even treed by a grizzly. At least that’s what I’ve heard. I’ve been fortunate enough not to come across any bear.

    I did the math and you only need 50ft of paracord

    • @pro9_adventures
      @pro9_adventures Před 5 lety

      I also disagree with the measurement of 1ft in the beginning... Seems like an over estimate.

  • @midmichiganpracticalarts7468

    Of course you would not want to make one in a survival situation. That is why you creat a concealed carry system for your whip and have one on you at all times.
