The worst way supermarkets are ripping us off is the lack of service. I popped into Tesco the other night and, as usual, bought far more than I intended. I had to queue up at the self service section, once I got there, as usual, problems all the time ie there was a strap lock on a tin of baby milk and had to queue up to get a member of staff to remove it for me, other things wouldn’t scan, all the usual problems etc. I spent nearly 80 quid and had to wait, mess about looking for help. We customers are part of the staff these days and I resent it with a passion - not like we’re popping in for a bottle of milk, but laying down big money and getting no service whatsoever - this really winds me up. The week before I bout a coat from them and went through the standard till. I passed the coat to an assistant, explaining I didn’t want to put it on the belt because they are dirty/messy - she took it from me, didn’t bag it, virtually screwed it us - not folded! Through it down to the collection section at the bottom and continued to send my groceries down on to it … It was a minute before I noticed and stopped her doing it - what the hell!! I didn’t want to put it in one of my own pre-used carrier bags and I had to pay for a carrier to take it home …. What a rip off and the worst service ever. I will never shop there again ….

Don't use the self-service unless it is an emergency because it does a till operator out of a job and if the cashier is staring into space whilst you struggle to pack - suggesting she NOT bother to help sends home a point.

I work in my small local co-op and in the last month we have gone from having three staff members a shift to two. This consisted of a team leader/ manager, someone on the till and the third replenishing shelves.
Now we have a manager with the second person serving, overseeing the two self service checkouts and shelf stacking.
Last week I worked a shift and was running from till to shelves and back again. I saw people reluctantly going to the self checkout before I could get back and thought how this situation is going to negatively impact our customers. These businesses are shooting themselves in the foot and saving £10.50 an hour. Not a huge cost for keeping a positive impression of their stores.
Added to that the shop lifters are having a field day. I'm serving and watching people just walk out with pockets full

    • @junebarber8459
      @junebarber8459 Před 9 měsíci +3

@@amyp66 it’s not as if customers are just spending a few bob, most people’s bill comes to three figures. You are right, it’s not a good look for these stores. Supermarkets were the only businesses that never suffered in the lock downs - they want big money customers and minimum staff wages - wrong on every level - pure greed …..

The problem is that we allowed the likes of the BBC ITV, Sky etc to replace proper journalism & journalist's... Our print journalism has long been replaced by whatever celebrity the TV channels are deciding to "back"
Once upon a time talented, committed & morally competent journalist's reported only what they saw, heard, felt or were in the middle of, these celebrity talking heads instead offer gossip, opinions & fake news.... Is it any wonder that independent news channels such as Talk TV & GB News are gaining popularity as fed up viewers finally turn their backs on the old fashioned, woke out of touch channels whose schedule is based on their preferences NOT the viewer's... Keep up the good work guy's, allow the public to have an alternative at last 👍👍👍

It's not a bank's job to stop "money-laundering", i.e. tax-evasion, never used to be. The source and purpose of clients' funds should not be the concern of the bank, only custody of them. It's the job of HMRC and the police to control "money-laundering".
We are moving towards a police state when the police require other parties to pass them information unsolicited. If HMRC are investigating a person and have reasonable suspicions, then let them compel a bank to provide whatever client data they require, preferably with a warrant from a judge. We are citizens of the UK, not of China, and we deserve to be treated as such, not as potential criminals.
I'm fed up with being asked by cashiers what I want the money for. None of their business. Nor is it their business where it came from, that's between me and the taxman. HMRC carries out investigations using statistical sampling, so it will discover what thereal rate of tax-evasion is in the UK, and of "money-laundering".
These onerous regulations were brought in to deal with Russian oligarch billionaires (although their money is perfectly legal under Russian law) and African dictators. Not Mr and Mrs Jones from Tunbridge Wells, who now seem to be the main targets.

There is going to be so much unrest in Britain very soon whether it's against the two faced Just Stop Oil or illegal immigrants getting here and being treated better than us British that have been born and bred in Britain. I think the barge and army base that house these illegal immigrants, should have been done up by our governments for Britain's poor homeless.

Aussie here. There are currently questions being raised about Dan Andrew’s honesty with the ‘budget blowout’ with the Commonwealth Games. Our news media and politicians in opposition say that the state budget handed down in the last month still had the games costs on budget and no proof has been provided it was going to cost 3x as much. Apparently he was warned in 2019 they couldn’t afford it. Now an Enquiry has been launched.

I’m not in that state, I guess the alternative party seems like a poorer choice. He makes a lot of promises and then doesn’t keep them, but he was considered good in the pandemic. I think this one will be his undoing though.

We're - I'll just speak for my family since I don't know 330million people :) - are sickened and saddened to see how Nigel Farage has been treated, and for so long. Watching this on both sides of the pond actually is worse than sick and sad. It's *dangerous* and we all have to fight for people being treated like this. The famous writing from the time of the Holocaust comes to mind. Don't stand back while a government comes for one group, one person, and "Yay, I didn't like him anyway" until they've come for everyone & there is no one left to speak for you. Or me. We the people, whether you're part of the UK, the United States? WE are the country! Our governments, the media, and tech companies hate us. We must not let them divide us. We must demand better and we must care about our neighbors.

Oh please, Elon Musk knows exactly what he is doing. He is the master at playing a long game. So the company has temporarily lost value, he knows that and has quoted Inigo Montoya from PRINCESS BRIDE, "I don’t care." Ever heard of f you money? Final point where the panelist totally gives away her agenda, "The company has gone anti-woke and it is horrid." The vast majority would say hooray, well done Elon.

I remember on holiday last year a guy looked at one off these, and said its 48 degrees today, i told him it's not anything like that, it's attached to the wall.
