Downtown has such potential. Yes, tear down the old buildings and they shouldn’t necessarily build something else or build the same kind of building. I would love to see more green space and small shops circling a large garden for small local business people to open a little store and perform for visitors.

Tax the property with buildings that have no value. The owner would make a economic decision to turn it into something productive. If not the government could acquire the property and demolish the building. It could then be auctioned for production.

The government could demolish and put a lien on the property

Only three buildings have been constructed in downtown kingston over the past 30 years, the digicel building, the grace kennedy building, and the ministry of foreign affairs. The government needs to do better than this.

When he said old, I thought he meant dilapidated, but those are some sound buildings from colonial era that need restoring. Install new windows and doors and put a fresh coat of paint, that will do it.

downtown Kingston need to be demolished and build a brand new city from the ground up with high rise building office towers with retail space so that you can have foot traffic because most of those buildings in Jamaica have no retail stores so that people can shop go to new York City and Miami and you will see what a city looks like Jamaica building building with no attractions

Only in jamaica....downtown Kingston is getto and uptown is a modern metropolitan area. Where every international cities. Downtown is the place where you want to live, work and play, but if jamaica developer's start to focus on downtown Kingston with more highrise hotels, and condominiums, with high end and low end units plus malls, theaters cinemas and other units for business and pleasure like clubs and gaming hall, roll a skating...light and heavy rail , it would be amazing, and not to forget ferryboats to the airport, Port Royal and portmore. That's my wish list for Kingston jamaica one love 🇯🇲 ❤️.

They may need to pass legislation to help push the development process where the owners either develop the old buildings or they sell them to the people who actually are willing to do so. Most of these owners are waiting for the price to go up before they sell because of surrounding developments. The problem with that is if everybody is sitting and waiting then development gets hindered so we need that legislation.

They have plan to demolished these building but the money is the problem to build new ones. Some is owned by the government, and some is owned by private people like the Jamaican jews. They will be demolished as soon as they have the money to rebuild
