- Jamaica is famous as the home of reggae, Rasta, laid-back Caribbean feeling-and pushcarts. These unique and mostly home-made handcarts are the typical mode of transport seen at the island’s lively and colorful markets. And their capabilities as fruit and veg stall, mobile kitchen or miniature shoe shop are as varied as the life stories of their charismatic owners.
For them, the pushcarts are not only the equipment they need for their livelihood, but also a potential way of fulfilling their greatest dream: to become rich and famous by winning the Great Pushcart Derby!

Always my family
Thank you kindly for taking the time and effort together go to my family’s homeland ( May Pen in Clarendon) and create this documentary.
Very informative and not only about one area of culture in Jamaica.
I cannot wait to go back to see my father’s land in Thompson Town, Windsor District once more. You would have enjoyed filming up there as it is just as remote as Blue Mountain and lush with life!
I did not want the video to end from the moment I began watching it.
I will definitely share it and I look forward to watching more interesting videos on your channel.
Well said my family
Love the video and point of view that Jamaican towards life.
We went to St Robins Bay in 1975 beautiful country beautiful people
The original Push Cart Derby was held in Discovery Bay, St Ann, at Kaiser Sports Club, now called Noranda Bauxite Ltd. That's where parts of Cool Runnings were shot. All 14 parishes would compete. It was held in August. It stopped keeping in the late 90s & new organizers tried to bring it back around 2007, but it didn't work out.
Thanks for another sports day. I've evjoyed myself.
