Glad you’re ok! Been watching for a few years. My friend is an EMT and always tells me that airbags will save your life in a crash but they’ll beat the shit outta you in order to do so.
Does he say how many people are paralysed from an airbag in a low speed crash that otherwise would have had no injuries? or how many developed respiratory issues after? they can be a saviour especially in a severe accident but I think for 90% of airbag’s being deployed is at a speed to slow and is not necessary
I got in an accident recently and the airbag definitely saved my head from going into my steering wheel but it still caused the only scrapes and cuts I suffered.

yeah, those nylon fuel lines... could've been much, much worse.
I've certainly experienced some interesting failures on the dyno, but this one certainly took the number 1 spot haha. Glad that it wasn't worse!

I truly hope you feel better soon! Between (Guitarmageddonzl1) Nick’s 5th Gen, and yours, I feel like you got it worse than him since he had a roll cage when his went off. I know how those f#€kers feel too unfortunately, and they’re even worse when you really aren’t expecting them. If I remember this correctly, Nick’s went off due to his exhaust dumps creating too much vibration and tripping the sensors. And if I’m not mistaken, when parts started falling off of yours I noticed the shaking, then you mentioned it felt like something came through the floor, which leaves me to believe that when that all happened it was enough to trip the same sensors that Nick tripped. Thinking out loud here, my bad.. but I truly feel like GM should do something about it, if there’s anything they can.

Like you said somthing hit the floor really hard and caused the airbag module to freak out. It's usually mounted right under the console so it took a direct hit. That's the craziest thing I've seen. Prolly gonna need to start pulling airbag fuses on the next cars.

Glad everything looks ok compared to how it could’ve been. Air bags suck most of the time unless a life is on the line… those seem like the biggest pain to fix out of the whole deal
You might want to think about putting a braket over the fuel lines to prevent from anything cutting them and catching fire again.

Same airbags blew on my Camaro when I side swiped a curb of a concrete barrier with my front wheel. The sensors on the Camaros are very sensitive.
There is also a video on CZcams of someone's ZL1 airbags blowing when going up a curb on a track.
There are two videos of the Camaro airbags going off and one of them was of a Camaro taking a turn at thunder Hill without going over the curb and airbags went off.
That’s the most insane thing I’ve seen on a dyno for sure! What a great attitude after the fact!
You need to go look up Master Shredder attempting a 3,000 horsepower pull then tell me that this piece of crap Camaro is the most exciting thing you've seen on a dyno I'll apologize for the piece of crap comment, it's faster than editing

Thanks! While it is my job to film. I am also the second set of eyes outside of the car. most of the time we can stop the pull before something like this happens but there was no catching this one only stopping it before it got worse and it could’ve been a lot worse

Trying to squeeze a little more timing and squeezed the oil out instead. Glad you're ok and the car wasn't totaled. This video is a good reminder to have a fire extinguisher handy.

The RCM was hit by the exploding trans.
That is what set off the bags.
With the key in the on position, if you take the RCM and turn it on it's side that will fire the bags even sitting in the driveway.

Guy did a kick ass job with fire extinguisher. I don't even see any scorching.
I got most of it out but the fuel line braid got singed down to the metal core and some other stuff got burnt that we’re gonna cover in another video
That fire reminds me of the fire while driving my Ford F-150 in El Salvador on a unpaved road when a rock popped up and knocked the speedometer cable loose. Hope he recovers from the burn.

The Fuel Tech Guys wear a fire suit, and a helmet with the visor down when making a pull. You may want to consider doing the same!! Also is the vehicle totaled? Some states automatically total a car if the air bags go off.
no way is ANY state totaling a car for curtain airbags deploying. lol States have ZERO to do with anything. Its the insurance company that totals the car. lmao

The injury looks like a seat belt pre-tensioner fired off. I'm not sure if you were wearing it at the time but if you were that might have been what actually happened. If that's the case you might have to replace the pre-tensioner too.

Damn glad you’re ok. But I’m so confused. Where was the airbag module? I always thought they were in the engine compartment and airbags only deploy on impact. So damage to the module will deploy ALL of the airbags?

We did like 50 aluminium DS's, 2 exploded one damaged the floor and bunch of stuff almost killed a driver. no more ALU DS crap in my book. They both did the same as yours, your carnage is DS related too. We had stock steel DS pushing over 1000...the best thing is DS manufacturers wont take any responsibility...and I can throw some names!
