    And what a great question! I do think they propbably create the colors first and then hunt for models that match the shades rather than taking a model and finding a match for them.

    I'm finally getting around to trying this and was color matched 200 but fortunately got the sample card. 200 was both waaaaay too dark and too green on me. 170 was about the level of dark to light I needed but the wrong untertone entirely. They also had the 120 sampled and while this was waaaay to light it had the right undertone.... therefore it looks like 140 or 150 or 180 might have the right undertone. I hate buying multiple bottles of foundation and mixing so I'm hoping I'll be able to see them in person to get the right shade. I always appreciate your reviews and find them so helpful.

    Oh my goodness. I have to thank you yet again. Lol. After your Kosas concealer demo with the Tilbury concealer, I have been eager to try them together with your technique. I finally got my Kosas order this morning from their recent sale. I got two concealers, a foundation, and the Comfy Powder, then went to work immediately. A few days ago, I tried the Saie concealer after seeing it on you, and it is great. I thought it would be my new regular until I used the, "Kiki, Kosas-Tilbury Method," this morning. I cannot even remember the last time my undereyes looked this good. Wow. It has been several hours and I only had to gently press my left trough area. There is no cracking or peeling. I got lucky with foundation #150 and medium powder which surprised me that it was not too dark. I really like this foundation. It has the right amount of pink undertone for me, is extremely comfortable, and great coverage. Thank you again. This is the first time I was happy with every item I ordered 😁

      Wow - I'm so happy for you! SO glad the Kosas Tilbury mix worked out - it's a great combo. Oddly, I find the CT doesn't work with thinner concealers like the Lancome but the Kosas and Clinique are great with it. Congrats!

    Great video! I was so excited to try this but had the hardest time finding my shade. I’m the same shade as you and Givenchy N250 is my perfect match. The shade 200 looked so olive/yellow on me. I loved the foundation but the color was not good! I did buy 2 of their concealer shades and they both pulled yellow. Hopefully they can improve the colors in the future. If I mix some of my Givenchy or Dior with it I can make it work but it’s a shame I have to do that

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, it is a shame to have to mix - and also I feel like we don't get the full effect of foundations when we mix - I love the effect this has on the skin, but if I mix it with something else, I'm afraid it might be lost. Plus you'd have to be careful about what you mix it with since this has zinc in it.

    • @MusicLover-sb7mo

      Agree Kosas concealer pulls yellow. I mix with a L’Oréal Infallible waterproof concealer which is too light and dry, the combination works amazingly well.

    I am surprised there aren't any shades between 190 and 200, because there is such a difference between them. The coverage is absolutely beautiful on you. In my opinion, the mix of 130 & 200 was the best on you. Even though the undertones were not right for you, after you tweaked them, they looked nice. Thank you for the longevity tests too. Kosas foundation and concealer are now on my, "Must Try" list. Thank you.

    You nailed the issue with Moses base products, the shade range. My skin is 3 to 4 shades deeper and I too, cannot get a decent match. I have sample packs of their concealer and nothing works. Ditto for their skin tint. They need to simplify and go to a straight warm, cool, neutral system to reduce confusion such as what you document in your video.

  • @Lulu-Walker

    I hope this one will arrive in the UK. It looks like a good foundation and I found out they have olive undertone among the light shades which it’s very unusual. I’d like to try 160. Very good video, I really appreciate the effort and hard work you put in it. I could feel your frustration, trying to find your right match. You guys in the USA are very lucky to be able to return items, something not possible in here.

    • @TheHoodedLid

Just the way she reacts to seeing the wrong color foundation on and asking Kosas if they have to have a “ little talkie talk about, stuff?” LMFAO!!! OMG! I wish this was more helpful but I am still confused about what color to get. I hate to buy the wrong one and have to return and wait for new one. Sephora foundation matching system told be buy 200. I ignored it. It looked way to dark. I looked at lighter shades and took Shelby Wilson’s advice to go cool tone even though I’m more neutral. I ordered light + cool 180 with cool pink undertones. After wearing two days I think I luckily chose the shade I needed. It’s a very pretty foundation I would prefer a more neutral undertone but it plays so much better with my very dry mature skin than any other medium foundation.

    Love this video! I also had color issues with this foundation. I tried it in 160, 170 and 190 and none of them looked right. You and I have very similar coloring and like you finding a true neutral shade is so difficult. 170 was probably the closest for me but it still looked odd. I'm surprised you were able to wear this foundation, I found it so beautiful at first but then dried me out a few hours later.
    By the way, there's a new foundation out from No. 7 called Restore & Renew Serum Foundation I think you may like. I bought it at Target and it reminds me of my holy grail, the CYO Lifeproof Foundation. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

    I’m a light neutral. Knowing Kosas runs very yellow, I got 120 which is supposed a be cool shade. In my opinion it’s neutral, no pink at all. I watched Shelbey Wilson’s review and she got the same color I did. She’s also neutral. Kosas is a great brand, but their color system is awful. I do love this foundation, great for dry skin!

    Now I am super nervous! I wish I had seen this video before I re-ordered. I purchased 170 the first time hoping it was actually neutral! It was really yellow on me and a bit light. I ended up with 200, which hasn’t arrived yet. I think I should have gone with 180 that is neutral pink. Their colors are so hard! It took me forever to get a concealer match. I really loved the foundation though! I used it for three days and made it work with other products. Thanks for the review! I should have asked if you were doing this foundation and waited!!

      I am so sorry - it just took me forever to get the colors and then I was waiting for the last color. Finally, I decided to just do a day with each color. Next time I'll post in the community page if I'm working on something that will be out later than most of the other creators. I think the best for me was the mix of 200 (what a weird color!) and 140. But because on camera things came look different, I decided to do that combo again today, and I do think that's the best for me!

      I think the Nars might be more up your alley. If you haven't already, take a look at my review. It's another brand that doesn't have a good match for me, but it might for you. Also, take a look a Jamie Paige's review (I THINK it was her review). Unless I'm crazy, I think she said it didn't look good after a few hours. Jamie does have dry patches, though and that could have been the problem.

      I love the Nars so much and was so excited for the Kosas but I'm really having trouble deciding on colors. I thought 200 looked best but after this, I'm not so sure. As for the Fenty, I enjoy it from time to time, mainly in the summer when I need a less dewy foundation, as it's much more of a soft matte. Sad I may have to wait on a more colors to be released.

    Hello, I think you should have tried 150, I know you do not necessarily want a pink undertone since you have a reddening to your skin, but sometimes companies will say such as this 150 "light ,with cool pink unndertones." They fail to explain that they include a pink to cancel out the red in your skin. Since you have reddening you do not actually want the yellow neutral colors you want a pink or a blue green diffuser color. I know on camera it looks different, go to a sephora and try out a color that has a cool pink under tone, try on your neck it is the closest to you your facial skin. Let me know if you tried this . I love your video's honesty, I just turned 50 and you are my favorite. ❤

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  Před 2 lety

      Hi Loretta - I have tried pink undertones in the past and I just don't like them on me. I do have a lightly yellow undertone and I prefer a truly neutral color - for instance the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin in 4 has a nice balance. But this line doesn't have a color that's really neutral as far as I can tell. If you take another look at my arm swatches - there's a big jump between all these shades and the 200. I think they need something lighter than the 200 and really neutral for someone like me. Cheers!

      @@TheHoodedLid Like you, I normally wouldn’t consider rosy. But I understand what the viewer is saying here. Their cool shades are likely not very cool, since then tend to lean yellow, and in fact may actually be neutral. Or at the very least we may have to mix a cool shade with our warm shade to get a true neutral.

  • @carolynlindenmayer3577

    I liked 170 and 180 on you. It really does look beautiful on your skin. I like the finish of this one. I've heard that Kosas shades do run yellow, so I don't really feel that the 180 pulled too pink at all, well at least on camera. I hope you've been able to decide on a shade and return the others? Did you try 150? I swatched it in the store today. It says cool pink undertone but don’t be scared off by that because I found it to be the most neutral of all the shades I swatched. The 140 said neutral subtle pink undertone and it wasn’t the slightest pink in my opinion. It was slightly warm leaning - almost a subtle olive undertone so yeah their foundation definitely leans warm.

I am very similar to her coloring so may try this foundation in this color. #170 and #190 on you...IMHO...look too yellow. Why would a “clean“ brand pump their product with fragrance?? I’ll stick with the Nars Deauville and CT 4N! My gosh, if Nars (NARS! 🤯) is more neutral, what does that tell us about Kosas??
