I ordered my ally x last night. I’m going to be selling the deck because anything I want to do on the deck (outside of steam and even sometimes in steam) I need to watch a CZcams on how to accomplish it when so many things are just made for windows.
just install windows on deck it works just fine been running it for over a year now. Takes a small amount of elbow grease in the beginning but after that its basically seamless

@@JohnRodriguezVodnikHOTS Windows on Deck is nice on the original model (I have a dual boot myself) but I would be careful about recommending it for anyone with the newer OLED models due to the driver issues, including the most annoying one being that there is no audio driver for it on Windows which causes the deck to have no audio coming from the speakers.

This was A very fair take on the ROG ally Asus situation. Me too, I haven’t had any bad situations with Asus RMA so it’s unfair for people to generalize and just assume Asus has done every customer wrong. And my Asus rep told me the same thing about the SD Card. They said that the initial installation they used the wrong PCb or wrong wiring, it’s a dumb mistake but a easy fix, hence why they never admitted that there’s a problem with the ROG ally. I wish the world and CZcamsrs wouldn’t have sheep mentality and just cover things fairly.
At $750 i think the ally x wouldve been a no brainer. But i think the value is there vs. the 256gb deck brand new from valve even for 800. Double the price for double the refresh rate and better colors/contrast, vrr, 50% more ram, double the battery, 4 times the storage, and what like 50% better performance depending on the tdp? Seems fair to me.
The OG Ally MSRP is $699 with 512 gb of storage. It cost me another $100 to upgrade my NVMe to 1 tb ssd. Total of $799 MSRP. The Ally X, with more ram, bigger battery, and 1 tb 2280 NVMe retails at $799. Seems fairly legit price for those upgrades.

24 GB will be a game changer. I use games which require a lot of memory like Valheim or Enshrouded. It is really hard to optimize games where players create own content. I set UMA buffer to 6 GB video, 10 GB system which help me a lot but it is still not enough. On this new Ally I could allocate 8-10 GB for VRAM. This will give huge performance boost in Valheim
Second big upgrade is memory bandwidth. I tested my Ally a lot and this device is limited by memory bandwidth. GPU performance doesn't scale up above 1.8 GHz. You can change power mode up to 30 watt (2.4 GHz GPU) but performance boost will be minimal. GPU can't fetch enough data to feed all compute units. New Ally X use 20% faster memory which should mitigate this problem. It won't solve it because LPDDR5X is still too slow compared to GDDR6 used in consoles but it will be helpful. GPU performance should scale up better between 20-25 watt.

Russ - GPD, and now AYA NEO has been doing occulink, which is basically the same idea as xg mobile. PCI through a cable. I use the gpd win mini as my main pc with a 3090. Works great.
I will often map "Toggle Magnifier" to R4 button to use in games.
In Belgium the Rog Ally will cost $973 (€899). That's insane. I already have the current one wich also was more expensive than the american counterpart. Tsss I wanted the upgrade but I won't let me screw over. Thx Asus. Well done!😡

I think the guys are wrong in this one. The ally x is going to be a generational leap over the other handhelds. Its going to set the benchmark for battery size and RAM. Any other handheld in the future that wants to compete, now has to have 80 kwh battery and at least 24 gb of ram.

As far as gamers that choose to hate a game before it’s released I think a lot of that is because they are swooned by their choice of CZcamsr and bandwagon with parroted conversation. I think this channel has a leg up certainly because it has multiple people giving their take on opinions. However if everyone on a panel shoots it down then that thing (game or device) is probably doomed before even launching. but I love that you guys will place bets or guesses but are always hopeful in being wrong when something smells like a bad decision for a new device or new game.
The trade in program sounds like a dream for us og ally owners.
I absolutely walked out of BB after picking up the OG Ally, thinking it was the most uncomfortable portable console I've experienced.
I love how no one is talking about how Asus gave the finger to the people that bought into the XG Mobile just for the ROG ALLY. I personally bought the 4090 model and just returned it because I still could just in time but many are stuck with an unsupported device going forward.
I don't understand the complaints about the Ally X's price. You get 100% more storage, 100% more battery, 50% more Ram, along with a ton of tweaks that OG Ally owners asked for, all for just $100 more.
I don't know that we were complaining about the price, I think we were saying that they aren't flying off the shelves at 700...
They would need some crazy customer support guarantee before I bother with another Asus product.

@@uziel900able My son has one from their TUF line it didn't make it a year without getting BSODs. Long story short I would look somewhere else with better customer service.
I believe the 3-month warranty point relates to parts that have been repaired/replaced under RMA. If a device has a 1-year warranty, but the screen breaks after 2 months, I believe they are saying that the RMA repaired/replaced screen now only has 3 months warranty on it, as opposed to what would have been the remaining 10 months originally. A lot of companies do this kind of thing and its pretty scummy. At the very least, your original warranty period should always apply, no matter how many times you send it back for RMA due to poor manufacturing standards or bad design.
I know the retroid pocket 4 pro doesn't compete in this bracket, but with how good the game streaming is, wow. What a cheap system to be able to play all my emulators + PS play for game streaming of ps games & gamepass for streaming xbox its awesome. With the streaming capabilities I get to jump up to modern games when I feel like it without having to invest a ton.

Surprised no one mentioned the 2280 SSD form factor change in the show for the Ally X, which would support up to 8TB drives and drives tend to come cheaper in that more standard form factor and in a wide variety of speed tiers.
To me besides the bigger RAM and battery, the 2280 SSD form factor change is a huge plus as well. No need for 3D printed mods to fit a 2280 like you can on the Legion Go.
As for a mid-life upgrade or sequel to the Legion Go. It has to keep all the uniqueness & options of the original Legion Go, but change the SSD size from 2242 to 2280 (support Gen 4 as well), bigger RAM either 24GBs like the Ally X or go one step further and just do 32GBs of RAM, and 80+ battery like the Ally X.... I'll pretty sold with those upgrades while keeping everything else the same.
For extras: Change Z1 Extreme chip for a more standard 7840U or 8840U equivalent so we don't have to deal with this extreme wait times on OEM drivers... let us get the regular AMD drivers from a regular AMD adrenaline app or from Legion Space if people don't want to interact with AMD adrenaline... but makes them available as soon as any other 7840U/8840U chip gets it in other platforms/form factors of any other PC.
If they want to go the extra mile, change the screen to a 16:9 Native Landscape panel to avoid the finickiness of Portrait panels with some apps/games... if not... well... it's a PC, it can be mitigated with Software and some tweaking... but at least that's fixable through software. What's under the hood is priority, and improve the speakers & maybe add an extra USB4 next to the other top one like the Ally X, while keeping the bottom one = making it 3 USB4 ports.
They would come out later with it... so it gives me hope that they have the timing advantage to 1-up the Ally X (basically copy their last homework and use the Ally X as a blueprint to further improve on the original Legion Go) further and even undercut in cost with more hardware features.

$800 seems very reasonable for this (they aren't a charity)- great mini PC and portable. Agree the Ally 1 with the IMO ridiculous proprietary eGPU option was an unforced error.

Reasonable depends on the context. If you compare it to a world without other handhelds, it would be a great price. But as a consumer, Steam deck is still just better.
Jimmy doesn’t know how to adjust settings apparently for optimization. You can play Forza 5 with med / hi settings on the Steam Deck and pull a solid 40 fps.
There is no reason to drop the settings to low as he suggested to pull 30fps.

I still have my ROG Ally on warranty period for one more month. And on the My Asus app it does not say anything about a one year extension. I updated everything and still nothing. When I click on enhance my warranty it says this product is not elligible. LOL. Mine hasn´t experienced any issues so far, but I hope they extend the warranty as they twitted!!!
I bought my Ally on release and’s although I rarely do this I purchased the best but extended warranty. I’ll probably do the same thing with the X. Can’t even imagine 80wh battery. If the steam deck oled had a battery that big I could probably play some games for well over 24 hours.

This is an odd point but OverWatch originally was leaning more towards the MOBA FPS then just FPS. OverWatch 2 has dramatically shifted that so it's less team-oriented as in MOBA strategy and more oriented to FPS. So if a team wants to capture the original magic and success of a game in the hero shooter genre, they need to lean into the MOBA side instead of the FPS because that would fill a void in the genre rather than competing with the other hero shooters that are much more FPS oriented.
I’m a terrible consumer because I’m almost certainly going to sell my Ally for the Ally X. Same way I sold my OG Deck for the Deck OLED. I feel like the Ally X w. the Thunderbolt port can finally be my main gaming PC that fits my use case

…but honestly, about the customer “let down” thing, I just gave up on their controllers. I know I am on the minority but, controllers are not lasting once damaged. But the “damage” it’s a roll of the dice. The modules for edge are never in stock. And Sony it’s not letting 3rd party make a cheap variation. The 3 or 4 3rd party controllers are all $200. So either a $200 controller missing half the features or roll the dice again hoping you don’t get drift/triggers don’t snap… (I understand some controllers are going 3 years strong, but a lot are not… I’m on my 3rd and I take good care of mine. I might just buy the Nacon and see what happens)

You can’t compare valve to Asus valve don’t tell a customer hey you opened the device we can see a scratch here on the case, we can’t cover it because it’s your fault. Valve just replace faulty devices Asus try to charge a repair cost and want to fix parts that are not broken, comparing the two on transparency is weak.
1:53:48 im surprised no one picked up that strategy before ive noticed long ago. like this is not new. lets think for a bit, horizon was the first one to release i think, but the forbidden west got delayed so its hard to notice it at that point. but that pc release was schedule to be like a year before the sequel. ok the next one God of war released the same year as Ragnarok at that point it was clear to me: ok that is their strategy. now im going to predict ghost comes out with at the very least an announcement within a year of now based on this comments alone
like sure they have released more games on pc, but i believe their mindset is that those arent tentpole games, this ones im mentioning ARE those games and they have been kinda consistent on the release schedule to be around a year before a sequel. to me the weird one is raknarok pc release that one we dont know that more is comming, we can only asume that there is more comming

If you going to best buy get the ally. You don’t have to worry about asus warranty crap if buy from best buy and get their warranty.
Ally is also on sale on Amazon, i personally would go their for the vrr screen and better experience on windows , but if your prefer a bigger screen and detachable controllers then the legion go is a no brainer

Hello. Can you discussed about Sony implementing PSN on a single player game like God of War Ragnarok or Ghost Tsushima.
At least in ghost of tsushima it is only required for the multiplayer, and not necessary if your just gonna play the single player..
Sadly that is not the same for ragnarok which i was originally was going to get until i saw that psn is mandatory
@@サイバー狼 sad to say it's the same. They required Ghost of Tsushima to log in PSN before you can buy or play. Im dont play multi, only single player. I was planning to buy G.O.T and its on my wishlist in steam. I havent bought it coz im still hook in a game and after i finished it then i will buy G.O.T. But then i saw in my wishlist that G.O.T is unavailable and unlisted in my country in the Philippines.

I for one don't like the Switch Pro controller buttons... and I don't think it has to only do with the travel or height... but they just feel so stiff, to the point if you play a classic game or a game like Smash... short hop jumps are very hard to do in buttons as stiff as the Switch Pro controller and it's easy to overshoot your jumps... because either your very light tap doesn't register or you over-commit to the press and do a full jump instead... it's so stiff that it's unreliable to light & precise touching.
I think the Wii U Pro controller (outside of not having Gyro... and I don't remember if it had rumble) was the far superior controller... not that into the glossy finish but the feel of the D-Pad (and its size) & buttons were perfect, and the sticks were aligned just like a Dualshock where they're aren't diagonal to each other across the controller... never liked that and never like that the X360 popularized that layout to the point where most 3rd party controllers do the same layout... just to favor 1st person shooter... while I feel 2D/Retro games or even fighting games suffer not having the buttons aligned with the D-Pad.

There are way too many people that think any goofball with a microphone and a camera should be considered a journalist.

The traversal in Rise is way more fun. World is great, but Rise makes you feel like a super hero.

@@NerdNest It’s in early acess, still not officially out but I figured the boost in talking about it might help it get developed faster. Definitely a game with potential considering they made the best metroid games with Ori.
