I love your breakdown. As an anti-theistic, absurdo-nihilistic person my self, this song feeds the hollow of my nothingness.
Comment of the fuckin week!
Nice.
It is a shame that you can't understand so many non-English speaking bands which are way more deep into nihilistic/misanthropic philosophy than Mgla
Being said, I have a feeling that this channel has more anti-theistic viewers than christians. Just my bet.
@HippieCycling Easy, czcams.com/video/FMJNta-okRw/video.html . No need to thank me.
No commentary about the drums? The difference between Darkside and other exponents of the genre is that he doesn´t focus only in the rhythmic aspect of the song structure, but the melody itself; He creates a second layer of melody which is there, but you have to focus on it for hearing. Both, drums and lyrics, are what made this band to sound so fresh nowadays.
+1 The amazing drumming is what caught my attention first. It really is a step up from EIF, which was already incredible. Driving the music forward, adding syncopations to the melody and adding power with every fill and pushing everything further and further. His drumming is so incredibly expressive. Even as it is (probably) very technical, it doesn't aspire to come over this way. By far my favorite BM drummer these days.
You're absolutely right!
Yes ! Darkside is doing some insane stuff with his drumming. What he is doing with Kriegsmaschine is also crazy. More technical, maybe "colder" than what they do with Mgla, but also seriously impressive. You can tell it's him playing after only a few seconds.
@@SelfPL I agree! I am an amateur drummer and I simply love the lightness of his touch on those cymbals. Someone likened it to mercury rain, found that a pretty descriptive comment. He is just incredible!
there's no drummers like Darkside in black metal scene. Sure, he has a great personality
Darkside is such a dope drummer.
It is frustrating how people can't get the astonishing usage of cymbals by Darkside. Really! ¬¬
As a drummer myself, this guy is the best, Having skaking hands with him, he IS the best. Carry on.
@@livingdeadfrank671 , I'm jealous! He's one of my top three favorite drummers. Soooo good.
@@vicenteraira Well, everyone is talking about that.
I'm not a drummer but it's obvious how great he is, especially his musicality
love to see you like Mgła:) cheers from Poland guys!
New Mgla?! MY BODY IS READY.
Yeah, gotta agree with Vin. In black metal, the wall of sound that trem picking makes is basically a cacophony of eerie sound that often is used as a canvas or backdrop to the other elements of the song (namely the vocals). Mgla does this exceptionally well.
Yeah, not to mention that this is just the ground work, the pillar structure behind the music of BM. Its not like everything is just this, like Sori mistakenly thinks(she really doesn't get music over all, or does she?), but its the background wall of sound that carries the musical ideas.
Then you have the Darkside's drumming which geniusly rises complexity in a very subtle way, but in a very powerful way just like the bass adds to the wholesomeness and warmth to the sound. You have amazing vocals as always and you have very memorable melodies and progressions on the front lines.
Its a really great amazing song and Ive only listened to it three times. Mgla is the band which creates the nihilistic atmosphere better than all other, has melodic lines that on one hand motivate you and empower you but on the other suck your soul away, the tone is subtle, raw but the mix is still clear which again really helps with the atmosphere without sacrificing the production quality, which is very high for BM as always. Then we have the lyrics, which are some of the best poetry Ive ever read.
I will always put Mgla on par with Opeth when it comes to musical and songwriting genius and Opeth is in my opinion up there as the perfect metal band.
You described it perfectly. The riffs are like a tsunami of black energy swallowing everything around. It is repetitive, hypnotic, massive and inescapable.
I can't stretch enough how majestic this wall of sound is.
@@berserker8884 It is frustrating how people can't get the astonishing usage of cymbals by Darkside. Really!
imagine being denied a mgla concert in germany because of antifa.
happened to me. never was this mad towards them.
"missed the right tree"
donated my ticket money towards mgla though..
always will support them.

David Martin Portmann kubasnian was being sarcastic. Even, i thought you also were.
Metal gives us a hope of immortality in the nothingness
...where there is none
your enthusiasm makes me so happy, vin!
Same!
Vin and Sori, Thanks for explaining the lyrics so clearly. They're not a typical Black Metal band singing about the devil's dominance. Their lyrics are on social changes, people's doubts and nihilism of the world nowadays.
Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱
You are very popular here (you know, we live in an extremely religious country 😀).
Nice!!! Long live Poland!!!!
@@VinAndSori Thank you!!! I have never expected you would ever answer or love my post! You guys have made my day (night, actually. It's 02:41 am here) Thanks again. God bless you Guys! You rule!!!
The way mgla write their guitar parts always blows my mind. The overtones of the harmony and the undertones of the dissonance work together to evoke a sense of hopeful melancholy, and the perfectly poetic nihilism in the lyrics is a thing of pure beauty. Plus darkside's drumming just moves everything along at a furious pace. Listening to mgla is comfort food to me - the comfort of knowing that nothing matters, but that's ok. EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK
Its my favorite Band.
Lyrics and Instrumentals are genius, and so meaningfull.
Mgla just killed it, as always.
And the Reaction here was just amazing.
Thanks for the explanation of some Lines.
My favorite band alongside Infant Annihilator.
@@clitoralrosary9474 lol
Wow! Great reaction/review, with great insight into the lyrics. Would absolutely love to see an interview.
The best band of the last 15 years
It´s just a pleasure to watch you listening to music i love too. I get tears in my eyes and feel connected. Thanks!
Sometimes it´s little different things that make songs connect to you you can not explain with words. I totally agree with Vin in this case...again :)
WHAT?! New release. Damn, good thing I watch your vids
Love your reviews. And I love how much you are into this band, Vin. I too, am infatuated with this band.
This is an amazing song again from MGLA! They are coming to Bulgaria on 22nd of September and I cannot wait to see them live!
this band revived black metal, pure geniuses
Guys please continue with your videos for ever love you so much ♥️
Fucking kings of mature Black Metal are back after 4 looooong years of unbearable hibernation!
Every second was worth the wait! Their pale crown of nihilist majesty is kept over their haunting head.
Everything that consolidated them as one-of-a-kind musical crafters is there: the detailed and fruitful usage of cymbals, "tsunamic" guitar riffs that delivers all the meaninglessness of our earthly journey in this scorched world and the lyrics... ah... the lyrics... these are a chapter by their own... for me, it is one of their best poetic approaches of their thematics.
I am in awe! I just need this album for yesterday!!!
Awesome review on this new track, keep up the good job guys, cheers 🤘🍻
Well done, guys! Awesome song, timely video! Well done, Village!
Powerful music. I very much align with Vin's interpretation of the lyrics, minus one point regarding the line "So that the hoax can proceed, ever sidewards." I understood this line to mean that the hoax of human existence follows a path neither forward (heaven/salvation) nor back (hell/damnation), but rather in an irrelevant direction that inevitably leads to nothingness. I can vouch for Vin's assertion that the lyrics of this song are the embodiment of a nihilistic world view void of faith. I think M's writing is a significant part of Mgła's reach, as I find his lyrics to be immediately and profoundly relatable, and believe many others feel the same.
Oooooo yes good point!!
Wonderful song from a wonderful band! Love to hear your opinion on this!
Lyrics :
The stench of zeitgeist
Is the incense of discarded shrines
As the corpses put on powder and rouge
So that the hoax can proceed
Ever sidewards
A cheaped out incarnation into a shopworn sarx
The soul congeals into a grimy lump
Substance of the world, dreary and pale
At the feet of a spirit detached
Between the grinder and the abattoir
Such are the landscapes of grief
Grayness and glitz
Glitter and gehinnom
Between tedium and fright
Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels
A sacrifice to the gutter gods
Squandered redemption, misplaced grace
As an ailing mole burrowing in Eden
Living, breathing, downfall
Between the grinder and the abattoir
Such are the landscapes of grief
Grayness and glitz
Glitter and gehinnom
Between tedium and fright
Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels
It's a land of sun gone down
In a comical grandeur
A sluggish danse macabre
Hyenas waltzing about
Would a new flood please finally come?
A real rain and an assortment of plagues
And when all is said and done
Even the Devil won't care enough to spit in the mud
Mgła is like vodka from Poland, there is no other! you dont must like black metal but when you listen Mgła you start like black metal :]
Thank you for your analysis
I hope you will eventually react to all of the songs of Mgla's new album. I enjoy Vin's interpretation of the lyrics sm.
Thx for our flag in the title, I'm from Poland and I really appreciate that! 👍🏻
I have never heard such beautiful melodies before. Mgla are masters of the black metals genre. Rhythm and especially drumming is perfection and all albums are pure listening pleasure. The title is "Age of excuse" excelent chosen.Vin and Sori Age of excuse II is a good choice for your soundcheck....Mgla now and forever friends
6:01 darkside slamming those cymbals it sounds like swords fighting
I'm a native American from Albuquerque NM, I've Really enjoyed listening too magla, one of my favorite band from Poland. They're have talented musicians. Love to see them live someday.
Just a correction: It's Mgła (pronounced MM-goo-wah [The M is like the m in milk])
i dont usually watch reaction videos, but for you guys' Mgła reaction, I make an excuse.
Plaga - Traby Zaglady
It's really similar to Mgla, really good song!
That entire record is awesome.
This band is fucking AWESOME!
Yep Plaga is an interesting band. Their ex-vocalist was a bit boring to listen, but looked like fucking ogre.
Those bands are the best
Furia and Stwórz are other amazing bands of the Polish scene
Love Vins love for black metal
What a review... You have faith and we have MGLA !! They keep doing their thing, I spent some them, with the man, they KICKED ass, all the best to you and them !!!
Noice, it's amazing for me, that so many people from around the world feel that there is something really special about Mgła. Greets from PL;)
You should do a reaction to Advent Sorrows "pestilence shall come." Your analysis on finding a presence of God in these black metal songs has really made me rethink my faith when listening to them, instead of the obvious nihlistic points, maybe there really is a deeper meaning. Thank you.
Yeah great song too
You actually say Mgła and not Mgla... RESPECT!
Btw get into the icelandic black metal scene! I know you would LOVE Misþyrming for example. Their new album is getting rave reviews everywhere
I agree! When you lose your faith, this is it what you have left.
I would add to music, that it is dark and it keeps continuing the same chords until there is the melodic part which of course sounds divine at that point.
I really like the lyrics because of it those are like you guys said, very dark and about humanity. That's what I am following in my music also.
great review. Lyric interpretations starts at 21:09 thank you for sharing your toughts, it confirms some thoughts. Keep it up!
This review is so great
Black metal is not really my cup of tee - but that drummer is good.
New album just came out today. Available on CZcams and Bandcamp for now. You've got to react to AOE VI next. The last 4 minutes of that song will blow your minds.
Great reaction! Thank you! Kriegsmaschine - Residual Blight please!!!
Those drums, man.
@@nintenjoel Hell yeah
Just watched them live here in Bulgaria and it was the show of the year for me. They are great and I was able to even take a picture with them and my wife! The fact that Mikolaj writes and records the songs and the lyrics is amazing and the whole band is a well greased machine! Greetings and thank you for the great reaction videos!
Should listen to the whole album it gets better as ya listen :) glad to see your channel is still going strong I show it to everyone I can blessed be
One of the greatest bands to exist.
Mgla are in my favorites.🤘 Good analysis of the song.
When I was younger we were forced to go to church. I remember being really religious in the Christian sense but I kept having questions that no one wanted to answer(or could answer). Because it would force them to question their faith. As a kid I probably read the Bible more than the adults in your family so I noticed contradictions and such.
I remember breaking down in my sophomore year of highschool because I couldn't keep ignoring things that I disagreed with. Friends didn't understand because they didn't come from a religious family. People just seem to not question things, no disrespect to them. I felt that I was somewhat disconnected from them so i would only go because it was somewhat of a family event. Plus I was a teenager.
I feel that a lot of Black Metal guys were probably raised in a very religious or strict religious family. I feel that asking your child if they want to be a part of whatever religion you happen to be is more healthy than just forcing them. It just builds resentment. I don't hate Christians, and nihilism I don't believe in. I do hate those blind followers like Westboro Church or those people who say I'm going to Hell.
Morals to me are more important to teach to my son because it's based on being a decent human being despite your religious affiliation or lack thereof. You can't force someone to believe or not to believe in something. Whatever path they choose is up to them.
I'm more spiritual myself, I prefer to follow my heart as that tells me what's right. As a musician I see my purpose is making music people can relate to. (Also spreading good vibes when I go to a social gathering.) Because when I die they can still feel comfort or derive entertainment from it. Plus it makes me happy regardless. All the lil' things make me happy For me it's live life as you want, don't be terrible to others.
I also was like you Vinn, a missionary for my church who taught, converted and baptized many, and I always enjoyed black metal lyrics although I didn’t share it’s beliefs. But All it takes is one happening to nullify your faith, for me it was a series of events.
Anyways, MGŁA is the shit bruh ! If it wasnt for them I wouldn’t have discovered yalls page, and if it wasnt for this upload, I wouldn’t be headbanging to this new joint today 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Vin is far too stubborn to ever reject his holy boss.
Always great videos guys! Keep it up!
I would like for you to make a reaction of Nadiwrath “no pity for your kind” Be Blessed!
So will You react to Kriegsmaschine, also from Darkside and M? Two albums Enemy of Man and Apocalypticists are VERY GOOD !
Another great Polish black metal band is In Twilight's Embrace and their las album called Lawa. :) It's about Slavic ritual called Dziady (Forefathers' Eve). "Żywi nieumarli" for example :)
You guys shall check out Kriegsmaschine if you haven't already... it's another band of the guys playing in Mgła and since M is again the author of music and lyrics you can expect equally exceptional quality of both. I recommend you "None shall see redemption" song from the album "Enemy of man" for starters.
I love this guy, he just explains how much I love Mgla
I been waiting for this! If it wasnt for MGLA, Batushka and Advent Sorrow I wouldn't even be listening to Black Metal anymore but these guys bring me back everytime.
Vin and Sori love you all.
Sept 05: I just ordered CD! at moment my favourite band (sound) together with Kriegsmaschine, Martwa Aura, Szron! ciao from Italy (Roma/Viterbo)
Such a Beautiful song,,
M is the Friedrich Nietzsche of our age.
Calm down
So when are you doing another one of the new tracks? Full album is out!!!!
Refreshing to see this ... Great interpretation
This album will be great. It will take me into a journey just as other Mgła albums. This is so simple and so perfect at one and the same time.
Those lyrics reminds me the world shown in epic Comic 'Szninkiel' (Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel) by Rosinski/Van Hamme. Check it out if you have an opportunity - you should love it if the lyrics get to you. I think the comic story really corresponds to great nihilsm/christianity balanced reflections of Vin in this video. Man, you really made a job here… never heard such a gold and mindfull synthesis of those two opposite philosophies worlds!
You should try paying more attention to drummer in every Mgła song especially cymbals. You should try Kriegsmaschine Residual Blight. Wide project of Mgła, yet equally incredible.
Zgadzam sie! Pomijanie talentu Darkside'a to sprawa dla prokuratury!
I think the "proceeding sideways" is about movement without progression. You neither come closer to a goal, neither you gain distance. It is a futile act.
This fits perfectly to the repetitive and entrancing soundscape of Mgła.
I got exactly the same interpretation. it is a very smart usage of the made up word "sidewards" (you wrote "sideways" hehe).
I love how you guys hate SJW, "Progressivism", Political Correctness stuff. Seems like you guys are extremely open minded, non-sheep people. Keep killing it
M8, I am glag to hear that you like that band... Most of people think that we poles are only catholics...
Dig in yt and find more polish stuff... Cheers
author of graphic is Zbigniew Bielak - this one who created last Ghost album cover :) good for Mgła :)
Kriegsmaschine - Residual Blight. It’s a side project of two members from Mgla
There's also this other side project
Frontman and multi-instrumentalist Mikołaj Żentara (“M.”) has a solo project, Leichenhalle, that released an album called Judenfrei (“Free of Jews”) and featured song titles such as “Jerusalem in Flames,” “Different Solution,” and “China Scum.”

Amazing album, best album of the year so far.
Ok, I’m really baffled that you haven’t covered anything from Kriegsmaschine yet. Minding how much you enjoy Mgla, one would expect the guys either from trve kvlt or underground would have requested something already - what gives? :)
I would be really interested in hearing your take on The Other Death from Kriegsmaschine’s latest album, Apocalypticists. In my humble opinion, that track has some of the most profound lyrics M. has ever written.
Cheers!
The face-melting cymbal work on here, out of this world... For very discerning ears only.
really appreciate the reaction ahahah! As for the song, nothing to say. MGLA is the non plus ultra of BM bands today. Really good lyrics and music.
best video. love mgla! :)
MGLA is the soundtrack to my pointless existence. In their art, I feel an understanding of this that I dont get from the humans I encounter on a daily basis. I would like to get yalls take on the song Snakes And Vultures from what is often considered a MGLA rip off band, UADA. It also speaks to me very strongly. AMSG! 218
brokenwithin38 I just saw Uada live and have to say they’ve come into their own and are absolutely amazing in person. More showmanship than Mgla actually. I loved Mgla first of course though
Uada is great too. I agree theyve come into their own. Djinn is a good one I couldnt see Mgla making. Love Purging Fire and Cult of a Dying Sun too
uada and mgla can co-exist. they're both good
And as we listen to the songs, our Egos writhe in spasms of insight

They have a really sick Pantera/Hell Yeah vibe to them, but with their own sound. Real southern/Texas metal sound that truly kicks ass!

It is crazy, you are right bro
My wife was exactly like her the first time she heard mgła and other black metal band she said to me oh its sound exactly the same all the time.
To solve that problem i took her to a Mayhem show and the look she give me at the end of the show i knew exactly right at this moment she really begin understanding what was the Black metal since this show she is hook on Black metal.
After Mayhem this yeas she saw Uada, Rotting Christ, Borknagar, Abigail williams ect ect and now like me she almost married to Black metal
