Satyricon's First three albums are actually untouchable in quality. So good
Frost! Amazing drummer! How Sori doesn't find this epic is beyond me. I think black metal is something she just doesn't get
i guess im randomly asking but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot my password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Jamari George instablaster :)
@Justus Yael I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Justus Yael It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
@Jamari George glad I could help xD
Mother North IS the definition of epicness
I saw Satyricon live this year. Mother North performance gave chills and goosebumps. Pure energy
Bathory - A Fine Day to Die
Swedish black metal pioneer from the 80s!
Along with Oden Rides Over Nordland of course.
As they spoke of the Christening of Scandinavia in this clip, a better suggestion might be "One Rode to Asa Bay", which is about just that :)
Definitely, some Bathory would be nice
Norwegian
Bathory is from Sweden mate
You both will find it awesome, their new era song: SATYRICON - Phoenix (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) feat. Sivert Høyem
Oh hell yes! Sivert is amazing as well. Check out Sleepwalking Man.
Hell yeah, they really should try to figure out this one , live with Sivert Høyem. (czcams.com/video/i5GhFL0OWq8/video.html) . And K.I.N.G - for the contrast, lol.
YEESS great choice 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@btemp2003 indeed. Sleepwalking man, my thieving heart studio live... Great stuff. He has such a pleasant voice!
Guy Simple:
That's just the concert with added studio sound.
I rather have them react to the real live version. :) czcams.com/video/VhoHnKuf-HI/video.html
I love how you are basically turning into heavy metal fans XD
Fabio1349 ... already were. At least Vin already listened to stuff like Metallica.
It's a black metal
@@gebrechlichkeit7665 oh, really?
Amon Amarth - Thousand Years of Oppression
Bathory - One Rode to Asa Bay
Týr - Hold the Heathen Hammer High
YES! All of tthose!
Mildly Grumpy Same here!
I think they should also do Tyr - Wings of Time: czcams.com/video/dR5_ifgxJpU/video.html&feature=share
@@ThorsShadow great songs
Even the normal version is epic as fuck. Always gets me pumped up.
I'm a wicked Norse heathen but I could never kill someone over my beliefs. This video really hit home.
This is the hymn of the north, not everyone can resonate to this!
I prefer the original honestly. The chorus just makes it less raw and sincere sounding. The original sounds cold and way more threatening.
Hypocrisy - Roswell 47
Forty seveeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!!! \m/
gonna see them live soon here in sweden
Lucky!
I am so happy you two reacted to this epic and amazing song! So many memories. I appreciate Sori's honesty, perhaps she would enjoy their later black and roll style like 'Fuel for Hatred' or 'Die by my Hands live version from this same concert'. Vin, you felt it brother and it was great. Love you both!!
God damn I love Satyricon! Frost is such a bad ass drummer.
Masterpiece.
It's amazing how choirs and/or orchestras fit in Black Metal.
I respect Sori's opinion, different strokes for different folks I guess but this song sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it, from the first time I got the album in the 90s up to this day. You ought to try more recent compositions from this band, give it another chance! Black crow on a tombstone maybe? Or something like King or the live version of Phenix. Cheers and may your god bless you both.
Modern satyricon is killer too
If they just liked every song and gave them all high scores, this would be a boring channel, I love that they're all over the board and can polarize each other. I think Vin needs to get his ass to Norway.
I agree with Sori, it was fucking boring. I've heard this version for the first time and it sounds like a pile of garbage. Orchestra and choir killed misty, dusty and frosty atmosphere of the song. Guitars were buried in the mix, bass is non-existent, you can only hear vocals (Satyr's and and fucking choir), drums (the only instrument, that is properly mixed) and strings.
Comparing this to original, album version is like Cold Lake vs first two Celtic Frost albums.
I wonder, what would be Sori's reaction to official video.
Cmon man we all know Nemisis Davina was their peak in creatively
Black Crow on a Tombstone is badass that whole album is badass
what a fantastic perfomance by one of the BM forerunners, I really appreciate you featuring this song!
Dissection - Thorns of the Crimson Death or The Somberlain
epiccod, fuck yeah!!
I agree on Thorns
Both are amazing
Thorns all the way. It's a perfect song.
Thorns of Crimson Death is one of the best black metal songs ever composed. Literally a top 10 All-Time black metal song. I'd also throw Mother North in there.
This the first black metal song that I really “got” while hearing it, beyond the music itself......like felt in my chest, this cold and foreboding feel, but also weirdly powerful and almost ancient.
After that kinda clicked I moved onto other black metal in a whole different way, even stuff I had heard before and not liked.
The original is obviously not with the chorus but it’s perfect to see this way for people not already into bm- kind of helps with the vibe I guess.
Cool - I actually was at this show! You can see me a couple of times 🤘🏻
For sure in my top 10. Amazing track, i get goosebumps everytime i listen to it.
Ive been waiting so long for this. Thank you so much!
King Diamond At The Graves
Great choice! This to me is one of the most memorable performances ever and I can watch this any day, any time.
This is when someone says...Iron Maiden: seventh son of a seventh son
Katatonia - Leaders
Bathory - Enter the Eternal Fire.
This is one of the staple live songs at a Satyricon concert. I've been to 3 of them thus far, during my time on this earth, and it's always epic and gives me goosebumps each time that melody line where the crowd sings along starts!
King Karl the great swear to christianized all german tribes, from 772 ad till 802 He fight against the Saxon, cause they wont be Christians and killed thousends of Saxons. It was a bloody war done by a Christian King. Regards from Germany.
Damn
I am German
Immortal -beyond the north waves
This was the song that got me into black metal, never looked back.
Yeah bro one of my favourites too but, I feel in my kingdom cold would be better look into the true essence of black metal
YES YES AND YES
MY DYING BRIDE "The Cry of Mankind"
"She is the Dark", "My Hope, the Destroyer"
"The Sexuality of Bereavement"
"Your Shameful Heaven", "Your River"
They have not yet, to my knowledge, done MDB. This is a must as they are doom metal pioneers. I would add Catherine Blake because the lyrics are so amazing. The Dreadful Hours is so epic - right up there with She is the Dark.
+1 for The Cry of Mankind
Sori would definitely get bored of Cry For Mankind lol
Where's the love for old MDB when they were death metal? Songless Bird, Return of the beautiful or Thrash of naked Limbs.
Yeah, I think you called it!
Holy shit you eating Smørbukk ?? Haha that was my favourite childhood candy:) greetings from Norway 🛡⚔️
I have connections
Pens!
Cultural appropriation, haha. Smørbukk is nice, but it ain't got nothing on salty licorice even though Sori doesn't like it. Interesting reaction, I like how you disagree sometimes. I was at this show and I must say that the video doesn't do it justice. Then again, the atmosphere/ambience in the opera House is amazing.
Also, since you guys enjoy Vikings so much I reckon you should check out Windir: Arntor. They (he) were amazing and played Viking/black metal with lyrics from his hometown.
Mildly Grumpy 1184 is a good choice too. Although I reckon Arntor is the true classic 😀
Type O Negative - Everything Dies
Psychostick - Die... A Lot
Most under rated Type O song ever
Everyone I Love is Dead
Wolf Moon. The lyrics reaction would be awesome.
Great song. Also the song Red Water, Life is Killing Me, In Praise of Bacchus, and Love You To Death.
Love the facial expressions from some of the choir. A few of them seem quite amused by the fact that they're taking part in this.
Immortal - The sun no longer rises (live Wacken Festival 2007)
S E P T I C F L E S H
Portrait of a headless man (official video)
Anubis
Prometheus
Virtues of the beast
Martyr
Sangreal
Vampire from Nazareth
PLEASE! And thank you very much!
I CANNOT DECIDE WHICH IS BETTER!!!! 😅
@@gojirarules1547 Portrait of a headless man is better. Believe me😉
Virtues of the Beast and Rising too please! I just realized I'm requesting that you request something :D
that emojis lmao
You should react to the original Black Metal video on this - it's a classic!
Also - Frost is one of my top 3 favourite drummers ever, He's not a technical master, compared to say Roddy, Kollias, Flo or Nieljstrom - but there is something raw and visceral about his drum style that no one else comes close too - it's like the musical embodiment of Hate and Anger - I love it!
Agree, org. Vid would have been better choice
I feel the same way about frost. I love the look.in his eyes when he drums it looks like hes conveying raw animalistic rage or hatred
Wow!
Thank you for that video!
Thank You Guys...I've been waiting for this since the beginning.
My absolute fave satyricon, now i'm hyped for some Immortal, you must give some BIG Love for Abbath ma dude, literally the comedian of black metal in the best possible sense....
🤣👊
Dismal Euphony - An Autumn Leaf In The Circles Of Time
Ah yeeeesss finally! Thanks a lot!
Very interesting observations about the lyrical content. Great video
Never liked this version...I still prefer the original version and video. So much darker and epic in my opinion
Haggard - Per Aspera Ad Astra
Like seeing Vin enjoy and headbang to the heavy jams. Respect
I think maybe Sori had a concussion or something, because this is Carmina Burana level epicness.
she is pretty clueless about what good black metal is
Bathory - One Rode to Asa Bay
Tiamat - Wildhoney/Whatever That Hurts
Tiamat - Amanes
Been a long time since I heard them.
What a great song, and the lyrics analysis would be interesting.
Lyrics are well written but the message is very straight forward.
Love that Song
Yeahh!!! Finally!! Great reaction
My Dying Bride - The Cry of Mankind
Anaal Nathrakh - Forging Towards the Sunset
Anaal Nathrakh - Between shit and piss we are born
Yes! My dying bride! I second yer choice although I like the older stuff better. I'd suggest songless bird.
i like Songless Bird more as well, but they have so much good songs so any choice is a good enough choice. "The Whore, the Cook and the Mother" might be my personal favourite of My Dying Bride
Candlemass- Solitude live with Messiah Marcolin!
Can you like my comment as well? I made a 5 Doom bands list, including Candlemass.
Thanks. :)
Dammit, haha, should have went with official video. With the axe to the cross intro. XD
Cool it's been a long time coming
Absolutely loved watching this! When i discovered Satyricon/black metal late last year i'm pretty sure i listened to Live at the Opera multiple times a day for nearly a month. So glad i get to see them next week down in Australia! Thanks for finally reviewing some Satyricon!
Have you considered listening to Nergal's country music project?
"Cross My Heart and Hope to Die" by Me and That Man
I saw Satyricon live for the first time a few months ago, I was hesitant because I´m not like super fan of the band. But when I saw their live show I was mesmerized by their quality as musicians, also because they are really important in the black metal scene.
And the main riff is just PERFECT.
Love the vid as always! And guys, some of us are still waiting for more Type o Negative!
Great talk. Sori, maybe listen to the studio version on your spare time, and see if you like it better. Despite how bombastic this live version is, some nuances and variations were lost from the original, especially in the guitars. It is a fantastic song, really, the whole album is actually awesome..
I agree, this version is excellent but I think I appreciate it even more because I know the original and can still follow along the parts that are somewhat drowned out by the choir etc.
Great reaction guys ! The whole performance was really great, Frost, what can I say ? He totally gave 200% in this performance, absolutely amazing. And the whole orchestra gave a felling of even more epic to the song. And I LOVE the riffs of this one, specially the first two riffs.BUT, Satyr voice totally gone, what is really sad, he had great screams back in the day, but this don't ruin the performance of course (at least not in that case).
Please guys react to some more Dissection ! The live performance of Night's Blood would be amazing (great lyrics too)
FROSTTTTTTTT!!!!!!
Love Frost so MUCH
Best drummer ever imho
Absolutely fantastic that concert (Phoenix was nuts).
I think at one stage the conductor looks at Frost and has a look on his face of "holy shit, is that dude human?!" lol!
@@peteanderson2533 hahaha my same sentiments anytime I watch live footage of Frost
I’ve never heard Frost make even the tiniest of mistakes. He is a machine and I hope to shake his hand one day.
@@adamvmilleroh yes, I think I would also love to meet him. He is one of the Metal drummers who's drumming is almost not human.
That was awesome. Didn’t know they did a video with an opera!
👍Primordial - Empire Falls👍
Bro time for primordial, but where to start just picking one track.. I'd say, heathern tribes, coffin ships or my personal favourite traitors gate... just so many epic primordial songs
Traitors gate for sure, Even Gallows hymn for the sorrowful, epic vibe
Empire Falls is a really good start to get into Primordial
This makes me proud to be a norweigian!
Darkthrone - Kathaarian Life Code
I know this is an old video but I just want to say that I really love you both. Your insights and sincerity and courage of heart and your discernment of the thread through time and space that leads to God. Its been very inspiring. This is a great relationship you two have, God bless you evermore.
YEEEAS I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS
And this Borknagar's pendant Vin? Nice!!!
Yup!! I’m connected!!!
can we expect a Borknagar reaction? The Earthling is my vote.
@@RikardusAm As much as I would love a good Borknagar reaction, they tend to get blocked.
Winter Thrice!
@@Rastatas69 That one will DEFINITELY get blocked 😡
IMMORTAL - SOLARFALL
maybe sori will like this better hehe
frank vaillancourt Solarfall is boombastic black metal
Yeah its a bit much, I would rather suggest At The Heart of Winter song, cuz it has the epic intro, awesome riffs and progressions
Epic . Masterpiece
Yesssss!!! Thank you guys for this video...one of the best TNBM BANDS OUT!! Frost is one bad ass drummer!! I agree Vin...this IS EPIC!!!
“F.O.A.D.” or “Too Old Too Cold” by Darkthrone.
THIS
Sori WHYYY? you gave Bring Me The Horizon a ten (like what a horrible band), and didn't feel a thing for this incredible perfomance? wooo!!!
Mother is watching
Yass! You did it!
I am Norwegian, we are a very secular country, Been in the military and been fighting for Norway in Afghanistan, before we go into "battle" we always shant: "To Valhalla"
Attempt #4 - Woods of Ypres - I was buried in mt pleasant cemetery, wet leather, adora vivos, allure of the sun, finality, alternate ending.
Please do one of them finally! Woods is a phenomenal band that im sure you’ll love. I know many non metalheads who love woods.
Great band. RIP David Gold
I think Keeper of the Ledger would be such a great song for them to react to, because of the lyrical content
YES! another good one! Honestly anything by them is great, and the lyrics are just insanely deep in most songs. Silver even has pretty good lyrics, or everything I touch turns to gold..then to coal. Either way, david gold was a person taken way too soon, wish he was around to keep surprising me with his music. I'm glad to actually find people who've heard of em, got a patch of them on my battle vest!
Still dying for your review of Bal Sagoths, Black moon broods over lemuria. Someday lol. Good review love me some Satyricon keep it up!
Pure EPIC!!
New subscriber. I strongly support the discussions and the openness to the music at hand.
WATAIN- THEY ROAD ON
Actually its "They Rode On", great song although it doesn't sound like Watain that much.
They gotta do something off of Sworn to the dark before wild hunt cmon
LINDEMANN - Praise Abort (Official Video)
Thanks for doing this one. I am going to see them next week. I liked it but I respect Sori's opinion. Keep up the awesome reactions
This tickles my darkside...love it
Unleashed - Welcome the Son of Thor
For more songs about the Christian conquest of Scandinavia.
Awesome live video! Do Amon Amarth Pursuit of vikings live at summer breeze! Or maybe By the light of the northern star by Týr, it got some interesting lyrics!
Pursuit of Vikings was best done at wacken in 2012! Killer energy ik theyll like it
'bout time🤘...and yes it is epic.
You should watch the entire concert, this is (as Vin says) the definition of EPIC! Like this is the only black metal band I enjoy listening to, as you can actually hear the words that he sings and the musicality is on such a high level to even include a choir and making it work so well with the type of music that it is.
Immortal is good too.
I started this journey of my faith a long time ago. Came across these exact comparisons. As with others. I'm in a comfortable place with God, but I'll give recognition to Odin and the other gods as well.
The riffing is just amazing in this song
"It felt very repetitive"... I chuckled at that after just watching an iconic black metal song :)
Insomnium - Winter's Gate
Very nice reaction video guys. One of my favorite Satyricon songs. Please consider Primordial - Gods of the Godless.
What a beast on them drums!
Love it forever
Baphomet by Belphegor
CRADLE OF FILTH
BEAUTY SLEPT IN SODOM
to me its their best lyric
King Vin! Always on point, smart, well . Sori? Eh...
yeah thank you , this song is really special for me , it remind me of my teenage years ! lml
