Solomon was considered a "demonologist" of sorts and was proficient in "magic". That is correct.
Solomon could talk with and command animals (Midrash Tanhuma B, Mavo; Ruth Rabbah 1:17; Eccl. Rabbah 2:25). In both Jewish and Gentile writings, Solomon could bend djinns to his will (Talmud, Gittin 68a-b; Antiquities 8:45; Testament of Solomon). He also manufactured magical devices. His ring was the key to his authority over beasts and spirits.
The Rambam also said "[Solomon] was better versed in divination and enchanting then they [the fabled "children of the East," I Kings 5:10]..and Solomon [also] was better versed in sorcery, which is the wisdom of Egypt."

@@VinAndSori Yea most any bookstore will carry the the Lesser Key of Solomon or the Goetia which is basically a grimoire on the conjuration of 72 demons which Solomon is said to have evoked.

Absolutely adore this album from beginning until end. One of the greatest musical masterpieces ever.
Is it two songs? Well, yes - and no. Alsvartr is the intro to Ye Entrancemperium. In Alsvartr he swears the oath to become one with the nightspirit, and in Ye Entrancemperium, he has been accepted and journeys into the dark lands and rises to power.
You can't have one without the other. You should probably update the title to the video though ;-)

There it is, the intro to the greatest album ever made. You should do a full listen of the whole album sometime, no need to do it on camere. Just sit in a room and take the whole thing in with your eyes closed. The level of genius is unmatched.

For me the best song from Emperor. The way it builds up during the intro and explode with "Ye Entrancemperium"... So good. I have shivers down my spine EACH time I listen to it and I have listened this album a LOT. I bought it when it came out, nearly 22 years ago (time flies so fast...) and I have listened to it hundreds of time

Absolutely brilliant track. This is why Emperor are the such legends. This is so complex, layered, atmospheric and creepy that its astonishing. Jan did the smart thing, these songs are definitely meant to be played together.
I will say I am not wildly in love with the excessive anti christian imagery in the earlier emperor stuff, but its understandable given the context. I tend more towards pagan/folk influenced black metal.

This whole album feels like drinking a good pure black coffee for me.
Just like the coffee, I didn't really like it during my first try and I dont really get it on why people praised it so much. But after tried it again and again over time, it then simply became my favourite, to the extend that I felt like I need to have its complete dose daily and enjoyed every bit of it.
You guys should check out Windir - Journey to the End, Elder - Sanctuary, and Burzum - Det Som Engang Var.
or Dauden by Windir. Or Vreid.. made some classics after they (we) lost Valfar (he was just too awesome live.. missed deeply)

I'll be honest, I haven't jammed to Emperor for a long time. I love this band!
Couldn't believe seeing (and listening) you guys reacting to this pair of songs. I've clicked so fast on the video, my windows almost broke from the sonic boom. So, thank you guys! There are tons of acoustic details in Anthems to the welken at dusk that can be discovered even after listening to this record a dozen times. Very subtle nuances and stuff happening in the background, especially in the first half of the record. If you like to listen (not necessarily reacting) to a more special piece from Emperor, give "In Longing Spirit" a try.

One of my favourite albums intro in my entire life, long live the emperor.
Just touching on the comment of spiritual power... dunno if it's that or just I love extreme metal so much, but yes when you get on a band you love and the intensity is there, I just get a feeling of unending energy almost like the music is the sun..

He drank a couple of vodkas and according to Guitarist Brian May 'completely lacerated that vocal'.
Such a powerful song and really shows what a legend Freddie is, so would love to see your reactions to it.

Aaah, _Anthems..._ the *very first* Black Metal album I bought, back in the 90s!
Be carrefull. You're talking about one of the best black metal album of a decade, the '90s, the golden age of black metal. Technically it s a perfection. Dark, ambiant, violent, extremly loud and heavy.... Ihsahn is a master of the genre. Years after years I open large ears to listen to this fantastic work again and again. Nice reacts, like each time. Love this album, it has such a beautiful dark atmosphere, it just feels so, I don't know, apocaliptyc, eternal, dunno. Seeing as you enjoy the soft/beautiful/atmospheric parts of Black Metal, it's ime you check some Post-Black metal guys. Listen to Alcest's Écailles de Lune Pt.1 and 2, you seriously won't regret it. No evil involved!

TV show of two seasons - Legend of the Seeker. It's made by Xena and Hercules people, Rami and Tappert people, and it has Bruce Spence as Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander. Check it out after you read a few of the books. It's a solid C+ for me.

The beginning is one of the best openings to a song, so dark. After he says I am the Emporer, it loses all form and structure. Just sound and fury. Maybe if I listened to it multiple times, I would possibly grow to accept it. Maybe I missed it

Hmm there was a little martial music (the militaristic marching type bit) at the start of this song. There's an entire genre devoted to that style. Triarii and Arditi being some cool projects in that scene.

There is a black majic book called "The Lesser Keys of Solomon" "The Greater Keys of Solomon" or it may be two different books, McGregor Mathers had something to do with the translation

It's funny you say Solomon was obsessed with knowledge and wisdom. Because the Norse god Odin too was one who daveled in "magic" and sorcery when it was considered a sort of taboo especially among men. Because Odin was a seeker of knowledge and did crazy things to obtain it.
