    I enjoy videos like these from your city, especially with all the narrow streets & with the fire stations on busy streets. Thank you for sharing!

    This was Ladder 9, a ‘99 Seagrave whose original cab from 1999 was burned beyond repair. She returned to quarters mere months after the disaster. Her serial number is ST0107, but her original serial number was ST99006. Her cab’s from ‘01. At the time of the disaster, she was with Engine 33, and old 33 is 513 nowadays. 513’s a ‘98.

      @@SkylerFire although not an option for being too un-American ... well maybe it would be an idea to use more compact apparatus, all-wheel steering, with less compartments and less equipment on board, different layout (no mid-mount), then it would be way easier to get into some tight spaces

      I believe its size requirements. Some houses are close to 100 plus years old

    • @zevpost1
      @zevpost1 Před 2 lety +1

      When 95 foot Aerialscopes first came out in the 1980s they initially intended to replace the fleet with 95 footers however due to size and weight restrictions in quite a few of the houses plus on some the streets as well they decided to only convert 15 Tower Ladders into 35 footers.
      Before they decided to get the 95 foot Aerialscopes they also tried out 2 Sutphen Tower Ladders and 2 American La/France /LTI Tower Ladders which were the only rear mounted Tower Ladders that FDNY ever tried in addition 2 95 foot Mack/Aerialscopes Aerialscopes. After the 95 foot Tower Ladder trials they ultimately decided to purchase 15 95 foor Aerialscopes.

      Correction. On 3rd Line of the first paragraph the number 35 was meant to be a 95 as in "95 footer". That was a typo.
