if you lose it, and I find it. I'll return the Advil
Ha ha ha! Okay. Keep the cash as my finders award.
@knifetimestory do u do orders? I'd order a set of them scales if u were selling..?
Lol
This is probably the best looking izula that I've seen. I like how the handle scales go all the way up and don't stop 3/4s up the handle.
Thank you very much! That is very kind of you! I must admit… I am very pleased with the way these turned out. When I was rigging them, I wanted there to be more handle and I think I accomplished it.
For the Cab ride home and the hangover😂...just joshing buddy..
Ha Ha!! Yep. Thanks for watching.
That's an incredible idea, now I have to figure out how to do that with one of my knives
Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that! Good luck on your project!
You can order them too, was looking at one today but went with an esee model 3
Interesting idea, my only question would be, do you have to carry a Philips head screw driver with you everywhere in case you happen to need the money or medication?
Ahhh, good question. I should do a little video on the subject. I carry a Swiss Army Knife, so that makes it easy. Also, the pull tab from your jeans fits in the slot quite well. May look odd to anyone watching, but these screws are not on super tight, so getting them loose with just about anything is not that big a struggle.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
If I were to have someone make these I would use the regular screws like he did , but I would cut the screws so it's only 1 deep line and I would carry a penny with me. Or if you were seriously stuck somewhere anything that's flat would suffice
@@alecseekins
*slotted chicago screws
Carve a stick screwdriver if it were flat head
Add a small rod magnet with north marked and a tiny bit of foam (the size of the advil) and youve got a compass. It can float in a plastic bottle cap of water.
That is a great idea! And it would fit! Thank you.
You can magnatize a sewing needle, put some vaseline from your firestarters and you have a floating compass needle.
@alfredoverno9674 The sewing needle won't be a permanent magnet. I'd hate to need it 2 years from now, and the needle does not do anything.
That’s a beautiful job, brother! 👊🏻
Thank you very much!
Awesome, ive been thinking about getting an izula 2 for a while now. Might get one now!
I highly recommend it. However… Realize that you’re not going to get those handle scales. those are my super Duper custom top-secret handmade one-of-a-kind scales.
You should make handle scales and sell them… I’d buy some
You are very kind. However… I only do this sort of silliness for myself.
Man! I love that. Would you be willing to make another set, (just the scales, I have the exact knife already) using the same screws and color? I would pay you of course. I’m 61, and have arthritis in my hands, my days of making anything for myself are long past.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I really do appreciate it. As for making a handle for you, i’m flattered that you asked, but I don’t make these modifications for other people. Just for my own use. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment! I truly appreciate it!
Beautiful craftsmanship man
Thank you. That was nice of you to say.
That's a nice ass little blade bro. I want one! Haven't gotten around to buying any Esee knives yet, but they're on the list.
Glad you like it. I love mine, but I sure do have to sharpen it all the time. I wish ESEE heat-treated their 1095 just a little higher.
That is pretty sick
Thank you !!
Love this idea I'll be doing something similar when I get my scales in the mail.
Cool. Would love to see the finished product.
Wouldnt a slot screw be better? Just thinking for options on opening it up. You may not always have a Philips around
There are two reasons why I chose the Phillips. They are rounded and provide just a little extra something to hold onto without any sharp edges that you would encounter with a slotted And secondly I use my can opener on the Swiss Army knife when I have it in my pocket and in an emergency situation. If I didn’t have that, you can use the pool tab on the zippers from your jeans. Don’t laugh… I’ve done it. At a store.
@knifetimestory ok good answer. I still think a slot is better, but hey! Thats life. I respect your choice for your needs!! Have a great day!
Very nice!
Thank you very much!
Hopefully you also carry a screwdriver
I carry a Swiss army knife in my left front pocket which would work. Also, but also works is the pool tab on your zipper of your jeans.
I like it but personally would have wrnt with different screws.
These screws are there for a big reason. Just about anything can open them. I don't want to have to fish around for a specialized tool to have to open it. Thanks for watching.
Time to start selling those scales! I’ll take green or black
They would be incredibly expensive scales. I would have to buy lots of HEST knives to get those.
But thank you for the suggestion/idea.
@@knifetimestoryso you just swapped scales off of a hest knife?
Would’ve been cooler if it were 4 Percocet
Ha ha ha. That’s awesome. Not too late to change though. I’m sure I have a few of those laying around.
😂😂😂
Is that a dpx hest fb handle cut down and fit on a izula??
Yes it is! Watch this. I go into it much more. czcams.com/video/pzelYh4Nqrw/video.html
I want one too. Maybe with another color on the handle, like bluish or bloodred. Is it possible to get one. And does it come with a good sheath?
It's just the perfect size, blade and handle.
I custom made that handle and Kydex sheath. They come with a decent sheet. And you can clip it on your belt. But there are so many aftermarket sheath makers out there we will have no problem finding one. As far as getting a handle that looks like that, you won’t. What you will find are lots of more rounded ones. They come in wood and all kinds of colors of Micarta.
Used the scales from the original DPX H.E.S.T. Nice!
Yes! Glad you like that! Thank you so much for watching!
What material are the handles made of?
Canvas Micarta
Where did you get those handles? How much do they cost?
Here is a video where I explain those handle scales.
ESEE IZULA Knife Handle Super Secret Compartment
czcams.com/video/3ACpxELDepg/video.html
I want an eseey knife
Buy one. They are a good investment. But just keep in mind… You will not ever get this handle. That is my own creation.
Better put $100 in it. $50 isn't much these days
Funny you should say that. I now have $100 bill in there!
Now if you lose it, you're out double.
Yep. That would suck.
Why’s it got dpx scales on it??
Because I got rid of the HEST but kept the scales and put them on my first IZULA back when they first came out and scales were not even a thing yet.
Pretty cool! It's a very nice looking knife and the $50 bucks can help in emergencies and the ibuprofen for any aches and pains. If the apocalypse takes place you can use the $50 to get a 12 pack and sing, "She'll be coming around the mountains when she comes." 🎵🤗😂👍
Great comment. Thank you!! I"ll have to start practicing singing.
@@knifetimestory 😂👍
You used indoor Philips wall screws....
Actually, no. Those are screws from way back when ESEE (RAT back then) provided them for attaching the spring plate to the sheath.
Should have used flat head screws so you could take it down with a coin, other than that… badass
Nope. I explain in this video why I chose what I chose:
czcams.com/video/pzelYh4Nqrw/video.html
After you watch it, you will understand better.
I dont wanna steal your thunder, that is an amazing customization. However, my laser strike has a suture kit and some.quik clot inside my handle. Cause the blade is so dang sharp. I put a 21 degree edge on it. Thanks for sharing this. Do you make custom scales for sale?
You did not steal my thunder. Only difference in our knives is that my knife can almost fit into the cavity of your Laser Strike.
I like that knife. It is underrated and does not get as much love as other models. But it really is an awesome knife.
Yeah my dad gave me his and I got that handle loaded up with fire steel 2 fishing hooks and 2 fishing lore’s and couple yards of fishing line too thing is a beast lol
Wow! You packed a whole lot into a small area. That is awesome!
Did u say you made the handles for it ?
Yes I did. I harvested candles from another knife ESEE used to make. The HEST. I did not like the knife, but I thought the handle skills were really cool. And my Izula needed handle scales. This was way back before aftermarket scales were even available. So I fit them to this knife. And have loved it every day ever since!
Why’s my paycheck in the handle?
Ha. Sorry about that. Thanks for letting me use it for the video.
looks excellent brother. do you sell them, or is it one of a kind?
Glad you like it. That is one of a kind. I’ve done a full length video about it.
@@knifetimestory ill check it out!
Now it's worth 50 bucks
Hmmm, how about $60.
dam that's a nice fixed!
Sure is! I love it and use it constantly. Thanks for watching.
Do you sell the handles ?
No I do not. I just make stuff for myself and then share the project so it sparks ideas for others to do stuff.
@@knifetimestory gotcha. I've seen people make handles like these before. I'll try and conjur up a pair
They do make aftermarket handles. But nobody has handles like the ones I made.
If all goes to hell you have enough for five tequila shots and a hangover cure.
Fantastic. I never thought of it that way. Great idea. Thank you!
@@knifetimestory anything I can do… keep up the great work!
Thank you!!!
Could have used better fasteners looks a lil ghetto with the screws lol
Well, ghetto or not, the Phillips head screw is a deliberate choice. I can easily open them with my Swiss Army Knife. Or, if I lose my SAK, I can use the pull tab on the zipper of my jeans to open the knife. Can't do that with Torx or Allen type hardware.
@@knifetimestory many multi tools come with torx bits.. it's ur knife make it how you want.
The idea is to be able to get into it with carrying extra stuff. In a true HEST sort of situation.
Broooo I want one
You can get yourself an Izula easily. But you can’t have my handles! 😁
Glad you like it! Thank you for watching!
@@knifetimestory haha do love the handles and it’s just a great combo overall
Good for fire the fifty dollars and The advil If you're lost in the woods.
Are you saying that the $50 bill is good for fire? Not sure what you meant.
That’s Bitchin’!!!!!🤘😎
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that!
Those Advil are going to suck up all of the cancer causing crap in the knife
Yes, you are right. So are my hands that I'll be using to dispense the Advil. But...my headache will be gone!!
Where’s ur screwdriver
Swiss army knife, and zipper pull on my jeans. They both work great! Look for my full length video about that whole modification and how it works.
Tell me you’re a Baby Boomer, without saying you’re a Baby Boomer 😂
Hilarious… But I don’t get it. What part of the video alludes to being a baby boomer. I’m not even sure I am. What are the years for that?
@@knifetimestory im just yankin your chain about the hidden treasures. Boomers are these angry people born between 1946-1965. I’m sure you’re not this. I should have wrote “old man”😂Even if… I enjoy your content, and you have influenced many of my purchases 👍🏻
I’m 53 BTW. Pot calling the kettle black…
I was not insulted. I just didn’t know where that was headed. No worries! Thank you very much for your kind words and explanation. I’m glad I’ve had some sort of influence on your knife purchases. Hopefully you’re happy with them!
Thank you very much for watching and commenting and explaining your comment.👍🏻😂
Aw man, is this a sign of economical calamity?
You used to have three twenties in there? 🤑
You are very observant and right. I should probably go back to that, but a single fifty fits better. But, lots of places cringe when presented with a fifty or hundred. Hmmm. Now you have me second guessing myself. Dang!
@@knifetimestory, haha, it's more than me, I never use cash, but keep an emergency twenty in my wallet.
If it costs more than twenty, I'm washin' dishes or sellin' my azz. 😆
@@Gman1024 Yikes! If I was to try and do the second part, it would take me the rest of my life to cover a $20 debt.
@@knifetimestory, haha, ditto.
@@Gman1024it’s a great idea and I used to do that same thing. Here’s my lengthy yet crazy story. I kept my $20 bill in my glove compartment tucked behind my insurance card in a plastic sleeve. I got pulled over (I was 19-20 and dumb, I went over the double yellow line past an unmarked police car driven by a captain) by a cop who was very angry and I knew a lot of cops who would go to bat for me. He was yelling and asked for my dl and registration and then he walked away and came back to ask for my insurance card 😩. I got it out of the glove box and I was fanning out the papers to hand it to him thinking there was a temporary one or the one from the previous policy. I ended up handing him the insurance card with a $20 bill and he looked at it and he looked at me and he flipped out on me bad 😮. He took my PBA card that I had received from a friend cop and said he was giving to the cop that gave it to me and ofc tickets. The cop tt me about it and gave me back the PBA card with a gentle reminder to drive chill. The captain never showed up for court which dismissed the tickets but the cops were telling me for two months they couldn’t get him to not show because he was mad as hell. It all worked out but I learned some valuable lessons that day.
Don't like blade coatings and don't like carbon steel
Initially I didn’t like blade coatings, but I like them because they help start making the knife look used and old. And I like carbon steel because it Patinaz. And the SEE is a great job heat treating this tried and true steel.
What is it about that stuff that you don’t like?
Thank you very much for watching and commenting!
good thing this EXACT knife cones in a non coated stainless supersteel, am i right David? ;)
@@zen8704 the last time I looked at ESEE knives they were all coated and only carbon steel. I'll take another look. I actually have an azula. They're good knives for sure. Thank you
@@knifetimestory I guess for the same reason you like it is because it makes it look used and old. Basically after the first use, and carbon steel tends to rust . I just prefer stainless. They're definitely good knives though, I have an izula.
@@davidmercer5561 yep, a few years ago they added S35V stainless versions of their knives to the lineup, I own an ESEE 4 in stainless, beautiful knife
So merican, knife, drugs and money..
Ha ha ha. Never thought of it that way. Well done!
I have 1 million dollars in Bitcoin and 4 grams of DMT in mine.
Wow. You are all set then. Excellent!
That was a joke dude.
I know. Hence the reply. I knew you were monkeying around. 👍🏻
