    Hi, really useful thanks. I have a fridge like this in the motorhome I just bought. What I was wondering was what might be best for when you stop for an hour or two say for a pub lunch or to visit somewhere before stopping overnight. Does it stay cold if you leave in 12v or do you generally have to switch the gas on in the locker and fire up the gas whilst temporarily parked? Cheers, appreciate any pointers. Adrian.

      It would be ok for half an hour or so, as long as you don't open the fridge door, but no longer and not if you're storing meat etc.

    Hi our 3way fridge works fine with the gas and electric but does not work with the battery have you any ideas what it is wrong thank you

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před rokem

      Hi Betty, if you mean it's not working on battery whilst the engine is on / you're driving, that is usually down to a fuse. But if you mean you're trying to operate it on battery while parked with the engine off, it won't work then, it's designed not to or it would drain your vehicle battery in no time. Battery mode is purely to safely keep your food chilled whilst in transit. Hope that helps! 😃

    Hello. Are the numbers of the spinning button the temperature (1 the coldest to 7 the hottest) or the power of the cooling system (1 the chillest and 7 the hardest) ? Thanks in advance

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před rokem +2

      Hi, we haven't owned this one for a few years but to my recollection it's a temperature control and the higher the number the colder the inside of the fridge. Setting at 4 is usually satisfactory to keep food and beer chilled.

    Will the 12 volt switch light up, mine does not, not sure if it's working off 12 volt when driving

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 2 lety

      Hi Fergus, it should light yes, but if it isn't lighting up it doesn't necessarily mean the fridge isn't working, it could just be the bulb. The best way to test the 12v really is to drive it for half an hour or more then feel inside the ice box.

  • @bobkent1217
    @bobkent1217 Před 7 lety +2

    Why do you need to keep turning the 12 volt switch on and off? If it's only powered from the alternator ie. when driving, then just leave it switched on - one less thing to worry about.
    Same thing goes for the Mains power switch - leave that on as well since it's only live when you're hooked up. So really, the only control you need to worry about is the gas switch and gas tap, which you turn on when wild camping etc. and turn off before driving off.
    That way, the fridge will automatically operate on 12 volts when you start driving and automatically operate on mains voltage whenever you hook up. Just a thought :)

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 7 lety +4

      Absolutely Bob, that's how we do it too. The reason we recommend things be turned off whenever not in use is because we are a hire company and have to be very strict about safety.

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Bob thanks for your comment. We had a fridge that did not work when the 12v was turned on and it's good practice if you read the manuals that only one power source is turned on at any one time.

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 3 lety

      Hi Lynette, it's hard to say without seeing it of course, but first don't overlook the obvious things like is there some gas in the bottle, is the bottle fully opened, and is the fridge's isolation tap swithed on? They are sometimes in a cupboard under or near the fridge and sometimes have another one as well sitting alongside all the other isolation taps.
      Failing that, if the ignitor has stopped ticking, you may find that the fridge has in fact come on, but they are so quiet you wouldn't know. They sometimes take some time to cool down to, so leave it for a few hours then come back to it and have a feel inside the ice box.
      If none of that works it will be time to call an engineer. Local engineers with Google recommendations will usually be fair with price, and may even advise you over the phone.
      Good luck with it :)

    Does the 12v switch light up at all?

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 2 lety +1

      It usually lights up yellow, when driving. If it does not, it doesn't necessarily mean the fridge isn't cooking on 12v, it could just be that the bulb in the switch has gone. Best way to check is to go for a drive for half an hour or more then feel inside the ice box.

    • @Mr-Tibbs
      @Mr-Tibbs Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Peter yes indeed the orange light will go out when the pilot light is lit. The only time the light will come on again is when the pilot goes out for some reason, ie wind has blown it out through the vent and it can't re ignite in the 40 seconds before the auto gas shut of is deployed, or you simply run out of gas.

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi the Green is for 240v when you hook up a power cable on a campsite. The Red one is 12v but it will only work when the engine is turned on because it works off the alternator. The orange one is for Gas if you dont have an orange one you will have a push button lighter to light it. Hope this helps.

    I just bought a large van to live in durning a house construction project and it has 2 of these exact fridges fitted side by side. Thing is I when on gas I can't get the igniters to spark. I'm wondering what I am doing wrong?
    I have even downloaded the manual and still I can't work out why the idiot ignitors won't work.
    I took the covers off the back and I cannot find any way of manually lighting the gas. The bottles are full and the stove works. I have isolated one fridge then the other with the gas valves under the floor and selected both as well, and still I get nothing.
    I must be stupid or something.

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 6 lety

      Hi Paul I could only say that you would need to check the 12v feed to the connection on top of the fridge, also if you are getting 12v there then check the back at the ignitor. If I remember correctly a small screw holds a bent metal casing in place, but please unless you are gas safe then do not mess with the gas connection. Get a mobile engineer in they do not charge a fortune and will more than likly make sure it's safe as well . win win :)

    • @dmhmotorhomehire7110
      @dmhmotorhomehire7110  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi David. This would usually indicate that there is an iterruption to the gas supply. The gas may have run out and you didn't realise (we've all done it), it may be switched off at the bottle, it may be switched off at the main inlet tap, or the fridge could have it's own isolator tap, they are sometimes quite concealed. There could be a kink in the pipe that leads to the bottle or the connection to the bottle might not be tight enough. A good way to identify this is to pour some diluted washing up liquid around the seal, if you see tiny bubbles, there is a leak. If all of those things check out ok, you would be safest to contact an expert. Best wishes, Jane at DMH

      @@dmhmotorhomehire7110 thanks, think I need someone to look into it..the gas is on as the cooker burners were on. Possibly fridge has own isolator tap, previous owner only used on electric 12v / 240v hookup.

      @@davidkobayashi9344 One of ours had its own isolator tap, it was concealed underneath the fridge you could only see it if you removed the piece of wood that covers the ventilation gap. Worth one last look before you pay someone.
