I don't know if he was in any other ST shows, but Bruce Davison was Senator Kelly in the early X-Men movies.
This story is so incredible, you almost miss the underlying plot thread revealing the real source of T'Pol's 'blockage.' Not going into spoilers, but when the truth of this show's Vulcans comes out, there will be hell to pay. Maybe that's why a lot of fans don't like or recognize this show. Myself, I don't mind the continuity hiccups, as long as the resolutions are equally well-written, and not crappy cop-outs (I feel the same way about That Certain Era of LSH, but that's another topic for another time).
